I remember reading a bit of the comics once, it was a "beach episode" comic where the girls were in Ponyville getting ready to go to the beach, and the next page, they were by the sea. It was if it implied Ponyville was a coastal town, when really it's just south of Canterlot.

 No.1199043

>>1199042
I wouldn't be surprise if the comic had some contradictions. Different writers and executives and all. I always take the MLP:FiM comics with a grain of salt. Especially given the MYM comics are better than the cartoon itself.

Of course it did have contradictions, and it was made over a long time. Many later seasons could contradict earlier comic ideas.

That's why I take comic adaptions with a grain of salt and not regard it fully-canon to the cartoons.

If cartoons had at least some reference or elements from the comics now and again, then maybe, but usually it's the other way round.

I finally got a new recliner! Hopefully it will last as long as its predecessor.

Pros-
Made from a more comfortable material, somewhat like leather?
I don't need to tug the lever roughly.

Cons-
I have to struggle to push the extended foot rest back down.

Still, happy with new chair.

i'm doin fine! resting and winding down before bed, and today was more or less just chill

although boy do i have a story to share ><

so two days ago, i was at the park, and it was primarily a slow day at the park with barely anyone. it was quiet and very mundane for the most part; we had enough relief on staff to focus on things like polishing one of the rides.

all day was like this, until one hour before the park closes. I was with my co-supervisor just working on a ride to make it shiny, when one of my ride opps comes up to me, clearly flustered and upset, telling me "get the owner or manager on the radio or somebody cause this group is absolutely insane right now!"

as a supervisor, i exit the ride i was working on, and i go to where he was talking about. a giant group of moms and their swarm of kids, probably like 14-16 kids amongst them and 7 moms were moving away from the ride, and i see my beleagured ride opp who told me that "none of the kids listened, some of them were standing mid ride, on tops of stuff!" etc.

now i'm on alert mode, so i look for this group of kids and adults. and i decide to shadow them; see what they do, and interviene when i need to

it did not take long for me to have to step in multiple times to make sure they didn't bum rush gates, made sure they had wrist bands or tickets, and soon learn that all the moms were Karens to the nth degree, arguing every single rule that i enforced "they told us we didn't need tickets! they're tall enough! why are you yelling?" and my other co-supervisor and i were jsut getting swamped with them, all the while making sure the rides were running with no real issues to the best of our abilities. a couple of the moms claimed i was "crucifying them" for "trying to have a good time"

i followed them for a bit, and we got to one of the bigger rides where kids need to ride with adults. and when i asked for tickets, they were so mad, and pulled the "let me speak with your manager" bullshit. although one of the other moms had miraculously had a ticket (as though they realized they needed them earlier somehow) and we were able to start the ride, with like 10 minutes left to go of the day. a bunch of kids were clamouring around another ride, and so for the sake of maintaining peace, i ran that ride for their kids.

the rides come to an end, and we have to usher people to leave, and i remember one girl, who unfortunately took after her mother, try to demand a ride, call my co supervisor a hater, and stormed off.

finally, we were free of this nightmare group; by far the worst i've ever had to deal with.

however, according to my manager, the owner, and a couple other people who had to deal with them on the way out. they complained about me and my co supe on the way out. saying how i was stalking them and harassing them etc. then they called the front office to complain with the same thing

then literally the next day the dad of one of the kid groups (who was not even there) called in a beligerent tone, demanding that i be fired, and that he had "video proof" of me yelling at his child. (i love that the owner was like "yeah, well send it to me" and he never got a response from that")

then the other moms called a few more times after that.

fortunately, nothing came of it, and every single person who came into contact with them unanimously agrees that they were assholes. and also have started jokingly called me a meany and trouble maker, but if anything, i'm glad i gave them a shit time by doin my damn job

looking back on it, i can't help but laugh, it was like something out of a youtube compilation of karens being assholes; and you never think these people actually exist until you come face to face with them!

anyways, i hope you are doin well!

 No.1199331

My ideas for movies:

A psychological horror movie of teens and young adults trapped in an expanding school with no exits, and the teachers are just chalk drawings on blackboards, but everyone believes they're just at school while plastered to their mobile devices. The protagonist is a dweebish, insecure, arrogant runt of a man, whose social media reputation is abysmal that he is the first to be aware he's trapped in some sort of school dimension.

A parody/adaption of The Island of Dr. Moraeu, only instead of human-animal hybrids, it's just people in furry convention costumes.

As for a run, not a great way to START when you're out of shape, as you're just running with a ton of weight. At least, in my experience.

Gyms bank on this.

That said, I still think gyms are a waste of time. Just build a cabin instead. Hike a few 4x4 posts up a mountain and you'll gain arms AND have a cool shack too.

That's a lot of words for "I don't understand the concept of a fictional extreme example made for the purpose of communicating a point".

The membership isn't literally five Dollars, obviously. I just do not have the monthly income to add more monthly expenses.

If you absolutely must know it's closer to 60+ dollars, which is about 1/10th of what I have left to live on after bills most months - for food, transport, clothes, medicine, any and all unforeseen expenses, leisure - everything. In a country where absolutely everything, as a standard, is taxed 25% for the welfare system that is the main reason I can stay afloat at all.

