Nice! Now you can teach kung fu to random brown bears visiting the park. Are you back in you previous role?

It was good; some thing still don't make sense. I guess you'd need to replay it and do certain things for it to be clearer.

the bears and the moose will all be kung fu fighting when i'm done with them! and yes sorta? it's kinda weird, since i had to take time away for my dad, they gave the role was in to somebody else; but now that i'm coming back, they just made me an extra supervisor, however i will be trained on all the rides again so i can be sort of a flex supervisor between the front and the back. i'm glad that i got my job back tho, regardless of how bizarre the situation :P

that is fine! silent hill games are also known for having multiple endings with esoteric requirements. At least silent hill f lets you know what you need to do on subsequent playthroughs!

and just remember not to pop any more pills next time, you little drug addict ;P

As long as you get to ride the train and spin the wheel, everything is in order!

The only other Silent Hill games I played were Shattered Memories on the Wii (where what you needed to do makes sense), and Silent Hill 2 - where nothing makes sense.

It does? The only obvious thing to do is not eat any pills I guess; like you just said.

well i will get to do both now, so i get to do everything ><

i liked shattered memories myself, even if half of it was a running simulator, but the story was good. Silent Hill 2 is my favorite Silent Hill and just one of my favorite games of all time <3 and everything i said last time extends to that one, it's veeeeeeeeerry symbolic and psychological to a T

if i remember correctly there is a menu option that sorta gives you the list of potential endings where you can see what you need to achieve.

and i love the pills in the story, cause it is one of the most benign concepts of a small health item for your character to survive, only to lead to the bad ending because of drug induced psychosis!

Not looking forward to it?

Yeah, I agree; I really liked Shattered Memories a well. Especially like the (good) ending.

Silent Hill 2 makes you look at your wife's stupid photo all the time in order to get a half decent ending! I mean, how can you even guess that or begin to realize that?

I realized there has to be something up with them cause at some point there was suddenly lying quite a few on the floor (compared to here and there).

actually i'm sorta okay with it in the sense that i get to be a bit of a generalist, and there are already other supervisors that will help in all aspects, so it makes the experience a tad less intense

all the secret triggers in silent hill 2 are tied to the mental state of james in the game, and by looking at your wifes photo so much is him looking back at her with a longing love and pain, which offers a small solace to him as he traverses through hell; whereas if he doesn't look at the picture, it assumes that while you are looking for her, it reflects at how he was more selfish, or saw her more as a means to an end, which is much more of a damning statement of his actions. and by having it tied to something that isn't spelled out, it is more of an honest reflection of the players experience in the game, as opposed to the extrinsic goal of "if i do X thing or collect Y stuff, i will get good ending" like a completionist. it's forcing your honest reflection in front of you!

what i find so sad about them is that it was shu's honest desire to help Hinako's headaches through using them, which makes the sad ending all the more tragic because of it T_T

Well, that sounds nice! Easy times at the North Pole this year!

That all makes sense, if you were really James and would miss your wife. But you're not, you're a guy playing the game who has a picture in his inventory. You look at it once, maybe twice to see if anything has changed - that's it.

I wonder if anyone who played Silent Hill 2 has truly figured the pic out by themself (without previous knowledge); or if the makers had to instantly put that info into a game guide.

Only take pills approved by the pharma industry!

i don't want to jinx it, i imagine shenanigans will still arise

and as such, you were thinking of the utility of the photo or lackthereof, not looking at it as him longing for his wife, but only as an indication of some benefit; thus the wife only exist in your mind as a means of progress, or a means to an end. poor mary was doomed by a selfish husband that killed her because she became a burden, and with no empathy towards her by the witnesses to their story

and i'm sure somebody discovered it, but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people had to ask friends or look at playstation magazines for hints

it was the 60s! nobody knew what the hell they were prescribing! like cigarettes were considered good for you, and wives were prescribed methamphetamines to tolerate being houswives!

