He's a liar, he lied to me multiple times and tried to talk down to me about so I cut him off.
He couldn't handle the consequences of his own action and like the worthless little narcissist he is (and some of you are) he played the victim and lashed out here violating all the rules and posting all sorts of racists and teansphobic shit over and over again, obviously trying to retaliate against me for not wanting to be his friend or waste the emptional labor on it.

They've been allowed to shittalk others with impunity for ages now. This is just yet another example of the same type of conduct, frankly, the staff here
encourages, given their standard response is "Punish everyone but Andrea, give Andrea nothing more than a slap on the wrist".
It's why they feel bold enough to show up, and make their little tirade out of absolute nowhere.
Nobody said anything to them. Nobody messaged them. Nobody replied to them. Nobody said their name.
Yet, here they are, while as usual, staff does nothing.
Unfortunately a very long-standing tradition on this site.

It would probably be better to have active users as mods, which is part of why we just hired !!Pinkie. I'd like to think we used to be better, but I don't have the best memory for it—eleven years is a long time—and at this point it hardly matters what we used to be. All I can say is that you're right, we need to be better, and I intend to take this statement to heart. It probably doesn't mean much right now, and can't until new habits have been formed, but it's important to say nonetheless. Thank you for your concerns.

>>1208917Because the ppl here can be delusional. Is it honorable and positive to have someone like andrea (Not to single out, but a prime example) who has proven that they are emotion based rather than principal based? True honor and positivity requires conscious decisions to rise above primal urges, and to direct one's power to fairness and holding standard rather than arbitrary decision making.
I have to say, this is an interesting perspective to look at. It is a narrative on human nature.

>>1208917That's usually why you do simple things like 'communicate', 'document', or otherwise simply remember.
We're not talking years ago, here. It's been little more than a week when they had the last shit-show, insulting folk, screeching, calling them cunts, ect. And it's been a consistent issue for a long while, as that's their go-to reaction whenever anyone disagrees with them.
The whole "oh we'll tooootally do better" shit also reads exceptionally hollow when there's literally nothing stopping you, right now, handling a repeat offender in the same way you just did to the Soprano guy. For a far lesser offense, no less. Leaving aside the issue of two-facedness it comes across as, given you insist you have 'bad memory' for Andrea, but it seems to work fine for some tongue-in-cheek condescension, at worst.
Honestly, this right here is my #1 issue with Ponychan mods.
This kind of empty corpo-speak "Oh you're totally right, we need to do better, I'll
absolutely take this statement to heart" garbage gets thrown around every time you guys get called out.
And it's all, always, every single time, just a bold-faced lie.
You COULD make good on it. You COULD do the right thing. You COULD enforce the rules properly.
You
choose not to.

Prime example;

>>1209061>raises handAlso I must say it's very strange that you'd try to start a rumor that I sold the site, based on nothing:
>>1209062 Very strange but not unexpected in this place.
>>1209066 Saccharine, I presume. Nice to see you, too.
There was an announcement that was up on Ponychan, for several days, that the site would be going down for an indeterminate amount of time. At first I had no real idea how long that would be, but later it seemed like the downtime would be no more than a few hours. However, due to the issues that forced the site down in the first place, and terrible timing, plus additional unforeseen problems, I was unable to get the site up and running before I had to leave town. And it wasn't for lack of trying - you can ask Nonny about that if you like. I think most people in my situation would have put substantially
less effort into trying.
Unlike Ponyville, which has three-deep technical continuity, professional hosting, and individuals with more money than God bankrolling it, none of those things apply to modern Ponychan, and so Ponychan is just going to remain down until I get my ass back home and have a chance to really diagnose and repair it.
It did not shut down because I left town. It went down due to external factors, and it remains down because I am unable to fix the issues while out of town.
>>1209076 Most of the people you're alluding to barely even post there.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
If it bothers you that I run a website, you can always make one of your own and run it however you like.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll retire to my condo within your head, where I reside, rent free.
However, if I decide to unilaterally shut down Ponychan, without asking for user feedback, and without giving anyone else an opportunity to take it over, you know - like those other folks who tried to forcibly merge Ponychan and Ponyville not too long ago, feel free to call me a hypocrite.

Didn't you say you were permabanned from here, i swear you said that.
Or is it just you
feel like you are, like you
felt like these websites were "exclusive clubs" that you were excluded from... Even though you posted every day and no one stopped you..
Otherwise, are you a site admin breaking rules and circumventing a ban? Should people take that as permission to do so on your site?
It's gotta be one or the other.

>>1209093>The rage this statement use to induce in the people now proclaiming it is mildly amusing. You must have me confused with someone else. I've been there, done that, and got the T-shirt, multiple times over.
>Didn't you say you were permabanned from here, i swear you said that.I am most definitely perma-banned, without even the ability to appeal it. But the staff here seems confused about the fact that they perma-banned me and/or just let it slide like they do in the case of other people. It doesn't change the fact that I am ban-evading as we speak. Personally, I find it amusing. If they want to bring down the hammer, that's their choice.
>Or is it just you feel like you are, like you felt like these websites were "exclusive clubs" that you were excluded from... Even though you posted every day and no one stopped you..That's a very strange thing to say on this site, especially given the split between those who want to exclude others (especially for ideological reasons), vs those who want to swell the ranks by any means. You do understand that tolerating and welcoming are not the same. Look at the responses that others have gotten in this thread and others recently: sure they are
allowed to post, but for the most part, a vocal portion of the community does not want them here. That's not inherently wrong, and y'all can do things however you like, but it doesn't jive with the implications you just made. And my response to that is: why post in a place where a significant portion of the users want you gone when there are perfectly viable alternatives?
>Otherwise, are you a site admin breaking rules and circumventing a ban? Should people take that as permission to do so on your site?I think you have a fundamental misconception of how moderation works on Ponychan nowadays.
And I'm also not an admin on Ponyville last I checked.
>It's gotta be one or the other.I think you're trying to say that "I" have rules therefore I must respect other people's rules.
whether I agree with them or not, and regardless of how ridiculous they might be.
That's just silly.
>>1209094>Yeah, you would have made it a really big issue if anyone else did what you're doing and shut down a site for an extended period if time.Let me see if I can steel-man that argument.... Sure, if they were lying to my face while doing it, I would have a problem with it.
>You've never been anything if not contrarian.Interesting.
>But of course, when it's you and you're the one doing the things, it's all very justifiable and reasonable, but every other person who makes rules and runs their sites the way they want, well they're just objectively wrong and need to be told about it ad nauseam.I'm not sure what you're referring to. I don't defer to authority just because.
>Whats it like to be the only one whos ever right? Must be a lot of pressure.Surprisingly easy when the arguments you're facing aren't sound.

>>1209173The early days for sure. And I did meet some swell folk throughout.
It's mostly just the twilight hours of Ponychan that really hit me hard.
Especially before /void/ launched. That was a really rough time for my mental health, and looking back, so much of it came from there. All of it really, as the rest I'd delt with before alright.
That last couple years before the end honestly were probably the big trouble. I should have just left... But ponychan had been home for so very long, I felt like I couldn't, and always ended up drifting back.
I digress, though; not good to dwell on bad memories.
I'm thankful for the new lot, and for Voidchan while it lasted.
And I'm Especially thankful for a totally unrelated place I found, that offered a new home online for me.
Thanks to it more than anything, my mental state has been lovely.
Albeit, now I'm a full blown dragon cultist. Gone from general adoration I tried to curtail, to a practical worship and active strive to their ideal...
So, admittedly, maybe not 'healthier' mentally as just 'happier'.

>>1209178Happy IS healthy in my opinion. I've known plenty of 'neurotypical' people who were having a terrible time and plenty of mentally ill people having the time of their lives.
And honestly, I totally relate to finding a place outside of Pony image boards that completely changed things for the better for me.
Back when all I had was Ponychan and MLP websites, I basically had nobody I could actually relate to outside of basic sharing the same interest. Ever since finding better places online, I've actually found people who have actual similarities with myself, mentally and emotionally.
I'm in a much better place for the past 8 years than I had been for the prior 8.

