If Critical Hit was still around, I would simply ask him if I can GM his ToE:RP, but I haven't seen him in years.
The idea for the campaign for his RP I want to do, but I figure if we're starting from ToE scratch we'll have to build up a few adventures towards it.

>>1160673>>1160675>>1160677>>1160679Histoire is a character from the Neptunia series of anime-girl-console-wars JRPGs which debuted on the PS3.
So are Neptune and Nepgear, who are based on the Sega Neptune (which never released) and the Game Gear respectively. They both have D-pads in their hair, but Neptune has two D-pads and short hair and Nepgear has one D-pad and long hair.
Neptunia figured prominently in the split between Story and Ark way back when. A lot of the later Ark posters were annoyed by the constant talk about Neptunia at the time.
Also there's no game on the PC Engine called Neptunia as far as I can tell. Clarity is probably thinking of Neutopia, which is a Zelda-like on the console with a very similar name.

Plus, there is the matter of whenever us (you, me, Taiga and maybe ⛵ if you want in) will want some level ups, y'know to be some older and experienced already. The guide I found has a "homebrew" on making characters that start pass Lvl1. I don't know if Critical had any IRL friends to play with, but he purchased the actual ToE game as well as the adventure books. And I don't have the same kind of friend-groups you do... let alone much IRL friends at all.
So I don't really see the point in me buying a multiplayer boardgame if it's just me.
That's why I outsourced the instructions on how to play by finding this website:
https://i.4pcdn.org/tg/1507416249335.pdfThe site just straight-up tells me how the game is played than provide any adventures.

>>1160790Well... it is and it isn't.
I mean... it's a spin-off and in a parallel universe where time may not be consistent and the only tie to continuity is Twilight Sparkle and the portal to Equestria.
I mean, in Rainbow Rocks, the Dazzlings appear to be roughly the same age as most of the girls. Yet the Dazzlings were originally the sirens that Starswirl the Bearded banished them a thousand years a go to the EqG world.
This means that the Dazzling have wondered the EqG Earth or stayed in the lands of EqG Canterlot for over a thousand years, or Starswirls portal was also a time portal to a thousand years later.
Saying that EqG world only consist of Canterlot city is one thing with boundaries beyond Camp Everfree, but if you're right I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same with "time" as well, with the Equestria Girls doomed to remain in whatever grade they're in, unable to age and grow into adults as the same year goes on and on with one school event after another.

Step-mom having x-rays tomorrow, likely hairline fracture of her femur, so not as bad as I'd initially been told.
Also my dad wasn't fully occluded, so it wasn't a full blown heart attack. A stent was put in. He's in the hospital but should be going home tomorrow.
My step-dad is still having surgery tomorrow. I'll be helping him out the day after.

I know that the XBox One is still being produced. I don't know if XBox X/S games can be played on XBox One or not. I don't even know the difference between X and S or why it was released that way.

Ha$bro struck gold with G4 thanks to Lauren Faust, but for G4.5 and G5 just went with something more watered down and easier to market.
I mean, the more seasons of Make Your Mark, the harder I regard it canon to FiM despite its lore doing all i's can to be based on FiM.

>>1161211Yeah, but past series of MLP, its target audience has always been for "little girls" and the animated series around them is written for what show writers thought "little girls" liked at the time and to keep it safe for their "sensibilities".
I mean, granted MLPnF, while still marketed for "little girls", had decent story arcs, it was a show still regarded for "little girls" given its degree of cuteness.
It wasn't until later series where it started to dumb down a little with My Little Pony Tales, which is more of a "90s modern slice of life" cartoon and G3 where it was all cupcakes and tea parties and stuff.
The reason why G4 became immensely popular was because Lauren Faust targeted the show for families than just little girls. Ponies and friendship still being a continuing factor from the franchise, but these ponies behaving more like older teens to young adults while still being playful ponies in a fantasy world.
While A New Generation gave a solid start to G6... it still feels like the writers wanted it to be its own thing while Hasbro didn't have the confidence it can be without MLP:FiM laurels to fall back on. And it shows in Make Your Mark where lore and logic just seems to degrade over the episodes.
And I can't be the only one who thought "Secrets of Starlight" was only called that just to get G4 fans invested, despite having nothing to do with Starlight Glimmer other than an ambiguous title with her colouring.

A popular fan pairing is Chrysalis is suffering from a deep-rooted empty nest syndrome and Cozy Glow has Mummy issues. Thus, the two inadvertently surrogating a mother-child relationship.
(A head canon of mine is Cozy Glow was once a child beauty pagent whose mother put too much preassure on her to succeed without giving her the love and attention needed to be a functioning child. Cozy Glow does really want friends, but given she was regarded no more than a porceline doll to her family, she had to make her own inner-worth from scratch and use her talents of a beauty pagent to appeal to others to get what she wants.)