Like rowdy childen, or sudden bear attacks! Or someone losing their keys.

Well, I never liked Mary anyway! I like the idea that during the entire game of Silent Hill 2 the 'real' James was sitting passed out on the shitter in the bathroom stalls at the beginning of the game.

I bet most used a guide or just heard it somewhere.

That's just silly talk, now have a smoke. Fred Flintstone says they are good for you.

I'd be super scared about a bear coming by.

But didn't the ending confirm it's exactly what happened? You're back at where you started, then he starts the motor and drives straight into the lake (even though it's miles away!).

He definitely was passed out in there, just his mind was wandering around the other two layers of Silent Hill.

Yabba dabba doo!

we only got black bears around here, which are basically spicier raccoons. they get easily spooked away as long as no cubs are nearby

as i mentioned last time, the silent hill series is much more formalist and symbolic in nature, so the exact nature of events is less relevant than the emotional throughline. to me, the experience the story of silent hill 2 is James finally accepting the nature of mary's death by his hands, and depending on your actions in the game, his decisions from that point. in that ending, he takes his life, in part of the emptiness he feels without mary, as well as the need to atone for his sin. this is one of a few different endings

yabba dabba do indeed!

Well, I would still run for the hills, pushing some little kids into the way of the bear.

Oh yeah, I agree with James having that experience. But since there are three layers of Silent Hill due to its Indian mythology origin thing, the real James had to be somewhere while his mind experienced all that. He was on the loo! Facts!

The moose are super big!

James got a letter by his dead wife so he returned to Silent Hill. There he went into the public loo, and because he was so exhausted and confused he fell asleep... But his mind began to wander... [game starts and his soul is laid bare in his dream]. He wakes back up again and commits suicide. There, you cannot counter that!

today was a bit of a rollercoaster, but i'm happy to say it didn't end badly all things considered

as i mentioned last night, a temporary crown popped out. and so my paranoid ass avoided eating anything all day until my appointment

i then got a notice in the mail from my dad's phone company with a bill for like $600 out of nowhere! and i rightfully was like "what the fuck is this?" and i called customer service, which sent me to a local store, which then sent me to a corporate store, where they said i had 1 of 2 options; i could either pay it, or i can just leave it be since my father has passed, the debt couldn't be drawn from anywhere. Still they told me to contact my lawyer, which i did, and they said "don't pay it. If collections puts something up, we'll take care of it"

and now that i was more or less relieved of that stress. i went to my dentist appointment, where they popped that crown back in, and i was right as rain!

all while in the middle of a snow storm :P

get shpongled anyways!

Yeah. So now we have Star Fox 64, which was already kind of a remake of Star Fox SNES, and we have Star Fox 64 3D, which is a remaster of 64, and Star Fox Zero which is to 64 what 64 was to the SNES one, and then we have the new Star Fox that's coming out which is also a reimagining of gosh darn Star Fox 64 from thirty years ago because the wider fanbase rejected Star Fox Assault twenty years ago (I was like five and I thought it was great) and Nintendo subsequently decided they're getting the Last of Us treatment forever as a form of vengeance.

...and while I'm very much going to whine about it I'm still going to buy it because the franchise has been dormant for ten years and I've been denied food for so long that I really don't care that much that today's special is Lylat Wars leftovers again.

On one hand... I'll put it this way: Star Fox character designs tend towards yaoi and these tend more towards bara, y'know? I can't say they're really my thing. They're a bit offputting to me.

But at the same time, character designs aren't what I look for in Star Fox outside of Krystal, y'know? I saw a friend play the demo and it looked like it played well, so chances are I'll try it out at some point. It's an oh-boy-two-cakes type of situation for me.

>>1206895
>hugs

History's been really kind to Star Fox Assault. It's not perfect, but it was a post-64 Star Fox game that put its heart into meaningfully evolving the series and didn't fall flat on its face in doing so, and that makes it unique.