>>1209168I need to expand.
Alas, I'm insular, introverted, and hate being a bother, which is a lethal combination for socializing.
My gaming group tragically had collapsed, due to a poorly thought out 'active' policy that slowly gets rid of folk who are there for events, games, and activities, in favor of those who just chat often without anything really going on.
Means I gotta track down another, especially if I want more tabletop.
And I've been needing a craft group for ages...
Ponychan used to be a good hub for all of that. Was the firstbplace I'd gone that that actually discussed things instead of just smalltalked. Honesty, still have a hard time finding that.
>neurotypicalI hate the label, mostly because it feels like an excuse. But it is apt.
Dunno how you feel on it, but, I can't really bring myself to accept "I think differently on a substantial level" as reason for such troubles.
...Though, I did have to once quite literally yell at Nonny "I AM SEVERELY AUTISTIC" to end one of our several-week-straight fights. So maybe I ought to.
>I'm in a much better place for the past 8 years than I had been for the prior 8.Do you find it a general environmental change, or do you think it came with age?
Mine's a shorter span, but oh boy, had it been an extreme difference.
And a part of me wonders if it's just me moving out of my 20s...

>>1209183I am pretty much all those things too, and more to boot. I genuinely do not leave the house for anything other than food or work. I can socialize pretty well online and on discord calls and the like, but when it comes to real life, I just can't seem to really do it.
I also no longer really have a tabletop group. I had one going for a pretty good while, up until very recently, actually, but life events for our main DM have basically made it impossible to continue. Me being the only other person who is really able and willing to DM and having extreme ADHD issues lately means nothing has happened for almost a year now.
Neurotypical definitely doesn't feel like it really encapsulates everything perfectly but, as you said, it is fairly apt. Autism and the various mental problems I have definitely make dealing with so-called "normal" people pretty difficult, but finding other people who have the same issues as me somehow makes everything work out. (Personally, I would assume everyone having terrible mental and developmental problems would be a clusterfuck, but somehow it works.)
>Do you find it a general environmental change, or do you think it came with age?I'd say it's more than likely a combination of both those things and more. Though I would honestly replace "age" with "time", because internally I still feel the same as I felt when I was 17. But those things are basically the same when you think about it.
Basically I'm pretty sure that a major aspect of things is being less hormonal than when I was a teenager and things basically "balancing out" as I've gotten older. But changing where I've chosen to spend my time and who I've chosen to spend it with has also definitely helped a lot. There were quite a few immature people on the 'chans back in the day, many of which were upwards of 5-10 years older than me. I still tend to skew older with the people I hang out with, but the quality of person has definitely improved. Even the people much younger than me that I know and spend time with are all way more mature than the older adults I spent time around as a teenager.
Aside from time and environment, I've also just done a lot more self-reflection over the years that has helped me to understand myself better and work on the aspects of myself that were negative or lacking. My perspective on things has also changed a lot. I used to get really worked up over how other people acted and what they believed, but nowadays I'm much more likely to just shrug people off and ignore them. It used to be functionally impossible for me not to respond to people being rude to me, but I've gotten much better at just letting things go, or at least not acting on my impulses.

>>1209185I'm shockingly good in real life. But, it's fake. It's always been fake. And a huge part of what made me idolize dragons, and their lack of need to maintain masks for social expectations.
Not to say I don't enjoy it, per say. But I enjoy it as a host. As making them happy. Hard to explain. I don't dislike playing the role, or wearing the mask, as I like the smile that results. Though I'll not ever really do things like that on my own, otherwise.

I had a wonderful Rogue Trader game going, but alas the GM got busy with so many other things the group died.
Part of why I need to learn to GM. It's a bitch to do, though. Especially starting out.
>dealing with so-called "normal" people pretty difficult,I've not had trouble in the real world where I've masks up. But online... I try to be "me" as it were. And oh boy, does that just not work most the time.
Half my issues are around that, especially as I inevitably struggle finding people who want to actually *discuss* things, which is my main craving online.
I can definitely see why talking to similar folk would help. And I suppose I've sought them out unconsciously on vrchat as it happens, as I've found those folk will almost always be absolutely willing to chat for hours on their interests if you just ask...
Really should get back into it. Need to set up the headset again. Good times, albeit the community had changed radically multiple times over now so it's a bit different.
>Aside from time and environment, I've also just done a lot more self-reflection over the years that has helped me to understand myself better and work on the aspects of myself that were negative or lacking. This is... admittedly thinking about it very likely the source for me as well. It feels hubristic to point to. But, I have endeavored ever since finding a place where a few similarly dragon obsessed people reside.
I was always fairly introspective, but, chasing what I viewed as my ideal was harder when I felt like it was just a weird obsession specific to me. Afterwards... Well, I could really develop and devote myself far more freely to that ideal, if only because feeling like I wasn't alone alongside people I could actually talk to about it gave a tiny ounce of reassurance that it's not a passing fetish or interest, but rather, a true adoration from the heart.
I'll give them mention, as honestly, it's a wonderful crowd even if one just passes by, though I'll warn they're obviously NSFW;
On the 4chan /trash/ board, there are regular '/scaly/' threads. Unique over there, incidentally, in how little the NSFW aspect dominates... albeit it's still a big part.
>It used to be functionally impossible for me not to respond to people being rude to meSimilar to you, albeit in a different direction.
When someone said something about me that was just untrue, I'd be sent into a genuine spiral.
Being misunderstood was genuinely the worst possible thing I could have occur, already (likely why I'm so verbose), and if it was an intentional misrepresentation, oh boy, would I start fuming...
I still do. But it's lesser. Though I would pin that lesser reaction on the loss of a presumption 'good faith' when it comes to my approach to conversations...
Realizing some folk are not merely misguided or misunderstanding, but rather, regard you as an enemy in the first place to which any tact is fair game goes a long way into making it feel a mile less substantial, nor as quite the same betrayal.

I'm careful posting such because some folk can react viscerally to it... But I'll post my little kobold.
Before accidentally creating this little lad, I didn't really 'get' the idea of a fursona.

>>1209186I'm kind of a social chameleon, for the most part. I'm not really good at being active in a social sense, but I'm a very good passive friend, if that makes sense? I can't really contribute very much but I can listen and seem interested. It makes basically everyone I interact with like me. But it's all superficial, I can't really actually connect with anyone irl. And I'm pretty sure it's mostly that I can't really be myself with most people I know irl, verse how easy it is to find like-minded people online where all you really have to do is explore the internet in the safety of your own home. You can lurk online, but if you do it irl people are gonna get creeped out lmao.
>I inevitably struggle finding people who want to actually *discuss* thingsMan, it really is difficult to find people you can actually like *talk* with. Most "conversations" you end up having online these days basically tend towards everyone just shouting their opinions into the void whilst the other people around them do the same, rather than actually having any kind of back and forth and true communication. And then half the time you actually do have a back and forth with people, it's usually antagonistic. Everyone has their own correct opinion and all the other opinions are wrong, and you have to try and convince others to agree with you. And most of the time it comes down to something as stupid as "I like black dragons" vs "I like white dragons".
>It feels hubristic to point to.It can be a trap that's easy to fall into, but the way to avoid it being hubris is to always remember that self improvement is a never ending journey. The moment you think you've "made it" is the moment it becomes hubris and you've actually failed. That's a lesson that can be harder to internalize than it might seem.

