So I had a thread on /pony/ that has seemingly been deleted for no reason. It does not appear to have been "moved" as >>>/pony/1063225 claims. It just appears to have been obliterated with no explanation or warning. What's going on?

 No.6887

>>6886
I also don't like the implication that I'm trying to "bring drama" by asking my thread was outright deleted with no statement from the staff what rules were violated or why it was being destroyed when people were talking and interacting in the thread already.

 No.6888

The thread was political. It was posted shortly after the election results, made allusion to the results, and cheekily claimed to have nothing to do with politics. If the thread was posted without the line regarding politics, it would've been fine. If you want to make a generic celebration thread, you are perfectly allowed. Try it without any lines sarcastically referencing politics, and I'm sure it will be fine

Your threads do not exist independent of the context of your post history and political leanings

The thread was locked and moved to /rock/

 No.6889

>>6888
Why was this not stated in the thread? The thread wasn't locked and no reason was given, it was just taken down. This doesn't seem very transparent or how threads are normally treated.

Also, I'm not sure what "post history" you're talking about when political posts have not been allowed on /pony/ for a few years now. That should have no bearing on posts made on /pony.

 No.6890

>>6889
You've made several political posts and allusions to politics on /pony/ even with the political ban. Your political views are a well-known quantity, and it was transparently obvious to thread-goers that your celebration thread was about the election, even independent of that. You're not in trouble, but skirting the rules by sarcastically defying the true political subject of a thread is just the same as a political thread

What ARE my political views, if you're so certain of that?

Also, why is it not allowed for people to celebrate things that impact their lives? Would you act this way towards the denizens of another country for their elected leaders? Or is it just when it pertains to you-know-who.

Also, once a new President takes office, is discussing the old occupant now allowed, since he is no longer a political figure?

Ponyville has rules and it's not the place for everything and everyone to get what they need. Like it or not, no, discussing politics on /pony/ isn't alright

If you want to discuss politicans, their behaviors, and elections, this probably isn't the best site for that

But if you insist, then wording the OP in an intellectually coherent and civilized debate format on /townhall/ is your best best

 No.6893

>>6892
That didn't answer any of my questions.

I asked

What do you think my political views are?

Why is discussing issues that affect the users of the site not allowed?

and would it be allowed to discuss a former president when they leave office because they are no longer a political figure?

 No.6894

>>6893
>Why is discussing issues that affect the users of the site not allowed?

Ponyville has rules and it's not the place for everything and everyone to get what they need. Like it or not, no, discussing politics on /pony/ isn't alright

>would it be allowed to discuss a former president when they leave office because they are no longer a political figure?

If you want to discuss politicans, their behaviors, and elections, this probably isn't the best site for that. Nearly everyone who has been involved in politics, especially former presidents, is still a prominent political figure

>What do you think my political views are?

You were clearly invested in the president losing the election and were not fond of him, which is the only relevant information to the thread you posted

You're free to disagree with the semantics of what's said here, but that is how things are, and it's likely they'll stay that way, so it's better to work within the rules

Well saying it isn't alright does not answer WHY it's not alright. This website prides itself on being inclusive. For LGBT people and people from all walks of life. Why then, are we going out of our way to not be able to celebrate a victory for inclusivity and the rights of marginalized people? This makes no sense to me, if the stated goal of the site is to be inviting to those kinds of people.

I do not wish to discuss politicians or elections. I wish to celebrate with my friends that the things this site claims to hold with regard, have won out over bigotry and division. That SHOULD be allowed, if the site truly holds those things in the regard it claims. No one mentioned anything about elections or politicians in that thread.

 No.6897

>>6895
You can say it should be allowed if you like, but it's not. I appreciate that you're passionate about this, but you're not allowed to discuss politics or have political threads on /pony/

Whether the thread is political is not up for debate, and it's transparently obvious that the thread is in reference to the election. The last post in the thread before its move is a crude joke about a politican from someone who perfectly understood the OP's implications

The reason why political threads are not allowed is because of the toxicity, constant abusive bullying behavior, and general spite that comes with political discourse. It hurts people and accomplishes little

You are free to disagree, but that is how the site is, and a difference of ideals is expected. You are allowed to disagree, but your disagreements have been heard, acknowledged, and the no-politics rule is still active

I have to agree on this.  I suggest that SOP be changed to leave an indication of when a thread is moved or deleted (except for threads created by spambots and such things).

That is a reasonable criticism and you're right.

Why did it require a second vote to be reasonable?

And what are Manleys views?  Since you raised the issue.

Edit:  ok i found the thread
https://ponyville.us/rock/res/1377.html#q1377

I really intended just to be a knucklehead but upon review i actually object.  Manley is owed an apology for his thread being axed.

No matter how happy anyone is that their candidate won and the other lost, these threads are about a political victory. There are rules, and they exist to prevent things which would certainly occur if the threads were not locked

Fighting, insults, toxic and abusive behavior

Your reaction to your thread being removed is reason enough to believe you would not be entirely reasonable if someone with an opposing viewpoint were to present themselves

/pony/ is not the place to righteously assert that your moral-political view of the world is the correct one

>/pony/ is not the place to righteously assert that your moral-political view of the world is the correct one

While i kinda did do that on /canterlot, for which i can be properly sanctioned, i dont think Manley did in his thread on /pony.

Just because i cant control myself doesnt mean others cant and i felt Manleys thread was pretty ok and no one acted out before it was cancelled.

I just cant give up the belief that we can all get along.  Even if i cant live up to that.  I cant be wrong about that.  Cant.  You guys are fucking better.

People have heard more than enuf of what i have to say.  Im just becoming redundant.  Hope this works out.  We should not have to let the new free world leader be ab elephant in the room just to get along.  We are not enemies.

>>6902  Actually, I was in the process of shredding Fox's arguments when the topic was locked.  The only thing I was disappointed by, was my inability to respond.  Thank you; come again.