Also oh my god the multiplayer is fantastic. They developed Assault as a LAN shooter first and foremost and thought of the story and campaign after, and by god if it hadn't dropped just as online console gaming was becoming trendy it would've been the next Goldeneye 64 as far as that went. Shit's fantastic.

I am 27 years old and I joined Ponychan 15 years ago on the 30rd of last month. I feel like an entire skeleton.

>>1206901
That's definitely the selling point for me. Star Fox has fantastic characters that rarely get the chances they need to shine, and I'm hoping this game can provide that. I can sorta take or leave playing 64 again because I mean, Lylat Wars and my N64 are like two feet to my left right now, my TV is old enough to have RCA ports, I can just play that.

Also, y'know, if it sells well enough we might not have to wait another nine years for the next Star Fox game and oh my god please I'm starving here.

Well, as I said, if I made a Silent Hill game set in Wales, I would call the town "Tawelfryn" which roughly translate to "quiet hill".

Ebisugaoka roughly translates to:
Ebisu = God of fishing and fortune
Gaoka = Hill
Ebisugaoka = Hill of the God of Fortune

But it could also be a play on words such as "ebisugawa", which means vigilance or precaution, something you usually need to be quiet for.

It's a 2D Side scrolling Soulslike, in the sense that you lose your experience if you die, you can regain them if you kill the enemy that killed you, and that save spots respawn enemies. I dunno if combat works like that in Hollow Knight , never played.

It's also very based on using parries and doges to get in some hits, so your timing gotta be excellent. Mine just isn't.

It DOES have a "story mode" where you can alter difficulty to your liking, but I started a normal game cause I do wanna learn - I am just reminded that I am terrible at everything cause I can barely get anywhere.

Not that I will. I'm tired of making promises to myself I bother not to keep.

But there are elements from both Resident Evil and The House of the Dead that I like that I would like to put them together and make my own content from it.

One idea I had was a zombie survival game set in the late-1800s. Instead of sci-fi or magic, a mad scientist who uses alchemy over science to turn local villagers into zombies.

Plus, I say alchemy, while there can still be some magic involved, such as rituals involving plants and such.

Usual generic zombie games are set in modern times and involve some secret laboratory outbreak or the likes. I figure to mix it up a bit by changing the time period.

Even Resident Evil 4 and 8 implies that the outbreak was aided with more primitive and archaic laboratories than the science provided by Umbrella.

But I'm just spitballin'. If I ever get the Steam Frame, I might give Unity another go given I have this VR "belt" gameplay in mind... but we'll see.

I'm still waiting for my email for my Steam Controller. Given the steps VALVe put in to prevent scalpers, I hope I can purchase it with my Steam Funds.

The gadget I used was a pro action replay 2. I remember this one time when I shwoed the PAR2 on one of my friend's games and he thought I broke his game like some kind of hacker and quickly turned it off and got super mad. I had to show him that I hadn't broken his game to calm him down.

It's a lot easier to play PAL games on NTSC consoles than the other way around, from what I understand. NTSC cartridges physically don't fit in PAL consoles' cartridge slot, so you have to physically modify the console to get them to fit.

Honestly I'm sorta surprised Action Replay let you play region-locked games like that. Very cool, though.

yup! we just chatted about stuff, i played a game, and we had a good time all together!

i actually have never had a white russian, so given that i'm a big lebowski fan, i decided to rectify it by purchasing some kahlua, vodka, and heavy cream and trying. and i gotta say i really enjoyed it! it's like a latte almost, and not harsh in the slightest ^_^

Nice! What did you play?

The most important question is of course, what did you do with the heavy cream? Did you whip it up, or not? Did you float it on top of the vodka/kahlua; or did you stir in it?

None yet, I think it's my knees that will get broken.

played some genshin and zzz mostly, and talked about the new in game event that was happening! it centers around creating short form films using different locals and characters, although it's rather braindead simple to do :P

i did a very light stir, where there was some mild mixing, but the layers were still visible (that's what the site i looked at me told me to do) and i enjoyed the outcome

you should strenghten your knees with horse stances!

