Just woke up from very strange dream.

I dreamt I was a survivor of a zombie apocalypse. Wandering down a main street, I noticed a group of zombies, so I decided to walk, not run, down a side street, because I figured the zombies were attracted to those who run.

I eventually found a shop window which was just sheltered enough for me to hide and observe as the street started being populated with traditional undead zombies.

I noticed one zombie jump on top of another zombie and then started running around rather fast. I wasn't sure what I was observing.

Then I noticed a woman zombie saw me, though actually she was looking at the jewellery in the shop window I was hiding in, I figured some sort of memory was triggered. Instead of breaking through the shop window, she went for the door, as it broke, the alarm went off, but for some reason, this excited her as she rushed into the store.

What happened next was rather explicit:
She began touching herself, going as far as taking off underwear beneath her skirt. The other zombies also started undressing and touching one another erotically, all the while chanting "morgy-orgy", or "more-G orgy". Some were looking right at me while repeating it, I dunno if they were aware of my presence or not.

What happened next was... I dunno, it was like a Wonka factory of crazy things. I witness these tubes squirt out colourful liquid that looked like paint or liquid candy and it formed into a zombie that coughed a bit, before liquidating and sliding down a hole. It was like I was in some sort of Willy Wonka sweet shop, and the horny zombies were using the machines to destroy or transform themselves (in non-violent ways) into different colourful states in order to achieve pleasures beyond they had in life.

I dunno. When I woke up, got out of my bed and sat down, I was like "Thank goodness we usually forget our dreams after waking up, because I don't get any of that."

zombie apocalypse = the suffering of the world
walking to not be noticed = conformity
shop window = computer desk
zombie jumping on zombie = mindlessness
jewelry = self-reflection/the best materialism has to offer; her preferring you = you remind her of her non-zombified self, which she prefers
explicit stuff & not being aware of your presence = watching too much corn on the computer
willy wonka = expression of sexual energy (or the end result of hedonism(?))/sexual energy transmutation?

Could be. I didn't fully understood what I was observing, but it seems the zombies were willing to turn themselves into colourful paste that could reshape themselves into new forms for sexual gratification... If it was even still sexual for them, I dunno.

I am on the computer a lot.

So I was browsing devART last night when I came across someone's gallery that consist of 3D models of rather curvy, busty women. I'm not sure what 3D modelling program they used, but it could've been anything given I notice the bodies of these models were made entirely from spheres.

So, on Curvy3D GO, I gave it a go copying their method, and I'm surprised how easy it was.
And before I get any odd looks why I am making such a busty, lewd model, keep in mind that:
• It's just for practicing/experimenting, I want to be able to make humanoid models.
• I can adjust the spheres allowing me to shape the model for any body size. So characters I could possibly make from this doesn't have to be over-sexual.
• I can merge the shapes, as well as curve, dent or sculpt body details. So finished characters won't look like they're made of balloons.

Yes, she looks doll or cartoon-like, I'm not going for AAA-game quality models, I just want to make something I can use for Godot or Unity that looks appealing. I figure, if I can make at least blank mannequin models like this one for each gender and body shape, it would save me time reusing them for various other characters in the future.

What bothers me though is, I can't apply the same method to make male bodies. Or, if it is possible, I don't know how. It's as if us guys are made from various misshapen lumps than spheres.
(I might be able to use the method to make +size male bodies, but I may need more practice.)
Hands and feet are also another matter entirely that I need to figure out.

I should at least try to use the sphere-method to make a male model out of my bimbo model.

I can adjust the legs for slimmer thighs and tuck the butt in a little.

And "pecs" are just breasts but squished-inward and all muscle.

I imagine "professional" 3D modellers may argue I can't just make humanoid models with spheres alone, but again, Curvy3D GO allows me to merge the shapes into one mass, as well as sculpt. So I don't need to make a sphere for each muscle of a six-pack.

If this goes well and as intended, I hope I can shape these mannequins for different body shapes. Such as slender, muscular, athletic, etc, whatever I need for future characters.

I'm starting to feel that feeling I had when I was a kid when I wanted to make video games again!

It's a bit ugly, may have screwed up the legs a little, but it's taking some shape. Having a bit of doubt over it, but I can easily shape it up if needed.

It also bothers me that Curvy3D GO does not have a "snap to grid" for aligning the middle-spheres, so there maybe some inconsistencies. Still, I could always cut the model in half down the middle and mirror it if such slight inconsistancies bother me that much.

While Curvy3D Go is a nice program to render with, when it comes to rendering hands, it's beyond my grasp.
>Rimshot.

