>>1209841 It's true: PC pearl-clutching by moral busybodies does annoy me to the point that I will make posts to argue against it. Guilty as charged.
The feeling is very mutual. You and yours are the primary reason I have no desire to post here any more. So I guess you have succeeded in that respect.
>start a fight over the fact that someone there on your ponychan posted a link to a thread hereNow maybe you're just completely oblivious to the goings on around you, but there are people here on Ponyville who want/ed to grow Ponyville by siphoning off Ponychan users, and that's regardless of whether you support them doing so or agree with them doing so. This includes not only the people who perpetrated the forced merger (a.k.a. shutdown), but also others from here who only ever show up on Ponychan to tell people to leave there and come here - you know, the place where all the "acceptable" Ponychan folks ended up. It became enough of a problem that Ponychan no longer allows links to here. And even then, you have folks here on Ponyville insisting that Ponychan somehow owes it to them, to let Ponyville siphon users (the fuck!?). And this is, of course, after the forced merger that already sent 90% of Ponychan's user base here. So let's put things into context: the person in question was upset that they weren't allowed to post a link, after others did so repeatedly just to get people to leave Ponychan and come here. And they were also upset that I insisted a thread be started on Ponychan instead of here, because that interfered with the beneficiaries of the forced merger and the goal of moving all activity from Ponychan to Ponyville.
Sorry, not sorry. That policy will stand until there is any level of reciprocity - where at this time there is exactly zero. You have here on Ponyville 1) the people who left Ponychan long ago, 2) the people who came here by default after the shutdown, 3) the people who don't like the vibes and/or the administration of current Ponychan, 4) the people who only care about the level of engagement on their posts, and 5) the people who never got the memo after the shutdown / only ever saw the public announcements - which told them to come here. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone reads pinned posts or checks sites with any regularity. Some may not come back for years at a time. But whatever the cause, it serves those of you who want to even temporarily swell the ranks, to pretend that no incarnation of Ponychan even exists.
This is why whenever someone shows up and laments the loss of Ponychan, not one single person, not a single one, will ever say "oh by the way, there's still a Ponychan." Clearly that's too generous. How about "There's some Ponychan knockoff still up"? Nah, even that's too generous, because even acknowledging the site's existence hurts the would-be user base on Ponyville. "Boat's running some piece of shit site claiming to be Ponychan"? nah, even that would be too generous. Because it's better to say "yeah, golly gee, that sucks, it's just gone forever with no trace left behind" and pretend this is the only option, as Ponychan's previous administration explicitly intended. And of course on the flip side, when you've had individuals from Ponychan who've come here and talked about it, you have the anons, cowards who refuse to use their names of course, taking pot shots, spreading lies, starting rumors, etc. We've seen examples of that even since this very thread went up. And this didn't start three weeks ago. I've been watching this play out, for 2.5 years now.
What you guys decide to do at this point, is of little consequence. Despite whatever the administration here might have said in the past, the actual users of this site clearly don't want to work together in any way, and so be it. If people decide to use Ponychan, they can. Or they can decide not to. The former users who've already written it off are not the people I'm concerned about at this point.