Well, could still be fun!

I always mix the vodka and khalua, but then float the cream on top. Gives me a nice white beard afterwards.

You sure that strengthens them and doesn't break them?

alright santa! i don't have a beard, but i do like the milk mustache vibe  ^_^

i guarantee it! it's the most fundamental thing to learn in kung fu, and most martial arts have similar excersises! most peoples knees are weak because of their increased sedintary lifestyle, and need to be strengthened!

At my weekly D&D game, we're 6 players and a DM. Four of us are in our 30ies and have known eachother a while and played together before.

Two of the players are young, like 12-14 ish and new to the game. So naturally, for the weeks we've played, they've been a little shy about voicing ideas, joining in on our joking around, trying things, etc. Makes total sense. No one is on their case about this and we do our best to encourage them. Thankfully, they do keep coming back. So clearly they are enjoying themselves to some degree.

Today, we were in a big boss battle. One of these kids, a Ranger, has two attacks thst turn.

He fires his bow, but rolls a Nat 1. The GM rules that this means his bow snaps at a critical moment.

He hesitates, then states he wanrs to try and throw his two daggers at the bad guy. Fine idea in a pinch.

GM reminds him he only has one attack yet, so he'll only let him throw one.

Beat.

Kid looks up with the smuggest grin responds "hey now - I've got two arms."

He didn't get his extra attack. But he DID get the whole table laughing with what he clearly intended as a quick moment of shit talk.

Y'all, I think I just experienced fatherly pride.

It's called "Scopophobia" because you start off trapped in a room where the walls are covered in glory spy holes. You can barely see dark figures outside the room, but that's about it.

There is means to escape, but Garry's Mod doesn't really have a puzzle-like inventory system to work with.

Just woken up from a dream that inspired me with a story.

The Daughter of Frankenstein.

It's about a woman named Victoria Frankenstein who was a master surgeon. Maybe her husband is an alchemist named Henry.

They had twins. Mary and Shelly. But a terrible accident made them lose both their daughters.

Refusing to lose their daughters, they try "rebuilding" them, but given both brains and bodies were severely damaged, they decided to salvage the functional organs and parts and put them together.

The awakened daughter suffers from a severe personality disorder where they feel like the two sisters in one body.

Unlike the original Frankenstein story where the creator rejects the creation, Victoria does her best to help her daughter/s adjust in their new body.

That's all I thought of so far. I did consider making my own shared classic monster-verse of sorts like what Universal Pictures did.

Well, what if the mother becomes obsessive of the well-being of her daughter to the point it's somewhat monstrous?

An idea my mother suggested is the daughter requires some sort of life-essence or fresh parts, thus the parents keep on killing.

I myself think the father, who could be an alchemist to begin with, ends up as a mad scientist. If he could bring back his daughter, what are the limits of his skills?

Right now, I'm still fleshing out my Barbarian story.

Thing is, I can't animate, nor do I really have the fortitude to make a comic.

But, I was thinking I could probably make animations with minimalistic animated style inspired by Sonic and the Black Knight cutscenes.

And given I don't have a full cast of voice actors to back me up, I'm thinking of using 15.dev or Deepponies to voice various characters.

But I'm still fleshing out a story.

I kinda like the idea/hope that, even though I imagine the use of AI voices will have some criticism, it would still be regarded as a "pilot" project that a studio maybe interested to pick up on it.

well it's mostly gonna be assets for the twitch/youtube live streams stuff, cause while i like what i have, it is rather limited. so i'm hoping to flesh it out!

the world of Gameoverse is filled with different game universes of various different types! however whenever a game reaches the "win condition" where the good guy beats the bad guy, the world basically tears itself apart

Kit, the cat character i'm posting as, is from one of those worlds, where she tries to beat her big bad guy, alnognside with her sidekick Kaboodle. Her universe is sorta blend of Banjo Kazooie (Kit 'n' Kaboodle), Rachet and Clank, and Megaman.

however we see in the pilot that she is able to adapt to her new life after her own world is destroyed, but not without intense trauma, and they recruit Gobbles, a learnosaurus in the same vein as Put Put or Freddie Fish with their point n' click adventures, as well as a dolphin who is a mario-esque character

it's really fuckin good!