So, I'm using AC3D, particularly and old version from 2008. Yeah, it's a cracked copy my brother got me given a current version costs $99, but in my defence this program is practically archaic compared to Blender and Curvy. The only reason I am decent with it is because of how simple and straight forward it is at the cost of 90% features that are standard to Blender. Like, when it comes to a basic sphere, you can only render it as a quadsphere, icosphere is not an option. You can tick "triangles" but that only divides the squares diagonally.

But, a particularly useful feature AC3D has is "subdivide" which provides preview of what your model would look like if it had twice as many vertexes and smoothed out. (So you can turn a cube into a deltoidal icositetrahedron and it'll still have eight corners you can mess around with until you "commit subdivision".)

TL;DR, I made a hand out of flat cube shapes and subdivide it to preview what it would look like with higher polygon render.

Also, I can import models as .obj, which I believe I can use on Curvy3D. So y'know, hoping for hands I can use.

The model so far.
Need to add back-muscles.
Dunno what more to do with the hands.
Oh, needs feet also.

When it's finished, what I'll do is merge all the spheres into one mass, making it a singular render. Then, I can use the various sculpturing tools to smooth out ridges or add muscles and the like.

Then I'll save it as a separate project so that in the future, if I want to make other characters of different body shapes, I can simply alter the spheres and repeat the process.

Dunno if I can use the same method to make slender-anime bodies with it, but don't see why not.

Only got a sketch so far.

They suggested I do more norse myth stuffx, and I don't wanna draw the most obvious stuff

So I looked up some of our more obscure myths, and we have something called a "Well Man" who drags victims down the mold wells, sometines with a primitive fishing spear. Not a lot of descriptions of what he looks like, but we have an old well in my town and..  boom.

Thinking I'll do this in all black and white foe a black shirt and use the same overall design template for more monster drawings later

Giving my "experiment" a go, I "Voxel merge group" the body parts...

I- I don't know why it's like that. For some reason it makes the spheres original square-polygons more prevalent despite each square being a higher poly-count.

I can decrease the resolution number down to at least 1% which makes it around 4720 tris which visually looks decent but has some really weird polygonal layout.

Hm, there maybe another way I can try with "Weld to Parent" but that only works piece-by-piece than able to select all the body parts and weld them together.

And, if all else fails, I can always port the model to Blender and try Booleaning it.

I won't say Curvy is a lost cause, but I might need to try and figure out the merging process on Blender, if possible.

If not, then... I dunno what else to do. Whole point of me turning to Curvy was a means of work-around for making characters for games.

I wish Blender had a simple, streamlined mode.

Anyway, I'll get ready for bed. Put my head around it when I'm not tired or hot.

I'm having second guesses with my method.
I mean, why does it look so square-lumpy and high poly-count?

If Curvy doesn't merge and render the model as I hope, I may have to seek alternate methods, maybe some trick with Blender.

Kind of, sort of what I'm after in Blender.
But when I port it back to Curvy3D and symmetrize it, I can still see some polygons that are crumpled in some places and useless in others.

I'm hoping Blender will have something like a "smart render", something that allows me to...
• Control and reduce the polygon-amount, while retaining its shape.
• Control how smooth the model will be.
• Remove and clean-up crumpled or unneeded polygons.
• Able to prevent some parts of the model from fusing, such as fingers, buttcrack, cleavage, etc.

I did find something similar to smooth down the model, but doesn't reduce polygon number.

I don't know.

I was hoping Curvy3D GO alone would have the features I need, but I am unsure now. That it's not as straight-forward as I hoped.

But, that doesn't make it any less useful as a modelling tool. Putting spheres together into a humanoid shape is still more than I could do on Blender.

I just hope Blender has a merge, smooth down and poly-reduce feature.

(I should also do something about those forearms. They're supposed to thin out to the wrist.)

Google, I guess?

Blender is an awesome program, but I find it rather advance. It's why I'm trying to find easier means to make character models. I was hoping  Curvy3D Go could help with that, but I'm starting to think that Curvy3D is for high rendered art that does not care over polygon counts if it's quality over quantity.

I think I'm starting to see why Curvy3D isn't brought up as a game development tool.

Yeah. Sketching and sculpting.
But I was hoping Curvy3D GO would have some better merging options. I mean, it does merge sure, but the result has high poly-count and looks lumpy. I believe it's because it makes models specifically for digital art than video game characters.

Curvy3D 5 does have boolean, I dunno if its voxel merge is any better.

I was hoping Curvy3D Go would just allow me to merge my model pieces into one smooth mass, with mid-poly rendering and clean vertex mapping, then I would port it to Blender for rigging. But I don't think that will be the case. I may have to rely on Blender for boolean and smoothing, if I ever figure it out.

