And a good morning to you!

 No.1193612

Today was a productive day. I finished my 17 hour drive this morning. took care of my stepbrothers dogs all day, brought him his work bag which he forgot when he left for work, picked up dinner for everyone, saved many hundreds of tiny baby fish from the pond overflow, saved a turtle from the pool, and watched the Thunder beat the Pacers.  I might go fishing in the ditch to see what else I can catch. But right now I'm just chilling at the pool.

Sounds like a productive day indeed! Where did you put the fish and the turtle?

I'll start work in a bit. Might miss the meeting too, cause I'll have a company over who will install window shutters.

>>1193613 most of the fish ended up in the front pond. About a third of the fish ended up in the back two ponds. That's also where I put the turtle.
Are those the fancy outdoor window shutters? Any excuse to miss a meeting! Nicely done

I run am X files podcast with a friend. And recently, David Duchovny  (Mulder) had Chris Carter (Show cretaor) on his own podcast Fail Better, discussing their time on the show and some of their falling out.

In theory, we Could have done this via Zoom,, but we often use his workplaces equipment and he has two toddlers in the home. Plus we were offered to see a new horror movie by a friend who runs a theater today, which wr may record a quick episode of for our spinoff thing called "Blood Bank"

Contractual stuff. Disagreements on set. The natural stuff that tends to happen when you work closely together for eight years, especially on a show that becomes a global phenomenon as explosively as this did.

For clarification, they have been on good terms for a long, long time since, but Duhcovnys podcast is all About talking about the times you feel you "failed", so they sort of reminisce and talk about it in more detail than they have om record before.

We run it as a team. He's the X-files superfan who's seen it several times before and I'm the "newcomer" (if you can call it that now that we've reached Season 8).

So whenever interview opportunities present themselves, he covers those since otherwise I'd be getting spoilers, and since his work has him meeting a lot of interesting potential guests and I have a much more flexible lifestyle, he's usually the one planning our recording sessions and inviting folks.

However, I'm the one doing all the editing, I make almost every bit of video content we upload (which include quick, comedic bits from our episodes) and when we go through an episode, he's the one covering all the behind-the-scenes trivia while I'm the one looking up and explaining any pop culture / history / mythical references characters make. Stuff like checking if Mulders assessment of certain myths are accurate, explaining references to TV Shows that migjt be famous in America but aren't here, etc.

So yeah, definitely a team.

pony adventure/friendship story that takes place around the latter part of Season 2. i didn't intend for it to be too cloppy, but then i ended up adding an extra chapter today that was kinda cloppy, adding an extra dimension to the rest of the story -- now not sure if i should make two versions or not. i tried to make the characters act and say things like they would in a tv episode or in the mlp movie

Is the concrete not good for her leg?

I've played through Suikoden 2 several times before; IMO one of the best JRPGs there are.

I'm done with Deltarune for now, yes. But I guess my friend wants to play it too, so we'll tackle it after Suikoden.

I don't think that there'll be a follow up honestly. Beside, there's still three chapters to go, with some luck Deltarune will be done by 2030.

Sorry, I thought about a theater now, not a 'cinema'. But I don't go more than every two months at best.

Ah, The Shining! It's good, still similar to the movie, but I'm not even 20 % in yet.

Yes, we played through both together. He likes the fun characters.

Well, Deltarune was the game he wanted to make, supposedly based on a dream he once had. And Undertale was a test to see if he could actually make a game. So, I'd say once his dream project is done, that's it - and he'll focus on making music, which is what he actually does.

I figured there could be opposite composite to everything.
What cause peppers to be so spicy is a chemical compound called capsaicin.
What causes mint to be so chill is a chemical compound called menthol.

If emissions consist of chemical compunds are made of chemicals that cause harm to the atmosphere, wouldn't there be counter-chemical compounds?

No no, I get that. I am not dissing the system.

I just find it amusing because that is something that would have never happened int he group I was just in. The very ruleset is built around "justify the success you just rolled, or tell me HOW you fail when the roll fails".

Even if you use bonus points to re-roll an action, you still have to specifically describe HOW you put in the extra effort.

It lead to a lot of interesting high-stakes situations.

>>1194370  Hold up...  the evil plot relied on the stolen chain being recovered from the bad guys and the recovered chain being given back to the Duke in order to kill the Duke.  What was the backup plan if the chain wasn't recovered?  or recovered by a faction that doesn't support the Duke?  Why wouldn't they just use the chain themselves?  Why do they care about killing the Duke in the first place?  Aren't they a horde of zombie necromancers or something above the petty politics of man?

The villains knew that the good guys would come to get the chain back. The "real" Duke absolutely needs it caue the barons below him were already not fully accepting him - some not at all - due to the lack of that symbol.

They knew that the "real" duke had no plan B, he absolutely needed that chain. And they made the security lax enough so the good guys would get it - but not lax enough so they would realize something is up.