This is probably another topic for Epic.

So I hear that Metal Sonic is part of the upcoming Sonic movie.

From everything that I've seen so far, metal Sonic has seen multiple iteration and he's always supposed to be this sort of classic Terminator style machine threat that shows up as a boss, gets destroyed and then a new version is created by Eggman for the next encounter.

But I also understand that Metal Sonic is supposed to be more complex than just a robotoc antagonist. Like as far as I understand Eggman built him not only with the powers of Sonic, but also with the mind and personality of Sonic, which always seems to get lost whenever I see him appear with the almost universal scowl.
Like doesn't he ever get a bit tragedy built in his character? A longing to connect with others that Sonic gets to experience? (Or maye he represents something dark in Sonic)
I also wonder, given that almost every instance ends with him being turned in scrap, is there some immortality of programming there? Does Metal Sonic ever grow while his physical body gets destroyed over and over again? Or is he really just a new iteration every time?

>>1207232
While the IDW Sonic comics are floundering, Metal Sonic's character has been expanded a bit more around it. Such as the Neo Metal Sonic Saga and a brief moment during the Metal Virus Saga. While he is indeed more complex, Dr. Eggman has reprogrammed him time and again whenever he becomes to rebellious.

In a way, he is a rather layered, tragic character. Some fans even speculate he could be a roboticized version of Sonic from an alt Little Planet timeline. But Sonic Team writers rarely ever address it and treat Metal Sonic as just a silent rival.

Given the ending of Sonic's third film shows multiple Metal Sonic's, I have a feeling it would be the same case given the Metal Sonic's look mass produced.
I have some guesses on what Sonic 4 will be about... but my Sonic film predictions have always been terrible.

The last bit of Sonic media I consumed has been Sonic Prime.
Which brought forth a sleeker Metal Sonic design, that was able to emote a lot.

This actually portrayed Metal Sonic as a lot more quippy, buit also always struck me as more of a kind of psychopath.

In the end though, there's a biot of cloning of metal opponents and then you get a lot of wanton destruction justified because "Hey, they're just robots, not actual characters."
I guess that's where I feel like it's harder to follow the tragedy of it all.

Can you make a Metal Sonic that has feels and is a tragedy on its own, if every time it just becomes a boss level threat that is up to be scrapped?

And I get that bit. Eggman built Metal Sonic to match and surpass Sonic's skills.
And it is not that Eggman is just purely hyping him as such, it's a sentiment built within Metal Sonic too. So eventually t's Metal Sonic himself who believes that.
Then again, that was basically Knuckles and then later especially Shadow. But they got their sense of redemption, since they're not robots fated to be scrapped.

But we can't have silliness, especially with British culture.
Next, we will be coming up with silly ideas like mandatory Digital IDs that need to be provided for British citizens, or restricting British internet users content from NSFW to social websites without providing ID or face recognition, just to remove privacy from British internet citizens.

so since my dad's passing, the one thing that i've been hyperfocused on is the mortgage to the house. in my mind, i need to assume it so i can make sure i can do what i need to do, as well as give me the freedom to sell the house down the line.

well part of that is this big ass bundle of papers that had a borrowers signature, assumption thing, a notorized thingie, and documents about my income, assetts, etc.

well for soem fuckin reason, it never made it to the facility! it went missing! and that really pissed me off, cause some of that shit cost me real life money, and i really want to get this mortgage so i can do what i need to do witht he house

however!