When it comes to fursonas, I don't really have a great grasp on my own personhood, so I have 'sonas of all types that I switch out depending on how I feel at any given time. The black dragon here is one of my major ones, though. That's pretty much it to a T for me, except that I refuse to consider anyone I can't be my true self around a 'friend' in the first place. Means I've got, like, two at best. Which is a bit rough admittedly.
I really ought strive for more internet friends, but it can be surprisingly hard to make them. Especially since my favorite people are often from anonymous boards and rather like that anonymity aspect.
>Most "conversations" you end up having online these days basically tend towards everyone just shouting their opinions into the voidI'll call those 'discussions' if only because most conversations I've run into are literally just basic chit-chat "my wife made a pie", "the weather was this", "I saw the girl I like", "how's your niece doing" guff that makes me want to pull my hair out and deeply admire the people who at least give me something, sometimes.
But I do relate still. Some folk these days bought too hard into the "art is subjective" line and want to tell me saying "John Halo is two grunts in a trenchcoat" is an 'opinion' so they don't need argument, rationale, evidence, or any form of logic...
>And then half the time you actually do have a back and forth with people, it's usually antagonisticMan that's been the case so long, I actually had the mistaken idea I liked arguing, 'til I really dwelled on it...
You're absolutely right. Most the time the only moment folk will bother to actually give reasons for what they think is if they're debating you.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very opinionated (black dragons are the best), but I do prefer discussing things amicably more than actual debate. If you tell me WHY you think something, I'll be far more interested exploring, sharing what we both like and dislike, rather than trying to prove my point of view is better than yours...
>hubris is to always remember that self improvement is a never ending journey. Oh boy does this get into some things...
You're absolutely right. However... hubris, pride, and arrogance are only flaws if they're not true.
My idolization is of the "evil" western dragon, you see. So... though it's been very hard for me to do so... I oddly enough want MORE hubris, MORE arrogance and MORE pride.
It's just... A dragon's pride is not an idle thing. If you are to boast, you need worthy boasts. If you are to be proud, you need something to take pride in.
I endeavor to improve as you say because I wish to earn that hubris.
Even as the goals are beyond my reach, like Icarus, I wish to climb undaunted to the sun. And though my wings may melt, I will but carve another pair from my soul, 'til the stars themselves are in my grasp.
>furries and scalies You have to be a little Careful I've noticed as some are fake. In it just for the community, the clique as it were.

>>1209190>There comes a time where you kind of have to assume that most people are not engaging in good faith.Unfortunately that was a lesson that genuinely took me well over a decade to learn.
The big issue I've found is, others don't care even if they can tell the other party is acting in bad faith. If you fight it, you'll be viewed as a trouble maker. As someone who attracts drama. Associated with a negative lot, without real care on the larger story.
That took me a while to learn. But now that I have, my hearts a tad more guarded, and less prone to catching alight.
>At this point unless I'm in a space that specifically forbids it, I'm not going to cater to people who get super worked up over an image being created in a way they don't like, Respectable.
I'm wanting to push that way. But my soul is very accommodating to others. I dislike making folk uncomfortable even if it's unreasonable.
Something I long to adjust. Not rid entirely, but still.

Especially since my favorite people are often from anonymous boards and rather like that anonymity aspect. It is absolutely hard to make friends online, even when you're not dealing with anonymous people. The other options are like... Twitter/Bluesky, or Discord servers. For the former, it's usually the case where the people there aren't really people you'd even WANT to be friends with, even if they were open to it. For the latter, all the major servers you can go to make friends are usually way too crowded and/or insular so it's hard to make any headway with individual people. I suppose it's not really so dissimilar to going to a bar or a club irl, not that I've ever done that.
> I actually had the mistaken idea I liked arguing, 'til I really dwelled on it...When it's all you really know, it can be easy to think you like it. There are genuinely people who like arguing, it's why we have lawyers and professional debaters, but it really takes a certain kind of person.

>My idolization is of the "evil" western dragon, you see.Not surprising, and also same.
>I oddly enough want MORE hubris, MORE arrogance and MORE pride. To be a little pedantic, hubris is an excess of pride, so it's a little redundant. That aside, I totally respect that. Arrogance and pride are important, everyone needs at LEAST a little, if not more, to really be able to function. I definitely have my fair share of both. It kind of oddly simultaneously takes a lot to make me respect someone... and not really that much. I mean, it's not really that high of a bar, all things considered, it's just simply amazing how few people seem to be able to reach it.
>You have to be a little Careful I've noticed as some are fake. In it just for the community, the clique as it were. Oh, absolutely. As is the case with any community. You have your "larpers"/"posers"/"tourists", whatever you want to call them, and you have the genuine article too. (As a frequent flyer in the Otherkin and Fictionkin community, I have to deal with my fair share of these.)
> If you fight it, you'll be viewed as a trouble maker. As someone who attracts drama. Associated with a negative lot, without real care on the larger story. This is actually a major problem I used to have here on Ponyville. This place is allergic to conflict. I get that you don't want people fighting all the time, but sometimes conflict is genuinely required. When people are being shit, you should be able to fight that without being seen as the same as them. Same shit I used to have a problem with in school. You get bullied, you just have to deal with it, because if you fight back you're "not any better" or whatever.
>I'm wanting to push that way. But my soul is very accommodating to others. I dislike making folk uncomfortable even if it's unreasonable. It's certainly something I had to learn how to do. It's not something I can do irl in any capacity, but online at least I've overcome it. I guess when you're trans or otherwise LGBT you have to sort of learn to say fuck it and do what you want to do regardless of what other people think.
>AI stuff is pretty neat, and to me, while sure it has less 'intent', I find it will often still contain a lot of meaning within, albeit more as a 'discovery' than a created work.To me AI, especially when it comes to generated art, it's really an intermediate step. Like, I totally get why game companies are using it for concept art. It can be great for throwing out ideas and seeing them come to life in various ways. Even the quickest artist can't really generate the sheer *amount* of output an AI can in different styles and designs. I've used it as a springboard for design ideas for over a dozen different sonas and OCs in the past couple years. I still want to find an actual artist to make the designs truly come to life (and yes, support actual humans).
>If I could shape-shift today, I'd be something cute, after all. Same, 100%.
>Generic isn't necessarily bad. I think when it comes to fursonas and the like there's a desire to make them be as unique as possible to really drive home the fact that they are "you", and everyone is unique in their own way and yadda yadda yadda. But there is absolutely something to be said about being generic, especially when it comes to base design. Sure there are some very unique looking people out there, but... there's also a ton of people that look... kinda generic. Myself included. So a more generic looking design just makes sense. The uniqueness should come through due to personality more than physical appearance.
Also with my dragonsona, there is stuff that the quick AI generations that I've done don't quite pick up. She's supposed to be shorter than your average dragon but longer instead to make up for it. Not quite lindwyrm or anything too noodley, but definitely a little more snake-ish. She's also not SUPPOSED to have horns, but it's really annoying to get the AI to listen to that. Almost as difficult as getting it to not put white scales on the underbelly.
>I will say it's a gorgeous dragon, with an elegant style I adore.Thank you, I really appreciate it. Both you and my friend Terezi are what I would call "dragon connoisseurs", so it feels more meaningful lol.
>Trust me you can get crazy complex with it. Some of the guys on /trash/ are true wizards with it. I've absolutely seen some absolutely insane stuff out there. It's gotten to the point where it really does look like someone actually took the time to draw it out sometimes. Almost completely indistinguishable from non-AI stuff. But let's be real, the majority of people doing it are just paying some company with an online service to generate stuff with a lot less effort than they could be putting in. I firmly believe that not everything generated by AI is "slop" just because it's made with AI.
>Some of my favorite dragons sport simple designs.I'm not gonna pretend that I don't love a lot of the really insane designs that people make out there, but I definitely prefer simple. Most of my own designs reflect that.

Opening one's most vulnerable and ultimately strange aspects is a gargantuan risk.
I'm only truly open in places like this in the first place, as consequence, and that's primarily because it's so deeply anonymous by its nature. Otherwise it's only in private moments.
I'm trying to change that. I've got dragon stickers, and wallpapers on my devices, and Wings of Fire sits openly on my shelf... But even that's in the rather rarely visited privacy of my room.