I also literally started out openly admitting I am not a gym person and did not enjoy it when I did go regularly some time back.

So yes, I did say outright from the very beginning that I am "lazy", and I will be expecting those respect points you just promised me in my mailbox in the morning. I simply added that even if I wasn't, the cost was also a problem.

But then you'd have to actually read a couple more posts to get just a little bit of context, and that would hurt your Chance to make a big strong scary edgy post about how much better you are than everyone else in here, so I guess I can't blame you for conveniently failing to do so.

Funny thing is, I was actually going to post about how I felt a bit bad and how I wanted to apologize for getting late-night snippy about what seemed to otherwise be a well meaning comment. Good thing I didn't get that far so you could have a second to be about five times as big of an ass, huh?

Making assumptions about my situation based on absolutely no knowledge of my life and calling me a liar and other names for it is not and has never fit within any definition of "tough love". That is going to make people less than happy in most situations.

Neither is threatening violence with some r/Iamverybadass level nonsense the second I don't clap my little hands and jump up and down in excitement, thanking you to high heavens for it.

I admitted I got a bit needlessly snippy about the remark on the cost. I can blame the late hour and hearing it all the time whenever the subject of my situation comes up. That doesn't change that it was a bit uncalled for. That's definitely on me.

I also even said outright at first that your encouragement was a nice sentiment that I appreciated, and that the issue was never that I did t believe these things weren't possible or effective, but that I found next to no enjoyment in it at all.

But you seem to have ignored that part too in your eagerness to throw around threats of violence when you don't immediately get praised for "tough love" as you call terms like "liar" and "butterball".

Please try basing your ideas of tough love on something other than the sports coaches from 80ies movies that you are supposed to consider the villain.

 No.1199476

>>1199475
Oh, sorry. "Meatball".

You're so right. Being pedantic about half of a word completely erases the entire part where you resorted to insults when I didn't praise you like some shining golden God of motivation.

It's definitely not a sign of having nothing of actual value to say in response and thus laser focusing on a pointless aspect to distract from it.

Good thing you were here to set the record straight on that.

I did say that, though. Pretty much every single step of the way. At least read the posts you respond to if you're gonna try the tough guy route over them.

Again, I do appreciate the intial intent of encouragement. That part did not change at any point.

I get the brilliant idea to move to Steam to play Final Fantasy XIII
I get the game to start, the first battle opens and the game keeps crashing.

I really pray they bring final fantasy XIII to the consoles again some day.

A month as in a month as in a month. Four weeks. 30-31 days. I've already lost like three months to this. Being mentally ill is suffering.

Aside from that... I mean that's kind of been the dominant issue of my life for a while, there's not too much to report. I guess I'm sitting in a Discord voice call right now, that's something. It's freeform to a pretty ludicrous degree. The levels lay out paths for you to follow and all, but there's absolutely nothing stopping you from completely ignoring them and getting creative in the way you approach the challenges they set out.

What makes that interesting here in specific is that normally when that kind of thing happens, it's unintentional. It's usually because the devs didn't think things all the way through, and you're usually skipping over part of the intended experience of the game. But here it is the intended experience. There's a path to follow if you want to, but rarely does the game tell you what to do or how to approach things, and whether you follow the path or make your own doesn't really matter to it as long as you're having fun. It's almost more like a toy, in the same way the Sims games are - you have tools and suggestions for what to do, but in the end it's almost entirely up to you how you want to play.

There's a level called the Racing Layer, which is a layer where you're supposed to walk up to the counter and have a mounted race with Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong for the right to win a massive trophy, at the top of which is the way to the next level. But the level is designed in such a way that if you use DK's moveset to its full capacity, you can fairly easily get onto the track on foot, walk across it, and climb up the trophy without talking to anyone. And the game lets you do this without breaking, without complaining, and without making it so obtuse or mechanically difficult that it's not viable.

It's amazing. I've never experienced game design like it. Just a total lack of conceit and commitment to genuine fun on the part of the devs.

It's a very very big trophy. We're talking like skyscraper-sized.

It's also mostly made of gold, and gold is a form of currency. You can destroy the whole thing for a crapton of gold (though it'll take a long time), leave, come back, and do it again as much as you want. But again, the game doesn't care if you do or don't do this. It'll be fun and you'll have a lot of gold, which you can use to buy useful things, but there's nothing you can buy that'll obliterate the game's difficulty curve or anything like that.

"A lot of people say so" is not a particularly sound argument, because that's true of a LOT of flat out disproven nonsense. And the absence of proof against something's existance is not necessarily equal to proof of existance.

If you were going that route, you should at least bring up how folklore and religion from various cultures that have not had much historical interaction often play on the same basic stories or ideas, though viewed through their own cultural lens.