I ain't quittin', but I'm gonna give this model a break for a while.
It's kind of hard to motivate given the warm weather of late.

But, I decided to replace the forearms from spheres to "lines". You can adust the thickness from each tip of the line, so I manage to make the forearms thin-out towards the wrist which look much more natural over Popeye beefy arms.

So I found that Blender had it's own voxel merge, but much more advance than Curvy. So I tried it and...

... well, I'm starting to feel I should find some new options. Because I'm starting to doubt my "spheres merge into a single neat model" idea will work. That Blender capable of creating a single merge figure from a collection of shapes and keep accurate to the mass' polygon structure, I doubt Blender is that advance enough for that.

I dunno, maybe I should just take a break from it all.

 No.1210886

File: 1786746763985.png (408.03 KB, 1920x1009, 1920:1009, Blender.png) ImgOps Google

I think I have done it! I finally achieved what I was after... sort of.

The spheres are clipped and rendered into the one model, the polycount is pretty much preserved, and I can smooth out the model without distortion.

It's not the straight-forward method I hoped for but it's something. It's not precisely how I imagined it, but it is still close to what I wanted.

But I will need to make sure I can rig a skeleton to it, so I can animate it. I imagine some of the joints will look ugly when they bend.

But I'll worry about that down the road. First, the Curvy3D model itself needs feet and back-muscles. I might make a proper head, then I'll port it to Bleder, Boolean+Smooth it, then I'll try to apply a skeleton and animation to it.
(Also, if I decided he will have a butt, I need to make sure buttocks don't merge together. This will also be an issue with mature female characters if I don't want to end up with monoboob.)

And once that's all done, I'll cross my fingers and see if I can get it to work as a playable character in Godot.

I believe a normal person would likely playtest with whatever they can download offline for a model, but I really want the ability to be able to create my own character models. doing all this is rekindling that childhood desire I had when I was a kid and I don't want to snuff it out again by giving up so soon.

But I did say I will take a quick break from it because it's hard to concentrate when my bedroom is too damn warm!

+Added neck.
-Removed "Chest" sphere, given pecs and other muscles were concealing it.
*Removal of Chest sphere, caused a dimple in the spine. May need to add a Line to fix it. (Will also fix tailbone dimple.)
+Replaced "Groin" sphere, given it wasn't centred, and the only way to centre spheres in the middle is to make brand-new spheres to adjust and not accidentally nudge them.
*May need to resize the feet, they look a bit long.
?May make a rough head.

I'm also learning other cool Blender tricks such as "merge by distance" where you can merge Vertexes close to one another into one. It's useful given, the fact they're spheres clumped together, there's 4-6 vertexes in close vicinity to one another that could be just the one vertex. But, I have to remember to merge the hands and feet afterwards or else the fingers and toes will merge.

>>1211033
Well, it's a process I imagine "proper modellers" will scoff at. I can't 3D render like regular modellers and was going to give up over it until I found this method.

1. Find a program you are, the very least decent at.
I came across Curvy3D on Steam, it doesn't seem to have much of a customer-base but there are those who still use it. Curvy3D 5 costs $100 (£83.99) while the introduction version Curvy3D GO costs $17.99 (£14.99). GO version is sort of like a demo version that doesn't have most of the features 5 has. I got GO at a discount.

2. I basically stuck a bunch of spheres together.
I imagine normal modellers start with a shape and add-extend faces and polygons to it and shape it to how they like it. I simply never had the nack for it. Then I noticed Roblox or certain Minecraft avatars tend to use basic shapes to put characters together. So I thought, why don't I try that?

So, I just made the model out of spheres. I made sure the spheres were at least at a decent poly-count as I put them together.

As for hands and feet, I actually used an even older 3D rendering program caled AC3D which is archaic, but gets the job done.

3. Port it to Blender
Once I'm satisfied with the model, on Curvy3D I export it as a Wavefront file (.obj).

Then, on Blender, I can import the model to use. Even if Blender is a lot to take in, there is still some basic functions I figured out such as :
* Object→Boolean, which merges all the spheres together into one mass, deletes all the contradicting polygons and makes rough vertexes and poorly-optimized fixes in place.
* Mesh→Clean Up, which allows deletion of "loose" polygons left over inside the model, as well as "Merge by Distance" which allows you to merge vertices close to one another at specified distance, controlling the polycount, which I'm still figureing out but important.
* Mirror, a modifyer that properly symmetricize your model.
* Smooth, a modifyer that smooths out your model, which gives it a more organic look.