>>1209200Accidentally tapped post. Ah well. Phones suck.
>>1209199>LETS FREAKING GOOOOI will say I want to like white (or Ice anyways) dragons more...
But every time I see a black dragon I always end up liking them.
They've always got an air. A contrast of calm beauty at odds with a dangerous look.
Then again, my favored Icrwings did have a history of falling for black dragons too... so maybe it's inherent for those who identify with those 'white' dragons.
>Not surprising, and also same.Well now it's my turn to cheer, because LET'S FREAKING GOOOO
Recommendation for you if you're into them;
Vainqueur the Dragon.
Bit of a parody of the Isekai/litRPG genre, where the main character accidentally spills the beans on how leveling up works to a chromatic dragon.
Great lot. Highly recommend.
>To be a little pedantic, hubris is an excess of pride, so it's a little redundant. True, but, the excess is part of it.
You ought know your limits of course. But, as an example, is it not my own hubris to aspire to the standards of a dragon?
Especially lacking their inherent means.
>Otherkin and Fictionkin community,Never prodded these but I wonder if I should.
Kobolds are essentially, or maybe not 'essentially' as 'genuinely', my 'spirit animal' as it were.
>You get bullied, you just have to deal with it, because if you fight back you're "not any better" or whatever.I've a very, very strong hatred of this. Thankfully I've never had it come up. But boy, I would've been fuming.
I had the same issue here. It's why I'm admittedly somewhat bitter still to the staff. It's a long, long time ago, though. Literally over a decade. But I remember that exact problem. All the funnier given their desire to select the option that minimized conflict also meant they'd have 200+ post threads on canterlot going back and forth for weeks...
Embarrassingly some of them are still present.
>I guess when you're trans or otherwise LGBT you have to sort of learn to say fuck it and do what you want to do regardlessI've a similar perspective on the opposite side funnily enough, but I do agree with the sentiment.
Not to put too big a fuss on it but essentially my saying "being gay is a choice, I've made that choice, I'm quite happy with my choice" can get things rather heated.
>AI can in different styles and designs. I've used it as a springboard for design ideas for over a dozen different sonas and OCsHuge part of my like for it as well. Especially as someone who is not an artist, despite poking at it for a long while.
To me, it's a means to discover. Not a replacement for art, just a way to visualize something you're seeking.
And of course like you, I'd love to support artists as well, afterwards.
...Albeit social woes and fear of the reaction to AI reference material halt that from happening.
>The uniqueness should come through due to personality more than physical appearance. An extremely good way of saying it.
Also something that can come through the art, too.
Many of my favorite pictures are my favorites because of the expression, not the design, of the character.
>Not quite lindwyrm or anything too noodley, but definitely a little more snake-ish. I know what you mean thanks to the ways some folk draw Rainwings occasionally. It's a very cool look I must say.
>but it's really annoying to get the AI to listen to that. Adding heavy weights to that and occasionally a lot of inhabiting are the only ways I've found.
Have a similar issue but for hair. At least one of the models i used LOVES hair. Major irritation.
>dragon connoisseursTo be fair as consequence of that there's few I don't love, I must admit. But nah, genuinely has a great vibe. The soft shift of grey adds a lot. And the blue eyes, at least on that one pic, give a solid contrast that immediately catches my eye.
Also reminds me of Aileen who I love. I'm gonna be so mad when they humanform her.
>But let's be real, the majority of people doing it are just paying some company with an online service to generate stuff Tragically true, but, I would add... a lot of artists make deviant art slop that's barely above a crayon scribble.
As you say, it's heavily dependent on the individual and the piece. One guy I've seen straight up combines traditional work with the ai to get amazing results. A bit fetishy, but if you're inclined, look for Leeto on E6ai.
>'m not gonna pretend that I don't love a lot of the really insane designs that people make out there, Oh, same for sure. Albeit I do love the simple. Ever since reading Mating Flight I've fallen in love with flashy sparkledog esque designs as well.
>ve really got to get some sleep now. I'll catch you on the flip-sideThis obviously comes well after, but, do take care. It's been an absolute pleasure.

>>1209200Not gonna lie, unless the dragons are anthropomorphic, most people will just assume you like dragons like a normal person. Like... most people like dragons. They're like THE most popular fantasy creature. You can even go really all out with it and people will just be like "Yup. That's a normal guy that likes dragons."
Funny story, when I first was interviewing for my current job a year and a half ago, I changed my phone background from some anthro character to an anime girl I liked. It's a lot easier to explain being into anime than it is to explain being a furry. (My job before this one, people saw my anthro phone background and would rib me for it.) While I'm not exactly against being seen as a furry, it is annoying sometimes to have it brought up when you're just trying to work or hang out.
>>1209202>white and black dragonsI mean, opposites attract and all that. I also don't dislike white dragons by any means, one of my OCs is an ice kobold. I like all the different types of dragons, to be honest. Black just fits me best, for a variety of reasons.
>Vainqueur the Dragon. Might check it out. I don't read a lot of litRPG type stories, but I'm not opposed to it.
>Never prodded these but I wonder if I should. It's not a bad idea to look into the concept more if you feel like it might resonate with you. But as far as communities go, it's kind of hard to find a good place. Most of the really active Discords are aimed at younger people and places that you used to be able to find people like Tumblr or Twitter are kind of dead now. I sort of got lucky with my main friend group, we sort of coalesced right around the time it started to be less popular. That said, you still end up finding people out in the wild sometimes. Otherkin/Therians tend to pop up randomly in Furry circles. It can be difficult, though, because you never know if someone is going to assume you're mentally ill because you think you were an animal in a past life.
>avoiding conflictThe irony of the fact that trying to avoid conflict often leads to greater conflicts in the future. World War 2, anyone?

Can't really fault people for taking issue with it. But there's a reason people have friends outside of public social circles. You can only make mistakes so many times in a public place before you're excluded from it, but your friends will ideally be there for you through it all.

>>1209241>most people will just assume you like dragons like a normal personWell thats part of the intent. Though I think they'll catch on that you're dragon obsessed if it's a bit prominent.
Lewd aspects aren't really for public, after all. Though in truth is not nearly as big a part of me, as much as that general obsession.
Either way though, I used to be WAY more paranoid about it. I owned next to nothing dragon related, was terrified of anyone noticing. You're probably right that it's fine, though, and it certainly echoes my current experience
>It's a lot easier to explain being into anime than it is to explain being a furry.Oof, I know that...
I made the mistake once. I was able to brush it off enough, but it was a lingering piece of jabbing for a while.
Oddly 'scaly' stuff seems to attract it less. Though I guess my distaste for the normal anthro fare might be a part of that.
Even if your kobold's got pretty sizable hips folk won't think much about it 'til they see massive knockers, oddly.
>because you think you were an animal in a past lifeI'm not quite that far on it, partly due to not really putting big stock in reincarnation in the first place, but the whole "this creature represents my soul/I am a reflection of" type stuff gets a similar reaction sometimes I've found.
They either think you're some crystal astrology sort, or just a little loopy. Which makes the whole point of bringing it up feel pointless, embarrassing and altogether unpleasant.
>Honestly it's not like the two ideas can't coexist?Oh, precisely! It's a bit of a fuss.
I'm not sure how much stock I put in the 'born' aspect, but at the very least I'll happily concede that environment upbringing and oddities in brain chemistry absolutely can make it something that isn't a 'choice'.
But the idea that there can't be at all is just... Well, i feel like it just denies everything I've lived through, the discoveries I've made, the things I've done, tried, and explored, to get to where I am.
As a result I've been a bit fussy whenever someone tries to tell me "No, actually, you were always gay".
Outside of jokes, of course.