>>1161300Well, we don't know exactly how Starswirl and the princess manage to tame the forest in the end. It would've made sense they found a new conduit to will the forest to calm down.
If I get my head out of Epic Mount's arse and consider reasonable canonical conclusions, it could be possible that Starswirl found some means to renew what was left of the magic in the Tree of Harmony given he was one of the pillars who planted the tree to begin with. While not enough magic to restore the Elements of Harmony or the tree itself, enough for its magical will to keep Everfree Forest still and to eventually find renewal in the S8E3 episode Uprooted.
At least, that's my only conclusion.
This is why the "World Tree" idea for G5 would have been a cool concept. The Tree of HArmony could've been engorged on friendship throughout Twilight's reign and eventually grew so much it broke Equestria apart as it became a world tree.

The only way I can imagine EpicShy can work is either:
• Fanfics, or fan animations.
• Roleplays, though even I admit they become rather stale, that, and it comes down to finding the right partner.
Unless you wanna start them up again for old time sake.• I take my Epic Mount/Ponytale stories and re-adapt them to something entirely original, with characters based on MLP:FiM characters. Kinda like when Fighting is Magic became Them's Fightin' Herds to avoid a lawsuit from Ha$bro.

The one thing about non-canon shipping to me is the risk that it gets into producing a character in a non consistent way.
I mean, imagine someone shipping their character with Fluttershy, but they're heavy into guns.
And then they tak about how their character totally learns Fluttershy to overcome her apprehension to guns and even regularly take her out to the woods for hunting.
And it's like
yeah, whatever you believe and all, but I won't submit to the thought that Fluttershy would ever enjoy killing animals for a sport.
Especially with the whole waifu shenanigans, it can be hard to watch a character being distilled to being just an obedient housewife.

>>1161384That is exactly why I regard myself a bit selfish when it comes to fan-ships outside my own. Yeah, I'm aware I go on and on about my OC at times a bit too much, but there's only a few other OCs who have interesting stories to me, but I find it hard to get invested in others OCs if they go willy-nilly with design and personality.
Like, I get it. There are no rules against creativity, and if you're proud of "Coldsteel, he's a Gun Pony!" then I won't bust your baubles over it. It's just I feel like the characters in MLP:FiM, or any fictional entertainment with a popular group of characters to base off, often establish its own "standards" and if those OCs don't at least try to conform to at least some of those standards then I'd just be confused and not invested in those willy-nilly OCs.
I mean, Epic Mount is somewhat of an edgy character. He lives alone in a foreboding location, and he's somewhat of a fighter which while the mane6 have resorted to combat over befriending in the past, violence is frowned upon in MLP:FiM. These are standards I chose for myself over MLP:FiM standards in order for Epic to be unique as a pony.
But the "foreboding location" I chose is the Everfree Forest because it's canon, close to Ponyville yet uncharted enough to "whose to say he's not in there?" for continuity’s sake.
The fact he's a bit edgy makes him susceptible to friendship issues that can be overcome, but he's not too edgy to be annoying, can be a rather fun pony to be around and lightens up over time. While I regret I never got round to make comics or fanfics for Epic Mount, I could imagine his character growth of being a shut-out from Ponyville but eventually grows into a more sociable, friendlier yet a bit introverted pony with less emotional baggage than he started with.
I made sure his name fits with common "naming patterns" of most other ponies (Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Derpy Hooves, Applejack sorta) and while no one would fault me for choosing pegasus or unicorn, I chose earth pony because he's more down to earth and compliments his sternness, matching yet mute colours (based on my IRL hair colour and fave hoodie). Factors I regard MLP:FiM standards I kept in mind when I first designed Epic Mount.
Oops, I went on about Epic again... sorry. My point being that when it comes to making fan characters for the cartoons and games I like, I try to keep it close to canon if I can while still being distant enough to be their own individuals.
Though given MLP:FiM has had it's time... I don't really know what to do with Epic Mount anymore.