Keep in mind, it's an "unclean" method of modelling. Lots of useless vertices and polygons will remain. You can use "Merge by Distance" in Edit Mode to clean them up (I'd recommend 0.250) but keep in mind of hands and feet that may get caught up in them.
So in short, Blender doesn't have the option to clean up your model for you, or re-render it for you.

There's also Symmetricize and Mirror, but this may cause some polygons to go missing.

I have never tried, on Curvy3D GO, increasing sphere resolutions to maximum and then try merge by distance to see if that's an approvement or not.

4. Add texture, armature and animations.
I've yet to reach this stage, but given my (failed) stint at making a GMod character one time, I have some experience with importing a character model, adding its texture and rigging an armature (a sort of virtual skeleton) to models. One time I even tried making VR hands.

Of course, the character model ended up distorted, but I think I half-know what I did wrong back then, and other half being it was for a Source Engine game.

5. My future plans.
If this process goes well then I hope to recycle the process to make more characters with it.

On Curvy3D GO, I could adjust the spheres and make different body-shapes for various characters. Men, women, children, fat, skinny, athletic, etc. I want to save a variety of these sphere-mannequins that I can then merge and make into models on Blender.

As for making actual characters, as in apply hair, clothing and such, well I may need to go back-and-forth with that given I'm better 3D rendering on Curvy3D than I am on Blender. But Blender can still offer editing details of .obj imported models, so I can make stuff on Curvy3D and put them together on Blender.

As for what I intend to do with these characters, well I want to get into Unity Engine, but it's rather advance. So I decided to give Godot Engine a go. I want to use my characters for them.
I may also give Blender's animation features a try and see if I can make my own entirely original animations from it, but right now, concentrating on Godot with this project.

My modelling tool of choice is Blender, though I'm not very good at making more than rudimentary objects. I'm surprised this one even turned out halfway decent, and I think part of the reason is because it's meant to be a 128x128 sprite so model details aren't as important, though its "walking" animation still looks less like walking and more like roller blading.

I haven't properly tried Godot yet.
I imagine a sane person would just download a character model from somewhere and test with that.
But I want to be able to make my own models for future projects.

I don't know if my method is the right way. Especially given parts of the model have clumps of vertices and polygons that seem useless, which is why I regard it a "dirty" method.

But when I do try to clean it up with Merge by Distance, it starts to look distorted. And when I try to fix it with Symmetry, ends up looking worse.

Still, as it is, it still looks visually pleasing. And I'm guessing a mid-poly character model under 7¼K is... good, I think? I don't really have a frame of reference other than it's not in the 10Ks, though I imagine the poly-count will increase when I apply details to it as character.

That, and trying to figure out how to prevent Boolean from merging buttocks and breasts.

But right now, I'm going to see if I can work on a face, then apply an armature for animations, or skip it and just do armature.

Without knowing a damn thing about 3D scultping, I'd smoothen out the muscles and teh connecting points between them.

Unless the character you are making has very defined muscles, this kind of build looks off. Like you're making Orbsman.

 No.1211081

>>1211080
If you check my previous posts with Blender, such as >>1210886, I experiment with a "smooth" modifier that just does that.

As I said on >>1211035, I regard it a "dirty method" of character modelling because, as you pointed out, pretty much an "orbsman". I use Boolean to merge the orbs together and then smooth it out to give it a more organic look. I call it a dirty method because, given it's spheres fused to one-another, there's leftover polygons from roughly merging these shapes into one. I can use Mesh>Clean Up>Merge by Distance which is used to rid of excess polygons, but I have to be careful given the polygons can deform and not be symmetrical with it, especially fingers and toes.

But, even without merging the excess vertexes, it still looks like a decent model.

I may have smoothed him down a bit too much.

I also notice dimples under his pecs. Can't get a convincing ass-crack, yet still get these dimples... typical.

EDIT: I just found out about "MakeHuman", I can get MakeHuman 2 as an app from the Steam store, or an addon for Blender. It does as the name says. it's free so I might get it for future projects.

However, I still want to make the most of my sphere-method because I like the idea of making cartoon-like characters with it. and MakeHuman, while advance, doesn't seem to offer that.

If you could make video games, what games you would make?
I have a few in mind. Right now, I'm simply trying to make a test demo on Godot. But if I make standard gameplay out of it, then I can perhaps build from it into more original projects.

A few of my ideas:
GoldEdge - I've yet to decide if a spin-off fan game of Golden Axe or make it an original thing. You play as someone who is isekai'd to a primal-fantasy world and must gather the nine Gold Edge weapons to reassemble a divine weapon needed to stop the big bad guy.
VR "belt" experiment - I played a few VR games and noticed how awkward inventory or weapon-management systems are. So I have one in mind I would like to try that involves a rotary inventory around the VR-players mid-section.
Sonic Ultimate - I always wanted to make a fully-3D Sonic fan game.
Sega Superstars VR - A collection of Sega-themed mini-games.