>>1209249>Oh that's a lovely kobold! I love those horns. And that's such a cool outfit. Thank you! She's one of my first D&D characters, an assassin who uses an oversized crossbow that's as tall as she is. Unfortunately she didn't last very long as a playable character because D&D 3.5, which we were playing at the time, doesn't allow for ranged sneak attacks. (5e DOES allow ranged sneak attacks, BUT they don't have oversized weapons the way 3.5 does, so it kind of makes it impossible to actually play her as she should be.)
>AI gets the tails right far more than regular people.Yeah, I wonder why that is. Maybe it's a logic thing.
>I suspect a predisposition towards scales inclines one to a higher rate of empathy. Pure speculation, though. I don't know if it's actually the case, but I definitely see the logic behind it. Cats and dogs and other furry animals are pretty easy to love. They're conventionally cute and have easily understandable personalities. They are easy to relate to.
Meanwhile snakes, lizards, and fish (and to an extent birds too) are more unusual. Most people don't find them cute. They're an entirely different class (in the biological sense) of animals. Being able to enjoy these types of animals despite how different they are to us does speak to a level of increased empathy.
>Hey, small tits still count! Well, she's not really supposed to have any, some of the AI images I have of her decides to add small tits, while others keep her completely flat. Or at least they reduce it down to just a sort of swell in the chest area.

>>1209250>BUT they don't have oversized weapons the way 3.5 does,Nah, that's definitely something I've noticed as well. I've started 3.5 recently, and I will say I love the size category lot. It's been a ton of fun, especially since I'm playing a kobold myself. One who can turn into a dragon as it happens, too, albeit a tiny little one.
I've had a few kobolds, but unfortunately every time I've played them ,the games've fallen apart shortly after. No real luck with them I guess. Nothing specific to them of course, just bad luck on scheduling usually.
The game I'm currently in is the first time I've gotten to play one for more than three sessions, and it NEARLY died. We lost everyone but one other player, and the GM of course.
Tried inviting a few others, but it was the same deal. So we're currently coasting with just two. Me, and a halfling artificer. Hopefully we'll find some others, but, the GM's nice enough to say "We're gonna go through regardless" for the moment anyways.
He's also trying to convince me to run a maid RPG... Mostly because he doesn't want to get trapped as forever DM and I've mentioned being willing.
The 'Maid RPG' part more coming from a discussion me and him had a while back about a couple ideas... You gotta find the 'spy' in the mansion. One of the party isn't actually who they say they are. They're a fraud, secretly a man, you see, dressed as a maid to hide...
Except that the whole party'll be that. Everyone will think they're the spy. Be convinced that they're the ones who have to stay hidden...> Maybe it's a logic thingThat's my guess. The thing is, the AI's trained on people's art, but it's also running through the physical 'puzzle' so to speak. It's not designed to actually 'copy' people contrary to popular belief, just use their stuff to gauge what's 'right'.
Consequently, it's usually surprisingly good on the core anatomy. Or at least so I've found. It struggles obviously on certain parts, and it'll give weirdness when pieces overlap. But still.
> Most people don't find them cuteI didn't think of it around birds, but, you're actually right come to think of it... Folk more say they're 'beautiful' not 'cute'. Subtle difference, but substantial.
In either case, I've noticed folk often assume anything not a 'mammal' lacks emotions, intelligence, or feelings, just because of that it seems.
>some of the AI images I have of her decides to add small tits, while others keep her completely flat. I actually had this same issue;
The solution is hilariously simple.
Add the 'femboy' tag.
Due to furry femboys being largely designed like girls save the chest in the first place, you don't really get a substantial difference. Might have to add eyelashes as a tag, but that's about it
I used it for a cute sundress kobold I was doing a while back.
Bit rough, but it was when I was first poking at them. I still like the style. Maybe I should try it again some time. Especially since I've a new rig that'd probably be better suited for it. Albeit, it's an AMD, so it's more of a pain.

>In either case, I've noticed folk often assume anything not a 'mammal' lacks emotions, intelligence, or feelings, just because of that it seems. This is definitely a major thing. Nevermind that it's not accurate by any means. There's plenty of studies proving non-mammals feel the same sorts of things mammals do. Hell, even fish recognize and care about their owners, and they tend to be one of the more hands-off pets.
>Add the 'femboy' tag. That makes a lot of sense actually. I'm pretty much done messing around with AI for the time being, though. I've got pretty much everything out of it I've needed for now.
>I used it for a cute sundress kobold I was doing a while back. That's adorable.
Here's my most recent kobold character. Built for Pathfinder 1e, she's a Sylvan "Sorcerer of Divine Deception". Basically a sorcerer that's able to use their own arcane magical power to use divine magical items beyond their usual capacity. (Take a Wand of Cure Light Wounds for example. Normally it has a bunch of charges and once they're used up, it's done. A Sorcerer of Divine Deception can basically expend one of their spell slots to use the item without using up a charge.) She has a Roc as an animal companion.

Also because 'furry/scaly' traps are the best,

Fish can be rather surprisingly curious, I've noticed. Put something new, not even in their tank, and you'll have a group of them coming by to check it out.

>>1209268>Gives the vibe they're the 'protector' of sorts, despite being the kobold's familiar. Not totally wrong! One of the reasons I went with a Roc is because they can act as more of a combat "pet" instead of just your usual familiar. Helps make up for the sorcerer's lack of martial ability.
>Or at least, I never quite felt the same issues as I've seen there, when I played a higher level campaign.I think they've certainly made it better than older editions, but the amount of shit a magic user can do is still way more powerful than even the best martial class. Just the fact that they have AoE and Control abilities kind of says it all. A martial can pretty much only focus on like, 2 or maybe 3 people at once IF they're all next to them. Meanwhile most offensive magic attacks can target multiple enemies at different distances from each other and the caster themself. Martials definitely tend to make up for it in shear damage-dealing ability (most of the time) but I can certainly see why people might think casters have the advantage in most cases.
> Because I remember some weirdness around actions. Like, movement wasn't a separate action, and such. One of the major differences for 2nd edition is that each character gets 3 actions per turn. They can be used for movement, attacks, and other abilities. Some things take more than one action. Attacking multiple times in one turn comes with a stacking penalty. That sort of thing.
The other major mechanical thing is that magic is split between 4 different sources. Arcane, Occult, Divine, and Primal.
There's also differences in how feats work and stuff like that.
In functionality, it also relies heavily on the DM to basically do everything "behind the scenes". Rather than the player rolling checks, the vast majority of things are "secret checks" that the DM rolls. (When me and my friends play it, we tend to leave this part out because it's just less fun in our opinion and makes the DMs workload so much higher.)

>>1209273>Helps make up for the sorcerer's lack of martial ability.Makes sense! I need to get something for my 3.5 character in the same style... I was actually looking through some feats to fix that. Potentially could use some of the stuff to swap my familiar, for something scarier, too.
Potentially looking into a dragon. Mostly because then my kobold gets a dragon mentor!
>Martials definitely tend to make up for it in shear damage-dealing ability (most of the time) but I can certainly see why people might think casters have the advantage in most cases.True on both respects.
The paladin is absurd for single-target damage. But he's not got much multi-targets, so I can see why folk look at him and feel like he has less impact, since any fight greater than five enemies, you're struggling.
RAW incidentally you declare smites after hit, and crits are determined after hits... So you can massively spike your damage by simply spending your big spell slots after crit for massive damage.
Alas, some GMs don't like that, so it's hit or miss.
>Rather than the player rolling checks, the vast majority of things are "secret checks" that the DM rolls. That sounds... A little dubious.
I dare say your friends make the right call.

>>1209275>Potentially could use some of the stuff to swap my familiar, for something scarier, too. There should be some kind of advanced familiar feat you can take in 3.5, similarly to how it's done in Pathfinder.
>Potentially looking into a dragon. This is pretty much up to the DM if they'd allow that. For instance, when it comes to having a Roc as a companion/familiar, it's specifically stated to be an *Adolescent* Roc. If I was the DM I'd allow something similar for a dragon.
>The paladin is absurd for single-target damage. The smites are fucking insane. My first 5e character was actually a paladin but this was years before BG3 came out and taught me the ideal way to play one, so I wasn't able to make it work as well as I could have. Still was pretty fun, though.
>since any fight greater than five enemies, you're struggling. And this is why it's a group-based game! A Paladin is super useful for those really hard hitting major enemies, but they need people to assist them when it comes to multiple enemies.
>That sounds... A little dubious. It's definitely A Decision, that's for sure. To me it really makes the game a lot more boring, since rolling dice for shit is like, a major aspect of what makes these games fun for me.

