Does anypony here have a "To-Do" list? I do, because it keeps things organized! What's on your list for today?

Sounds like a full day!

An actual, serious for-real list? I meeeeean... there's the background daily life maintenance stuff that never goes away, and being a constant it needs no listing. Other than that I have just enough focus for one item daily, and if there's more it's just not getting done. No need to make a list for one item, heh

Not really.  I don't respond well to that kind of structure.

Once upon a time there was a very special traveling bench that would appear or disappear and no one knew why. When it was there, there was nothing visually appealing about it. The wood was old and the nails that held it together had lost their luster. But it brought people together wherever it went. People could sit down and enjoy the quiet park, or talk to one another. Of course, you could do this at any wooden park bench, but like I said: This one was special. People who sat down could find companionship or solitude. It was like the bench just knew.

Well, if you’d like to sit down, I’ve built a fire nearby. Come share your troubles, or just sit and be together. Everyone welcome. Everyone loved. And let not an unkind word leave your lips.

My birthday is today it stresses me out every year. I feel like Doofenshmirtz on the beach waiting for the sandkicker. I need a distraction.

Yeah, I know. One of the most important things to get better at drawing is to just do it often and keep practising.

But, do you just cultivate your skills by practising alone?
Or do you learn some techniques from online tutorials/books or classes as well?

And how much does your environment work in cultivating all that skill? Do you respond well to an encouraging environment or do you grow better when left to your own devices completely?

Personally, I give up on the for realsies drawing schtick. Maybe doodling up some OC something pretending I'm capable.

My daughter, especially for her age looks pretty talented. Just want to know if I can tell her to check some stuff out or help her set up some deviantart things when time comes.

But being too pushy is probably an ticket to bad ideas ville.

I never got the hang of the amazing shading arts people are so good at out there, for instance. Texturing for sure.

Keep an eye out for stuff like classes or workshops for that in your area in the future and bring it up with her. No "You should join tis" but "does this sound like something you wanna do"?

Kids do tend to switch hobbies and interests like the rest of us change socks, but I have definitely managed to give at least one or two kids in my classes an extra taste for it just by letting them go somewhere where drawing is what it's all about and letting them draw what they want while they practice.

I guess I should also add that I've been drawing my entire life for literally as long as I can remember, took every art class and after school workshop related to art, majored in art until graduation...

And then I fell into a years long depressive slump that I only just recently started to get out of during which I've barely been drawing so now I feel like I've fallen way behind and trying desperately to catch up on all that missed time.

It's entirely possible Pac-People reproduce asexually. But the fact they have gender suggests otherwise.

Do you remember our first Ponyville OC?

Here is her sister!! Drawn by community artist Hispanon! Isn't she wonderful?

Her cutie mark is the Chinese word for "heart." It also means feelings, and passion! She has a little heart on her shirt, too!

Let's also think of some fun names for our heart OC! And then, we can vote on both, together!

bronycon 2019 was prolly the best time i ever had doin' anything

i got to spend time with the people i love most in a cozy hotel room, and i took pictures of so many plushies, someone even had the same sunset plush as me!

so um, talk about some of your happy times and memories! recent or not, it's important to think about good stuff sometimes!

It was the first time i had EVER seen snow on my birthday! It was so surreal, it felt like i skipped all the way to october or somethin, but nope! I have my christmas sweater on right now ^^

so what are some stuff you thought you would never see until you saw it with your own eyes?

There is a videogame bundle (perhaps the largest ever?) being hosted by itch.io to raise funds for racial equality, donated to "the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund split 50/50". It's only 5 dollars, and there are currently 999 games in the bundle. Some of them are really well-polished and cost over $20 regularly, but many are indie titles with important things to say about personal experiences. Some aren't good, but on the whole, it's statistically unlikely for there to be nothing of value for someone in the bundle.

It felt worth drawing attention to, because some of the games are quite good, and people coming together in support of a cause is to be commended.

Here is the link: https://itch.io/b/520/bundle-for-racial-justice-and-equality

It's $5.

Might not be a thing you should, though. At least the fear of disappointment - trying to set a deadline, especially if it's a routine one, might be a good option, since it might help with creating good habits and skills, including being able to set and keep other deadlines for things you want to do.

And so, good night, Mooners! Sleep well!

This is a thread i haven't made in a long long time, and now more than ever I think it would be good to bring it back!

Welcome to the Kaizen Thread! What does Kaizen mean? well it literally means "Good Change" but what that refers to is the gradual improvement of oneself over time. So much of what we typically see is the need to be "perfect" or to have a certain level of proficiency immediately. This leads to feelings of self doubt and a hindered ability to begin anything, because the need to be perfect overrides just the need to do.

Kaizen instead emphasizes habit of doing over the overall product. Even one minute a day done every day is good because it creates the habit, and sets the mind and body to flow into the work more naturally.

So today, I want to hear what your Kaizen(s) are! What are some things you do every day for improvement?

If you don't have any Kaizen right now, then what is something that you can start doing to make life better and/or start moving towards your goal?

for me, i do a run and tai chi every day, i would do more, but i'm still recovering from a rib thing. I also have been chipping away at Animal Crossing, which is fun.

however some stuff had fallen by the wayside. I am going to try and put more effort in building a kaizen for both career stuff and to try and do some art every day. even if it's just a little bit of revising of some writing, or a doodle.

So tell me, what are your Kaizens?