>>1209853>Am I... reading this correctly? You're literally admitting to trying your best to make this site worse?Mostly out of petty vengence and years of frustration. Mondo's inaction over what happened in Noelle's pride thread was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm sick of posters who clearly don't care about the intent of the rules and merely placate the mods.
>I was honestly giving you the benefit of the doubt here. I was HOPING this was you trying to make a point of calling out bigotry, thinking it was somehow doing something positive, which would at least justify your actions somewhat.I mean, before the things that happened in the Pride month thread that would've been partly true. But that was never my intent in getting into arguments in the past, I just lost control over shit happening here I specifically left ponychan to get away from, especially when it was happening cause of the mods unwillingness to do anything about it or incompetence to recognize how easy it is to violate rule 1 without also violating rule 3. At this point though I'm just bitter and fed up, the pride thread was the last straw. No one had any justification for trying to turn it into a /townhall/. All I did was express my feelings about the police at an incident at a pride parade I was planning to attend, not trying to make some righteous stand about something like you seem to think I need to be doing to justify just expressing frustration. For that I get a bunch of people ganging up on me to prove it's not fake news.
I don't give a shit if this makes things on this site worse for you, all the people Mondo did nothing about despite my and Noelle's reporting make everything here worse.
>I was pointing out that all it does is disrupt the site because nobody's opinions are going to be changed and there's no real-world threat because this site disallows that sort of rhetoric through enforced civility standards and a politics ban.You know what one of my best memories here on ponyville was?
It was the thread I made after my mom died in the pandemic. I was at one of the lowest points in my life and many of you showed up and help me feel seen and less alone. That's why I stayed here.
And you know what? Maybe I want to make another serious thread like that cause right now a lot of things in my life are pretty precarious and my mental health is really strained. Unfortunately a big part of it has to do with current events and the fact that I got gender-affirming care out here. Is it at all fair that I wouldn't be able to even express my feelings about them without violating the politics ban. Is it at all fair that I would be dragged into a fight over whether or not anything I was talking about happening was fake news or not? The pride thread just reinforces me that with the people who are here I could absolutely expect that would happen and plenty of people would use it as permission to violate the politics ban, and turn it into a /townhall/ thread.
If that happened would I
need to be making some huge moral stand to justify feeling angry and frustrated when the exact people you'd expect to do that would do that?
You may like whatever content they post, but do you not see how from my perspective they are basically holding this site hostage under threats to be uncivil if I express what I want to express?
>CLEARLY this board is not the 2011 Ponychan you wish it was.It was, for years, before old ponychan shutdown.
>Acting the way you do is not going to force it to become that, you're just making a worse experience for literally everyone, not just the people you hate. I've been here 10 years at this point. And the entire reason I hate who I hate is how they make this place worse for me and everyone else, regardless of how you personally feel about them when they're not being disruptive and demonstrating their lack of sincere consideration for the intent of the rules, waiting for any pretense, like they did in the pride thread
>If you dislike the way the site is ran so much... stop using it. I don't want to say "just leave" because you do bring a lot of good things to this site, when you're not purposefully being disruptive. I was here first.
>It really seems to me that you would be much better off just not being here. And the site would too.I was here first.
>Someone who actively works to make the site worse is not someone who should be on the site.Nor should anyone who pretends to care about the intent of the sites rules and treats any
perceived violation of the rules as permission to break rules in turn.
But we're past that point. The pride thread proved that. The mods are unreliable and none of these posters sincerely respect the rules, and I can't talk about what I want to.
So fuck it all. I would much rather drive these people out and send them to ponychan if they'd going to effectively hold this site hostage. And if you don't like that than you can leave with them.

>>1209941>"Why can't I just say police in the most liberal area of the country are just attacking and beating up trans people indiscriminately without people responding!"The irony is, nobody was saying it was "fake news"... On the contrary, the news seemed to be very accurate; Police came in because of some vandals, arrested those vandals, and that was about it. Vandals that were confirmed by other witnesses, no less, from within the pride parade...
By your own breakdown in
>>1208391 , it's made explicitly clear that they arrested a very small number, and that protesters explicitly attempted to prevent them from even doing that.
This very clearly isn't "indiscriminately beating and arresting trans people". Even if we assume by the way that every single individual at this pride parade was trans, which seems rather unlikely in the first place...
And I know, you want to say "It's just my feelings!"
But you and I both know if I said "The thing about Andrea that pisses me off is her blatant homophobia and racism" you'd call it out, 'feeling' or no.
Though arguably, in this case, it warrants something more than that even, since this is a factual claim of "arresting and beating up trans people seemingly indiscriminately", but, I digress, you get the point.
It's a patently absurd statement, to begin with. Obviously it'll get people responding. This shouldn't be a surprise to you.

>>1209941Your frustration doesn't justify your actions.
Other people breaking the rules does not justify you also breaking the rules. This goes for them as well, but you have no reason to fall into the same pitfall.
You say that they are "holding the site hostage" when you're literally doing the exact same thing. If people don't act the way you want them to act, you will start to break the rules and make the site worse for everyone involved. It doesn't matter if they do the same thing, there's no reason for you to become a rulebreaker as well.
It doesn't matter if you were here first. This site is for everyone, not just the people you like.
It doesn't matter if you were here first. I was on Twitter before Elon Musk bought it. I was on Ponychan before it fell into endless drama. I left those sites because they stopped being places that brought me joy to be a part of. You have no right to be disruptive and treat this site like your own personal battleground just because you were here first. If you don't like the way a site is being run and you don't like the people there, you have no right to break rules and start fights just because you were there first and you think the people that came later shouldn't be. Not to mention, you're just Sunk Costing yourself with this. I don't think it's healthy for you to stick around if you're already going through a bunch of shit in your real life.
You talk a lot about sincerely respecting the rules, yet you're openly admitting to not respecting them either. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Unironically, your statements made here in these last couple of posts should get you permanently banned from the site. Openly admitting to trying to get people to leave because you don't like them and openly admitting that you're willing to break the rules if they do. It's just absolutely wild.