For the record, I don't necessarily refuse to believe in various spiritual ideas. But "a lot of people Hve claimed for a long time" is a non-argument.

the thing is that our only ways to showcase any ghost stuff, if it exists either is personal anecdote, which is subjective and unreliable; or the equipment that we use is something that can be explained via other methods

so from my perspective, until we have technology that can explain ghost stuff irrefutably, or can pass the rigors of evidential scrutiny in a way where it is the most plausible outcome, i don't know if one CAN prove ghosts exist or not. and lack of evidence is not proof of absence

for the record, i personally think that ghosts do exist, but i also recognize that literally anything that says it proves it can be explained via other methods

we may, but then they have to do everything they can to prove that it isn't something else causing it, whether it's electric interference, animals, technical malfunction, and that's not assuming that the people that do have proof aren't just creating a hoax for viewership

now, could there be scientific studies done with the technology we have to do that? maybe, but that would require a lot of funding, and years worth of research, and how does one find a significant control setting to test it against? all of which i don't really see the scientific community valuing in proceeding to study at this time; also it doesn't help that it could also be seen as a inflicted self harm to the credibility of a research team to do that because of the stigma that is paranormal research in the eyes of the scientific community

again, this is not to say that it's proof that it doesn't exist, but rather i don't know if that it's something people will find worth proving/disproving on the level sufficient enough to study, for something that may ultimately be just inconclusive

now, i do believe ghosts exist in some degree, but i'm not one to put merit into what i see online

Think of it this way.
Every single time mind powers or ghost reports have been scrutinized, any definitive answer has been "It's fake." Not a single time has it ever been shown real. Using the same logic you use, "If it's really real, why are all the provable reports disproved?"

In the words of Tim Minchin,
"Throughout history, every mystery ever solved has turned out to be: Not Magic."

I know it's just, things like psychic powers, ghosts and witchcraft have been around since ancient civilizations. If these things have been disproven over and over again, why do people still insist?
Do they do it for attention? For profit? For tomfoolery? Why put so much effort into something that's constantly disproven?
Jeeze, I'm starting to sound like a neigh-sayer and I'm a believer.

>I mean, it was really hard to prove neutrinos or gravity waves exist. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to demonstrate something like ghosts?
For all we know, we already have the technology to proove ghosts exist and sceptics just say it's a fault in the technology or something of the like.

For example, the XBox Kinect is sometimes used as a ghost-hunting tool because the same lasers that are used to map out surroundings and motion-detect people can also pick up on spirits as well.
However, some excuse it that given the Kinect was not made as a ghost-hunting device, it could be picking up furniture or shadows that the Kinect "think" it's human, which has happened before.

In fact, I still got my XBox 360 Kinect. The last time I used it was in my previous home. I was messing around with the stick-figure feature and the Kinect camera made out a small invisible person just chilling by my window behind me.
My house at the time was not haunted, nor am I saying this was a genuine ghost encounter, it was just a one-time thing that happened.

I still got my Kinect camera, but for some reason, I can't get it to work. I wanted to use it as a standard webcam.

Nevermind if you don't like it.

It's a pretty strong fruity soda taste. (not sure if you really like anything outside of (sparkling) water)
So it's much like apple cider.

Or if you happen to try it, make sure that it's chilled.

I like fizzy drinks almost a bit too much.
When I'm not drinking Coca-Cola, I have Cawston Press drinks, which is just juice diluted with sparkling water.

I have never seen or tried Cawston press, but I would expect it to taste like cider.

It's not cider. Just juice and fizzy water.

Is it heavy in flavor? Or more like water with a faint whiff of fruit?

I know it's all the rage to have infusion stuff nowadays where the water just faintly tastes of strawberries.

It's heavy in flavour. I imagine its fruit concentrate diluted with fizzy water. It boasts there's nothing else added such as sugar, preservatives or the likes.

I like the apple and rhubarb drinks.

What's a root beer float; we don't have that over here.

How is Silent Hill, any good?

I'm alright, still playing Silksong. Weekend was good so far.

a root beer float is when you put vanilla ice cream in root beer. it's a classic combo and tastes very good

i'm loving it so far, definitely scratching a horror itch that i've been needing to scratch for the longest time; and the fog is still very foggy

nice! how is silksong treating ya? i hear that game is hard as balls

Ah, right. We lack the root beer for that!

Can't be Silent Hill without the fog! Does it have some good spooks?

Yeah, very hard. Making some progress though and easily beat two major bosses yesterday - which was like a first. It has finally paid of that I'm gathering all those items and upgrades instead of progressing.

ah you're missing out! it's good stuff! although you could make a Dr. Pepper float which is also pretty good too

it's gotten me on a couple occassions, but the atmosphere is very oppressive, which i love. i know that some people gripe about the combat, but i personally don't mind it. and i think it's the one game i've played that uses weapon degredation to it's advantage. on a few occassions, i dreaded getting into a fight in case i lose my weapon, so i really have to make decisions on whether to avoid or fight, and it works for me.

glad you rose to the occassion and got gud!

i'm probably gonna head to bed, but you take care, okay?

Are you in a general Bea mood?

We don't have Dr. Pepper either! At least I've never seen it.

Ah, so the weapons degrade? Is there genereally a lot of combat?

Maybe a little gud. Or just overpowered, heh.

Rest well!