The chain has a (believed) myth that it would choke an imposter to death. So the bad guys' plan was that the "real" duke wears the chain and dies, proving he wasn't the real deal in the first place.

Then the "false" duke could recover it, wear it, and prove without doubt that he's been the chosen one all along.

There's always politics involved too. The evil demi-god wizard in charge tempts his followers with their desires. And he would allow the false duke to rule the country in his stead.

The Hero keyword is used purely to counter or negate Troublemaker cards with the Villain keyword. Given, I acknowledge how powerful that be, which is why it has a cooldown after use.

But I noticed Enterplay has rights to other franchises such as G.I. Joe, Transformers, Zelda, Mario and a few other franchises.

Makes me wonder why they haven't reused their gameplay module for these licences as well... maybe the IP owners didn't give permission?

Imagine an official Transformers or G.I. Joe collectible card game, but the gameplay is similar enough that you can mix your My Little Pony cards with them and have a crossover deck!

We do have the RPGs, at least.  And that company does make a Transformers card game, so maybe they'll expand that to include other franchises as well, someday.

Transformers: TCG was made by Wizards of the Coasts while MLP:CCG is made by Enterplay. Looking at the cards, I don't think they would be compatible with one another.
MLP:CCG was released in 2013 while Tf:TCG was released in 2018. Kind of curious why Hasbro turned to another card manufacturer for it.

As for the TTRPGs... What's interesting is My Little Pony has two, very different TTRPGs.

The one me and Clarity are familiar with, "Tails of Equestria", was made by RiverHorse.

"My Little Pony: Roleplaying Game" is a different game by Renegade Game Studios. It appears more advance than Tails of Equestria.

But I also believe Renegade also re-use their RP module (Essence20 Roleplaying System) with other TTRPGs they made such as G.I. Joe, Power Rangers and Transformers, which means it could be possible to play crossover sessions.

Yeah, I was talking about the Renegade stuff in both cases, because they're the most recent examples.  I guess technically MtG has both Transformers and MLP cards now, though both are pretty limited.  It's not completely out of the question that one or both might get larger releases now that they're committing to Universes Beyond, though.

As for play, eh, don't sweat it. If you get this up and running, and you get some folks to show up, make it clear that you are new to this but just want it to be a thing.

Contrary to popular belief and hollywood stereotypes, most TTRPG players are very happy to explain their hobby to you and help you understand the rules of any given game, at least if you are actually playing in person rather than online where the shitheads no one wants at their table sometimes hang out.  Even then, rules often get fudged a bit if it makes more sense to do so, or if someone just plain forgot a rule in the moment. It'll just be like "Oops. Alright, let's remember that rule from now on."

Read the rulebooks, understand them as well as you can, do your best. It's genuinely all anyone worth your time and effort asks as long as you're upfront about it.

He's into Warhammer 3K in which I mostly just nod politely. He knows my name and I only recently commited his name to my memory, but we don't hang out or anything outside of the Chinese.

2. Will ask the librarian again if she wants a TTRPG club hosted at the library. However, I will stand my ground that I don't own the modules, don't know how to play and not interested in leading it.

3. If they want me to make posters for it, I'll be glad to. I like the creative side of TTRPGs, it's just learning the rules, how to play, stat sheets that have me daunted.

And while I know very well D&d and TTRPGs are for all ages, with some in their 30s-50s playing it, the fact I never joined any D&D clubs in my school years makes me feel too old for it.

I think I have in my high school years, but I can't really recall.

But I can draw. Made this picture for a friend once. Sure, I can't draw as fine as most promotional fantasy artwork, but I doubt the Librarian will expect a masterpiece out of it,

Making, say, three heroes vs a dragon I can do.

As for the rest of the poster such as date and information, well if I make the poster on PhotoShop I can add such details later.

I think it's "normal" for most artists to feel... not as good as the kind of art they want to be. That it may either push us to improve and do better, or be satisfied with what you have.

But I like to think that even if my style is not as good as I want it to be, I imagine there are those out there who still like my style.

After all, I find pictures that are not as detailed or more cartoony or more sketchy than "quality art", but I still like those pictures for how expressive they are. So I can have confidence in that.

 No.1194887

>>1194886
It's all relative.

It's unfortunate there aren't many better suited words when what folks really mean by "quality" or "fine" art tends to be "more realistically rendered or detailed". Any style has its place depending on what you do.

I believe it all comes down to the eye of the beholder... and I don't mean the D&D monster.

I wonder if there are artists who make absolutely brilliant works of art... then look at the artists they like and feel "I'm just not good enough".

I get that feeling often. I do enjoy using PhotoShop, but it's why I haven't done much with my devART account in recent years.

Other than that, I am currently working on a Tabletop Simulator project and I don't want to have too many projects.