>>1161533What would you change?
No.1161535
>>1161534Well, I was somewhat inspired from that "my brother tried to kill me" dream I mention awhile back.
If I made a G5 MLP cartoon
that was a continuation of MLP:FiM, I would go with the "World Tree" approach.
Instead of a division, some sort of new catastrophe, maybe an oncoming meteor, threatens Equestria. Believing it was their doom, Twilight Sparkle once again united all of Equestria to protect the world they lived on. While their world was destroyed, the Treehouse of Harmony saved them by growing into the World Tree and kept what was left of Equestria in its branches
Like Sunny Starscout, I would choose an Earth Pony for a leading role. But unlike her, I would make her introverted caused by a past trauma when her brother turned against her. Perhaps not to straight-up kill but in the same way Nightmare Moon turned against her sister, thus it made it difficult for her to socialise.
Not only that, but when Equestria was broken up into chunks on the branches of the World Tree ("Realms" as ponies call it), this caused a degree of segregation amongst the pony-kinds. "Earven Gardens" being the realm of the Earth Ponies, a realm that consist of fantasy Scandinavian architecture, orchards and gardens.
Eventually in desperation, my Earth Pony hero found some sort of portal or a way to travel the branches of the World Tree and found her way to the other realms where she meets a pegasus who, representing "Trust" (Loyalty+Honesty) aspiring to be a sky-racer and a unicorn who, representing "Joy" (Laughter+Generosity), wants to perform spectacular special-effects magic shows.
The three eventually find their way to the heart of the World Tree where remnants of Ponyville are found. They find Twilight's old castle and school of friendship and... find a magic book, which tells stories of how a purple unicorn made friends.
As for the "villain", well villains in mind being:
• Opal Arcana is actually "born" from the destruction of the statue of the three villains. She is a culmination of Tirek's wrath, Chrysalis power and Cozy Glow's desires.
• A mysterious figure made of pure dark magic named either Remnant or Phantom Alicorn given they take the form of a tall, imposing alicorn of shadow. I've yet to decide if they're a manifestation of Twilight's guilt over failing to protect Equestria, or if they are a manifestation of the Tree of Harmony's will to keep all of Equestria united even if it means hive-minded brainwashng.
• The feud between the protagonist and her brother lead to the brother hating her sister to the point of wanting to ruin her life or taking a nightmare identity. For a redemption, instead of a bunch of magic stones blasting the darkness out of his heart, it could simply be a matter of this villain getting over his pettiness towards his sister and being the brother she needs him to be.
At least those would be my ideas.
If I wanted to make it entirely independent and separate from MLP:FiM, I would still keep the world tree angle, just not make Ponyville or Twilight's legacy something that the new mane3 will discover. That there has always been a division amongst the ponykinds due to realms on different branches and that the mane3 want to unite the realms together in friendship.

I would also probably give more of an underlined threat the ponies will have to deal with than a traditional BBEG like Opal was. Something like a "klan" of Earth Ponies who oppose the pegasi and unicorns moving to Maretime Bay and causing trouble over it that Sunny and her friends have to deal with, all the while trying to root out the leader.
While it would be controversial, Avatar: The Legend of Korra did the same thing with the Equalist.

I mean... I understand if Sunny is attached to Maretime Bay, it's just A New Generations show a lot of open and unclaimed lands between the three pony tribes that they should do something with it.

Whenever they knew it would leak or not, or leaked it on purpose, they knew FiM fans would quickly make presumptions over whenever or not THE Starlight Glimmer will appear in Make Your Mark and thus butts in seats.
The fact it turns out to be referring to a brand-new place instead of a familiar pony just makes it feel like a cheap cop-out. But too late! You watched it! Thanks for contributing to our viewer ratings!
Also, a lot of dumb things happen in Secrets of Starlight which made me feel the script was rushed. They're hyponotised but the very snow they were walking on was the cure, the star portal thingy was in the macguffin all along. Also you can't establish a government based on ownership of said macguffin! By their own law, the purple cat thing did nothing wrong!

It's the reason why I believe the show would be better off independent of Twilight's legacy because most of the time it feels like it's trying to establish its own thing.

>>1161609I was thinking... a forest barbarian. Though not like Conan the Barbarian… well, maybe a bit like that.
Perhaps more along the line of Enkidu from the
Epic of Gilgamesh.
He grew up in a foreboding forest and of mysterious origin. The forest that somewhat has a will of its own, like the Lost Woods from Zelda games, its paths and directions may have a blatant disregard for logical navigation and only someone who grew up in the forest can travel these routes. One day, earthquakes caused seismic-sensitive monsters to stampede outside the forest towards a nearby town. They almost trampled over a group of friends out on a picnic if he had not helped them and worked together to drive the monsters back into the forest. They want to get to know him, but he mostly ignores them and concerned over the monsters. But they're persistent to know him and, as well as having a friend in common (I like to imagine Zecora being like a mother to him), he is encouraged to let his guard down around them and get to know them which in turn they learn he's not as strange as he himself thinks he is to others. Over time, developing different kind of friendships with each of them and learning that while he may feel obligated to the forest, is not bounded by it to be alone.
As for the mane6 being people, I dunno, I've yet to decide how "fantasy" the direction will be than make Fluttershy a generic druid human with wings.
I do regret I never did much with Epic Mount as I hoped during 2010-'19. I did have plans to make a comic series for him, but I guess I was too ambitious/lazy. My regret is not that I never did it for myself, but that I believe he can be an interesting fan-pony for others to get to know and never told his stories to the FiM-fandom at the time.
I feel it's too late because while Ponychan was and Ponyville.us is, the phenomenon that was
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has passed.

A story arc involved Applejack straight up lying to Fluttershy, Fluttershy wanted the group to join the scouts. Applejack opened her letter to read they've been denied and then proceed to lie to Fluttershy, making her believe they were a scout troop, all to satisfy her celebrity dolphin fetish.
I figured that, because the intro labelled the characters as Sweet, Magic, Fast, Posh, Fun and Cute, I figured these were the "Elements" exclusive to G4.5 version of Equestria. But later episodes have Applejack brags she is still the Element of Honesty, and I can't get over the first quarter of season 1 involved an elaborate lie she made towards Fluttershy.