>>1209276>of advanced familiar feat you can take There is indeed! I'm still debating between either Improved or Dragon. Both offerings giving pretty strong companions, though they do require level 7 casters to pull off. Or a way to boost it, anyways...
>it's specifically stated to be an *Adolescent* Roc. It's a similar case here, as the dragon is very much a wyrmling in the feat description. But, hey, still a dragon, and I doubt a kobold would care so much.
Though it is a mite funny, since he's a dragonwrought, he's also pretty old, and liable to be far more so than the dragon he's serving...
>so I wasn't able to make it work as well as I could have.To be fair, of all classes, paladins are honestly the best to build unoptimized.
You're a half caster, so you're always equipped with utility. A martial, so you can always stand in front. And a healer, one of the most effective, which is massive 'cause it's also free in the sense that it doesn't drain spell points.
Most my characters are unoptimized. The only one I did do that way was my kobold paladin, which was a bit of a silly little guy even then, since he was a dex based shield paladin.
Way it worked, you'd attack, bonus action shove with a shield feat, and then attack at advantage. Good odds you crit, with that many attacks, and if you do... SMITE
Otherwise, though, I mostly played them for hte roleplay aspect. Paladins are my favorite that way. Zealous knights given powers from their patrons make for a lot of fun.
>And this is why it's a group-based game! Also true, and why unoptimized builds are still fine. If you've got pals to rely on, you can get by. Albeit, you might always struggle just a hair.
>rolling dice for shit is like, a major aspect of what makes these games fun for me.Same. Though I'm also a little of a special case in that I'll fully commit to the dice.
The dice are a huge part of it for me. Especially since I've always been terribly unlucky, and I find the dice's results often so brilliantly hilarious, as a consequence, since they inevitably leave me at hte worst possible time.

This is s truly pathetic no true scotsman.
I grew up in Texas. I have extended family in East Texas, near the borders of Arkansas and Louisiana, that part is an extension of the deep south. It was were all the slave owners were in Texas before the Civil War, it's where all the Jim Crow shit was was happening in the century afterwards. Hell, it's where you had historic sundown towns and a huge klan presence for decades after Jim Crow ended. I'm
deeply familiar with all the traditional racism that persisted there all the way up through to my lifetime, when I was a kid in the 80s and growing up in the 90s. I remember thatbback then there was a time when the town of Vater erecting a billboard outside of town saying 'Don't let the sun set on your black ass'. And I remember hate crimes against blacks still happening out there even back then.
I know the history of my homestate, you obviously know nothing about it when it was required learning in both my primary schooling and even in my higher education to know my homestate's history.
It's honestly really hilarious that you would point to westerns that take place in
west Texas as evidence that
I don't know anything about the massive state I grew up in. I grew up in South Central Texas and spent a lot of time in East Texas and the Texas coast with family, the three regions I'm most familiar with (if anything west Texas was the part I was
least familiar with given how far it is from San Antonio and Austin and how little reason we ever had to be there). This is laughable Noonim. What parts of the south 'cpunt' as part of the south is a matter of historical fact, not your subjective opinion
I'm deeply familiar with the consequences of treating bigotry so lightly given my experiences with people where I grew up, and it is the entire reason I do not tolerate when others do. Regardless of whatever bullshit strawman you just want to assert as reality.
>Texas is its own thing by large, far more influenced by the west than the "south".hahaohwow.jpg
You do know that one of the 'Six Flags Over Texas' (the namesake of the theme parks) was the confederate flag right? You do know that most of the original settlers of each Texas during the Mexican homesteading period came from the deep south right? You do know that to this day, the majority of the population of Texas is in the Eastern half of the state, right?

>and engage in all sorts of logical fallacies and strawmanning of what I'm arguing. You've literally done that this entire stretch. What the fuck are you on about.

>This is s truly pathetic no true scotsman. The irony is I'm pretty well sure you could point to any other southern state and make all these same arguments about "jim crow", the civil war, and racism.
So I don't see how it's a "no true scotsman" to point out the reality that Texas is not southern, as it's a WESTERN state, literally a staple in the entire frontier culture to the point the classic cowboy hat is regarded as a staple of texas...
>What parts of the south 'cpunt' as part of the south is a matter of historical fact, not your subjective opinion I agree; Which is why Texas is not southern.

>>1209699Yeah, this is at the core of why I left ponychan in 2016 to come here.
Basically all the assholes drove away those who weren't assholes and cried and played victim over it all the time, especially if they got reprimanded by the staff.
And the denialism about it was pretty pathetic too. The last time I was there was in 2017 when I was lurking out curiosity for whatever reason and there was a thread on /site/ that had a post where Anonthony was fresking flipping out over the existence of ponyville and blaming moony for 'dividing the community' as if he were some sort of sinister pied piper as if none of us would have left of our own free will and as if none of us would leave because of people like him and his asshattery, like he didn't have the spine to accept the blow to his fragile ego and blamed moony instead of confronting himself.
I stuck around here
despite Manley being here too, and I have become quite disillusioned with this lasse-faire approach to enforcing rules here and generally come here to hang out with all the good people who left ponychan for this site who are still here.

>>1209724Nonny somewhat. I wouldn't quite say he has no principle, but he's certainly one who goes off vibe and emotion often. It's what gets him in trouble.
Boat, though? Definitely not. He's one of the more principled I've seen. And while you have clearly got your narrative, no, he only came to the forefront relatively recently, prior being someone known for being level headed if blunt. It was only the blatant issues that plagued Pchan's final days that got him the more 'combatative' reputation, and that was largely because he had been calling out shit that was blatantly untrue.
>People who were never outcast, but acted like they were, and probably should have been. Can't speak for the others, but I certainly was.
Mostly because I don't do the mundane socialization, and my absolute adherence to principle requires me to call out anyone regardless of relation.

Not even on this site! The first time boat ever interacted with me was when I went anonymous in a thread while trying to avoid Manley and I posted something like 'I don't like groups that are too exclusive, they tend to become echo chambers' in response to the topic of the thread and not replying to anyone in particular, and out of the blue he responds with hostility to that saying something like 'I dont have to listen to anything you say!'
I agree the guy wasn't exactly a troublemaking troll, but if I happened to express an opinion that was often the opposite of his, he'd get really triggered and treat me like I was some sort of horrible person and couldn't understand or accept that stuff like that was why I thought he was a huge asshole and treated him like that accordingly.
The thing that pretty much killed all potential respect for him was a thread on /canterlot/ I made complaining about mint-horse being really racist about Mexican people in a thread I made on /pony/ sharing pictures from a trip I took back home to San Antonio one Christmas, and the fact that he'd been repeatedly banned for that shit many times before that and clearly didn't give a shit about the rules here. Boat was accusing me of 'only hating him for having a different political opinion than me'. Boat wasn't the trouble maker at that time, but was really offended that I had a problem with the trouble maker.