in my time looking around, i discovered that apparently there is a federal law that prohibits mortgage companies from screwing you over. you don't have to assume it, so long as you are the executor (which i am) and i make the payments (which i do) i can just keep doing that as long as i want with no ramifications. I then decided to call the very bank the mortgage is under, and they confirmed all of that! i even asked them if can sell the house down the line, and they said "as long as the mortgage gets paid off with it, then it's all good"

so in all this fuckin time, for the last 2 months of trying to get this thing, the real move was to not do anything, not assume the loan, and just pay it off and go on with my life! and because my package thing got lost in the mail, they don't have any real proof i was trying to assume it at all, so i can just say "oh well, i'll still pay the mortgage, but that's that i suppose" and everything is perfectly fine!

i literally had to do nothing, and i win

yup! we've hit a bit of a monsoon season, and it's cold enough where i am to snow! we need it, so i grit my teeth and bear it. still, i'd love to have a 90 degree day T_T

you stuck with your guns? just shoot your way out!

theoretically no, so long as i am the rightful heir and on the deed to the house. like if you think about it, say i was living by myself in a different place when my father passed, and i'm trying to manage the estate, would it make sense to have me pay for both an apartment/other house alongside the house under the mortgage? there are avenues to sell the property and reclaim assettes.

and push comes to shove, say i do need to pay it first, i technically have the money to do that already, so i'd just rip the bandaid off to do that, cause that money would come back to me anyways

i'll mail ya some snow in a letter!

yup! my plan is to take 100k of what i got from the house and use that to plant myself in burbank to start a new life. then i put the rest of it into a HYA and see if i can generate wealth in the background! according to my financial guy, i could double it in 10 years, which would be a great fallback in case things don't really pan out!

HE DID THE THING!

Given the concept has existed for decades, there have been various takes on what the H-Dial is and actually does. In some stories, it genuinely "plucks" heroes away from wherever they are across realities and turns the user of the DIal into them for a bit, merging their minds and personalities. So yes, there was an instance where a user of the Dial became Plastic Man, and another rather famous instance where the user of the Dial briefly turned into The Flash.

In-story, yes. Sometimes. Canon is all over the place like usual with superhero comics.

Eh, a bit bummed.

I was literally one hour away from unlocking the first bit of monetization oN Eshthetics when I uploaded that video... but then the counter rolled back (you need a set amount of view hours within 365 days) a bit. And on top of that, the video is plateuing in views pretty hard right now. So it feels a bit like being slapped in the face for being excited.

But it's fine. I'll catch back up.

Poopy weather and the footage I recorded yesterday not being that great outside of my control didn't help.

1000 subs and 3000 view hours within 365 days to unlock the first tier, which is where you get Channel Memberships and the ability to tag Merch Shops.

An additional 1000 hours in 365 days is required to unlock the ability to run ads.

And jsut to be clear, it's not like I was imagining that I'd instantly get a bunch of people signing up for Channel memberships or anything, but I am kind of planning to do a video where I ask people which of the characters I've created n the channel they MIGHT like to see as Merch, and then make the most popular choices.

More as a "I want the option to at least be there" thing, and to include the audience.

For example, these three second hand Powers Trade Paperbacks. Powers is essentially "What if the X-files was about Superheroes rather than aliens and monsters", in a slightly more rough Bruce Timm inspired art style. Good shit.

This is a simple three issue short story written by Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy. Ancient priest of a Worm God is revived in a museum, team od paranormal investigators fight him. Fun stuff. Almost a bit old-school Belgian in its art style.

"She-Wolf" is an indie comic released by the same publisher I've done stories for before. A woman is forcibly turned into a werewolf by a cult, but fights back. This is a full trade made after the first "pilot" issue I read a whole back. This ought to be exciting.

I got a lot of superhero stuff, a very sizable chunk of all released Usagi Yojimbo stuff, a good chunk of IDW TMNT (and two trades of the original Mirage run), some Adventure Time comics, Hack/Slash, some choice graphic novels, some from when I was a kid, and of course a decent little chunk of manga, too. So I got plenty.