I have other games in mind I also want to make, but right now, I want to work on a Godot tech-demo just to see if I can use it, as well as make other tech demos that I can recycle into making new games with. Such as my VR belt idea, that will be a tech demo.

That sounds like it could be an interesting idea, if implemented correctly. One problem I think players would have is the difference in player height. A tall person designing it for their own height would cause it to be much harder for short people, and vice versa. And having the height be customizable would mean that the model would have to be either scalable or deform according to customization.
>Sonic Ultimate - I always wanted to make a fully-3D Sonic fan game.

>>1211128
Oh, ok. I just tested it and it looks like Mirror is similar to pressing s to scale, then setting the given axis, then entering -1. Where Symmetrize tries to make it symmetrical along an axis (X by default), removing vertices if it is unable to reliably move vertices to make the mesh symmetrical. So for example, I distorted a cube, then when symmetrized, it moved vertices and cut into it in order to make it symmetrical. But when I did the same to a sphere, it removed all vertices and lines except for the vertex ring.

So realistically, I would just stick with the mirror modifier, since it's nondestructive, at least until you apply it.

 No.1211131

>>1211130
>VR Belt
There can perhaps be some option to adjust the height for various size players, especially for players who choose not to or physically unable to stand for VR gaming.

>Mirror
Ah, a'ight. Will stick with Mirror.

I'll leave the head as it is and will begin with armature when I can. Though, I'm not looking forward to the arduous task of making each and every bone and rigging it to polygons and weights.

So I won't.

I found out about Rigify, which applies a humanoid skeleton to your model for you, so I may give that a try. As for if it comes with animations (walking, running) I don't know.

But I want to finish this model for my Godot test-demo.

Have you played Sonic Robo Blast 2? While it's technically already created, you could create maps for that. And while I'm not very familiar with Doom Legacy (the Doom source port that SRB2 uses), modern Doom engines allow for a lot of flexibility, to the point where there's a total conversion mod of SRB2, called Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart, that turns it into a Mario Kart clone with Sonic characters.

People are mad it's a comedy because the original game mostly took itself completely seriously and had a somewhat dark tone. There were a few moments of comedy here and there but it was mostly a serious game.

But the people behind the cartoon are literally people who make cartoon comedies like Rick and Morty and American Dad so it was really a stupid expectation to have just because of that.

Still doing some final tweaks before I attempt rigify.

I just wish I can do something about that butt. My attempt to boolean the buttocks separately, but not each other, has been in vain. If I can make the buttocks clip through one another, but still neatly attached to the body, then it would at least look more butt-crack like.

When I inevitably make female characters with this method, I don't want to end up with fused monoboob.

A danish one, so not one you know. It's by a guy named Bo Evers. Bit of a singer-songwriter dude, with a sort of comedic "woe is me, but it's my own fault" tinge to his lyrics. Like most of his percieved misfortune mostly befalls him, or at least doesn't get better, because he's kind of a wimp.

He has a song called "The Complaint Song" which is basically all about being a bit of an armchair politician thinking everything else in the world is wrong once you're relatively comfortable.

It's lovely here in my summer house
It smells like flowers, freshly brewed coffee and peace
Right until I turn on my TV and think to myself: "Good grief,
How the everliving hell did everything go so wrong?"

So tell me
Where can I file a complaint
About the state of the world today
The Hague Judgment Convention
Keeps telling me "We'll call you back"
Did I misunderstand something?
Is there an adult in the room who's going to do something?
Cause everything's gone wrong
Where can I file a complaint?

I really just mind my business, I don't do anything special
But every time I take a walk, I see some things
Some are okay, and others are almost impossible to bear
And I ask myself why some people must have such a hard time

So tell me
Where can I file a complaint
About the state of the world today
The Hague Judgment Convention
Keeps telling me "We'll call you back"
Did I misunderstand something?
Is there an adult in the room who's going to do something?
Cause everything's gone wrong
Where can I file a complaint?'

So tell me
Who the good people are crying
And the evil people are laughing
And the old people are drooling
And the young people are streaming
And everyone's slinging mud
Can somebody tell me
What's the big idea?

So tell me
Where can I file a complaint
About the state of the world today
The Hague Judgment Convention
Keeps telling me "We'll call you back"
Did I misunderstand something?
Is there an adult in the room who's going to do something?
Cause everything's gone wrong