>>1209806I agree that bigotry is more than just another political opinion, since it actively harms people. The point I'm making isn't that it's as defensible as any other position, it's that it's not really appropriate to start up drama over someone's opinions when it's unnecessary to do so. If someone starts spewing racist remarks or rhetoric... report them. Don't engage with them and start up unnecessary drama. Posting that sort of thing goes against the spirit of the site rules, if not the letter of them. This is not the place to fight people over their opinions, even if those opinions are incorrect or damaging.
What I was saying isn't that your opinions are comparable, it's that you are both engaging in the same kind of behavior. Neither of you are going to convince the other to change their opinions, there is no positive impact to either of you yelling at each other about them. The validity of opinions doesn't factor into it at all. The fact remains that all it does is cause trouble. People are not watching you two on bated breath to see which one of you presents the most convincing argument, either. All they see is two people yelling at each other, making the thread unusable until you either get tired or get banned.
>Boat was pretty consistent in that, lucky he didn't show you that side of himself. The fact is, he hasn't been as consistent as you want me to believe. I'm not a random newcomer talking out of their ass about something I know nothing about and haven't seen. I've been using this site for AT LEAST as long as you have. I've seen a lot of your drama. There's been no need for Boat to "show me" that side of himself, I've seen it with my own eyes in his interactions with you and other people. In fact, my post that you responded to is me saying that he's not perfect and he's had plenty of issues on this site. But guess what? I've also seen YOUR posts and interactions with him and others. You've had your fair share of problems.
I've had my fair share of problems. Everyone has! That's my
point.
You think that because you have the moral and ethical high ground that that somehow means that the way you behave towards other people is justified. It's not. This isn't the debate stage. This isn't you making some grand stand against bigotry. This is a quiet little imageboard in the far corner of the internet and your insistence on battling it out with every person who says something offensive or expresses a harmful opinion is doing
nothing but making this place less and less enjoyable to be a part of.
My argument basically comes down to this: This isn't the place for it. If you think that an idea or opinion expressed by someone on the board is harmful, then report them. Let the mods deal with it. Focus your energy on something
actually productive. The only thing that getting into a big dramatic confrontation does is break even more rules and make the board a worse place to be.
Honestly, what I should be doing is taking my own advice here. Continuing to reply to you on this topic is not productive, I highly doubt you're going to change your behavior because of what I say and think. I would just delete this whole post if not for the fact I spent so much time writing it.

>>1209807*My* entire point in that response to you and the anon was to point out that boat certainly *has* been a troublemaker. And mostly to explain that behavior as the reason I don't like him.
And I never expected anyone to be 'watching with bated breath' over who would be right in any situation. With boat I'd just lose self control *after* he'd directly attack me over utterly innocuous opinions like not enjoying spaces that are too exclusive, I don't make any justification for that. Like, I've literally never contested any bans I've gotten on this site, I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone else. Just losing my temper
Especially after the whole situation with mint-horse just being racists in my 'photos from home' thread. I grew really fucking sick of the saviour complex of both Moony and Addy over this. No where in the ponyville constitution does it say that by posting here *we* implicitly agreed to provide the emotional labor for *their* project to try and rehabilitate people like that. I just wanted a site like 2011 ponychan and my behavior was an expression of frustration over the admin's own narcissistic savior fantasies kind of being the ultimate source of problems on this site. Like, the whole fucking reason Manley completely fucked over this site for a while was because of Moony being biased to see success in his own efforts to change Manley and not have a healthy bit of cynicism necessary to recognize how two-faced Manley is.
I wish the staff were stricter about this stuff. I mean, just look at what happened in Noelle's pride month thread this year. I posted about an incident involving the police at the transgender pride march in San Francisco that I was originally intending to attend, and expressed my *feelings* about it, that's it, not take some "moral high ground" about it, literally just expressing how it made me feel about the police in that incident. But I guess a bunch of people thought that was some signal that they had permission to try to turn it into a /townhall/ thread like I was trying to take some noble stand or something, Noelle reported it, and Mondo comes in and says 'yeah I'm going to allow this', and a bunch of shitheads the equivalent of 'yeah she started it!' like a bunch of children fighting on a playground. At this point I'm *trying* to be insufferable to drive people away that the staff isn't willing to do anything about. Nothing noble about it, just pure frustration and ultimately a swing at the mods more than anything else.

It's not really 'innocuous' to label half the country psychotic far right extremists who want to kill you, let's say.
>>1209807>All they see is two people yelling at each other, making the thread unusable until you either get tired or get banned. Tragically something I struggled with, and still do, for a long while. Kind of a pain. Especially when you end up with a reputation repeated by folk you've never even met. Though, in my case the larger issues was, it seemed to cut only one way, as 'who started it' was conveniently ignored and the whole 'two to tango' was used as excuse to go after only me. But I digress. That's the dark times of Pchan, not really here, albeit I did have some troubles that way on occasion.

Extremely apt.
Politics is toxic as hell, and really just needs be flatly banned from any community.
Maybe you could've talked it out once, long ago, but, frankly, shit's so devisive that there's not really much salvaging it. Some folk'll throw around threats, insults, accusations, and insist you're just lying about every single thing you say, even if it's mundane as hell (See, "Texas isn't southern"), and it'll just escalate and escalate as these types usually hold a grudge, claim those arguments are your entire personality, and insist that not only are you an evil scum who shouldn't be given the time of day, but as we see here again... Everyone else who does is ALSO a bad person.
Needless to say, this is corrosive as fuck for a community.
Politics are shit. Just don't do 'em. Leave it for X.
>>1209828>No where in the ponyville constitution does it say that by posting here *we* implicitly agreed to provide the emotional labor for *their* project to try and rehabilitate people like that. No, but at least talking to Moony, I think it's pretty clear he wanted the place to be home to most anyone. And that, I think, is the big piece.
"Love and Tolerate" was a mantra Moony took particularly to heart.

>>1209828Am I... reading this correctly? You're literally admitting to trying your best to make this site worse?
I was honestly giving you the benefit of the doubt here. I was HOPING this was you trying to make a point of calling out bigotry, thinking it was somehow doing something positive, which would at least justify your actions somewhat. I was pointing out that all it does is disrupt the site because nobody's opinions are going to be changed and there's no real-world threat because this site disallows that sort of rhetoric through enforced civility standards and a politics ban. I was thinking you were doing something for good reasons but ending up with bad results.
But here you are, admitting that your behavior exists solely to disrupt the site.
CLEARLY this board is not the 2011 Ponychan you wish it was. Acting the way you do is not going to force it to become that, you're just making a worse experience for literally everyone, not just the people you hate.
If you dislike the way the site is ran so much... stop using it. I don't
want to say "just leave" because you do bring a lot of good things to this site,
when you're not purposefully being disruptive. But at this point, what else is there to really say? It really seems to me that you would be much better off just not being here. And the site would too. Someone who actively works to make the site worse is not someone who should be on the site.

>>1209841 It's true: PC pearl-clutching by moral busybodies does annoy me to the point that I will make posts to argue against it. Guilty as charged.
The feeling is very mutual. You and yours are the primary reason I have no desire to post here any more. So I guess you have succeeded in that respect.
>start a fight over the fact that someone there on your ponychan posted a link to a thread hereNow maybe you're just completely oblivious to the goings on around you, but there are people here on Ponyville who want/ed to grow Ponyville by siphoning off Ponychan users, and that's regardless of whether you support them doing so or agree with them doing so. This includes not only the people who perpetrated the forced merger (a.k.a. shutdown), but also others from here who only ever show up on Ponychan to tell people to leave there and come here - you know, the place where all the "acceptable" Ponychan folks ended up. It became enough of a problem that Ponychan no longer allows links to here. And even then, you have folks here on Ponyville insisting that Ponychan somehow owes it to them, to let Ponyville siphon users (the fuck!?). And this is, of course, after the forced merger that already sent 90% of Ponychan's user base here. So let's put things into context: the person in question was upset that they weren't allowed to post a link, after others did so repeatedly just to get people to leave Ponychan and come here. And they were also upset that I insisted a thread be started on Ponychan instead of here, because that interfered with the beneficiaries of the forced merger and the goal of moving all activity from Ponychan to Ponyville.
Sorry, not sorry. That policy will stand until there is any level of reciprocity - where at this time there is exactly zero. You have here on Ponyville 1) the people who left Ponychan long ago, 2) the people who came here by default after the shutdown, 3) the people who don't like the vibes and/or the administration of current Ponychan, 4) the people who only care about the level of engagement on their posts, and 5) the people who never got the memo after the shutdown / only ever saw the public announcements - which told them to come here. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone reads pinned posts or checks sites with any regularity. Some may not come back for years at a time. But whatever the cause, it serves those of you who want to even temporarily swell the ranks, to pretend that no incarnation of Ponychan even exists.
This is why whenever someone shows up and laments the loss of Ponychan, not one single person, not a single one, will ever say "oh by the way, there's still a Ponychan." Clearly that's too generous. How about "There's some Ponychan knockoff still up"? Nah, even that's too generous, because even acknowledging the site's existence hurts the would-be user base on Ponyville. "Boat's running some piece of shit site claiming to be Ponychan"? nah, even that would be too generous. Because it's better to say "yeah, golly gee, that sucks, it's just gone forever with no trace left behind" and pretend this is the only option, as Ponychan's previous administration explicitly intended. And of course on the flip side, when you've had individuals from Ponychan who've come here and talked about it, you have the anons, cowards who refuse to use their names of course, taking pot shots, spreading lies, starting rumors, etc. We've seen examples of that even since this very thread went up. And this didn't start three weeks ago. I've been watching this play out, for 2.5 years now.
What you guys decide to do at this point, is of little consequence. Despite whatever the administration here might have said in the past, the actual users of this site clearly don't want to work together in any way, and so be it. If people decide to use Ponychan, they can. Or they can decide not to. The former users who've already written it off are not the people I'm concerned about at this point.

>>1209853>Am I... reading this correctly? You're literally admitting to trying your best to make this site worse?Mostly out of petty vengence and years of frustration. Mondo's inaction over what happened in Noelle's pride thread was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm sick of posters who clearly don't care about the intent of the rules and merely placate the mods.
>I was honestly giving you the benefit of the doubt here. I was HOPING this was you trying to make a point of calling out bigotry, thinking it was somehow doing something positive, which would at least justify your actions somewhat.I mean, before the things that happened in the Pride month thread that would've been partly true. But that was never my intent in getting into arguments in the past, I just lost control over shit happening here I specifically left ponychan to get away from, especially when it was happening cause of the mods unwillingness to do anything about it or incompetence to recognize how easy it is to violate rule 1 without also violating rule 3. At this point though I'm just bitter and fed up, the pride thread was the last straw. No one had any justification for trying to turn it into a /townhall/. All I did was express my feelings about the police at an incident at a pride parade I was planning to attend, not trying to make some righteous stand about something like you seem to think I need to be doing to justify just expressing frustration. For that I get a bunch of people ganging up on me to prove it's not fake news.
I don't give a shit if this makes things on this site worse for you, all the people Mondo did nothing about despite my and Noelle's reporting make everything here worse.
>I was pointing out that all it does is disrupt the site because nobody's opinions are going to be changed and there's no real-world threat because this site disallows that sort of rhetoric through enforced civility standards and a politics ban.You know what one of my best memories here on ponyville was?
It was the thread I made after my mom died in the pandemic. I was at one of the lowest points in my life and many of you showed up and help me feel seen and less alone. That's why I stayed here.
And you know what? Maybe I want to make another serious thread like that cause right now a lot of things in my life are pretty precarious and my mental health is really strained. Unfortunately a big part of it has to do with current events and the fact that I got gender-affirming care out here. Is it at all fair that I wouldn't be able to even express my feelings about them without violating the politics ban. Is it at all fair that I would be dragged into a fight over whether or not anything I was talking about happening was fake news or not? The pride thread just reinforces me that with the people who are here I could absolutely expect that would happen and plenty of people would use it as permission to violate the politics ban, and turn it into a /townhall/ thread.
If that happened would I
need to be making some huge moral stand to justify feeling angry and frustrated when the exact people you'd expect to do that would do that?
You may like whatever content they post, but do you not see how from my perspective they are basically holding this site hostage under threats to be uncivil if I express what I want to express?
>CLEARLY this board is not the 2011 Ponychan you wish it was.It was, for years, before old ponychan shutdown.
>Acting the way you do is not going to force it to become that, you're just making a worse experience for literally everyone, not just the people you hate. I've been here 10 years at this point. And the entire reason I hate who I hate is how they make this place worse for me and everyone else, regardless of how you personally feel about them when they're not being disruptive and demonstrating their lack of sincere consideration for the intent of the rules, waiting for any pretense, like they did in the pride thread
>If you dislike the way the site is ran so much... stop using it. I don't want to say "just leave" because you do bring a lot of good things to this site, when you're not purposefully being disruptive. I was here first.
>It really seems to me that you would be much better off just not being here. And the site would too.I was here first.
>Someone who actively works to make the site worse is not someone who should be on the site.Nor should anyone who pretends to care about the intent of the sites rules and treats any
perceived violation of the rules as permission to break rules in turn.
But we're past that point. The pride thread proved that. The mods are unreliable and none of these posters sincerely respect the rules, and I can't talk about what I want to.
So fuck it all. I would much rather drive these people out and send them to ponychan if they'd going to effectively hold this site hostage. And if you don't like that than you can leave with them.

>>1209941>"Why can't I just say police in the most liberal area of the country are just attacking and beating up trans people indiscriminately without people responding!"The irony is, nobody was saying it was "fake news"... On the contrary, the news seemed to be very accurate; Police came in because of some vandals, arrested those vandals, and that was about it. Vandals that were confirmed by other witnesses, no less, from within the pride parade...
By your own breakdown in
>>1208391 , it's made explicitly clear that they arrested a very small number, and that protesters explicitly attempted to prevent them from even doing that.
This very clearly isn't "indiscriminately beating and arresting trans people". Even if we assume by the way that every single individual at this pride parade was trans, which seems rather unlikely in the first place...
And I know, you want to say "It's just my feelings!"
But you and I both know if I said "The thing about Andrea that pisses me off is her blatant homophobia and racism" you'd call it out, 'feeling' or no.
Though arguably, in this case, it warrants something more than that even, since this is a factual claim of "arresting and beating up trans people seemingly indiscriminately", but, I digress, you get the point.
It's a patently absurd statement, to begin with. Obviously it'll get people responding. This shouldn't be a surprise to you.

>>1209941Your frustration doesn't justify your actions.
Other people breaking the rules does not justify you also breaking the rules. This goes for them as well, but you have no reason to fall into the same pitfall.
You say that they are "holding the site hostage" when you're literally doing the exact same thing. If people don't act the way you want them to act, you will start to break the rules and make the site worse for everyone involved. It doesn't matter if they do the same thing, there's no reason for you to become a rulebreaker as well.
It doesn't matter if you were here first. This site is for everyone, not just the people you like.
It doesn't matter if you were here first. I was on Twitter before Elon Musk bought it. I was on Ponychan before it fell into endless drama. I left those sites because they stopped being places that brought me joy to be a part of. You have no right to be disruptive and treat this site like your own personal battleground just because you were here first. If you don't like the way a site is being run and you don't like the people there, you have no right to break rules and start fights just because you were there first and you think the people that came later shouldn't be. Not to mention, you're just Sunk Costing yourself with this. I don't think it's healthy for you to stick around if you're already going through a bunch of shit in your real life.
You talk a lot about sincerely respecting the rules, yet you're openly admitting to not respecting them either. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Unironically, your statements made here in these last couple of posts should get you permanently banned from the site. Openly admitting to trying to get people to leave because you don't like them and openly admitting that you're willing to break the rules if they do. It's just absolutely wild.

>>1209897 true.
>>1209898 I was pretty that sure none of you knew. I look forward to working together to get to the bottom of the troll issues we talked about.
>>1209915 ah, the famous "No True Ponychan" argument... yes, I'm sure Ponychan hasn't existed since the time of Orange or whatever. which I was also around for, mind you.
Also, funny, but I could say the same thing about Ponyville... "Ponyville died a long. LONG time ago and the dead horse you're beating here doesn't change that."
>>1209916 The admins forcing a merger under false pretenses isn't a conspiracy theory - just a literal conspiracy, confirmed explicitly by one of the parties directly involved.
The poaching from Ponychan also isn't a conspiracy theory, as there is no conspiracy. It's just an emergent behavior driven by the actions of select users of Ponyville, without coordination between users here, that others benefit from whether they know it, acknowledge it, or not.
>>1209921 The absentee admin had little to do with it, other than rubber-stamping the shutdown after the fact and then arguing in favor of something she didn't even comprehend.
