No.1162674
>>1162672You get another call and get to hear the consequences. This takes place on like, 1996, so you sit at a pretty old computer with a pretty rudimentary list of "hazards".
The idea is that when you guess, you send them instructions and a package with things to deal with the problem, so if you send the wrong thing, well, things go wrong.
For example, a woman calls in saying that her entire family seems to have been replaced. What she's experiencing is that she walked through something called a "Neighbors Doorway; A door frame that appears to those who spend too much time pondering how their life could have been instead of how it is, and replaces those who walk through it with an alternate universe version of themselves.
If you get it right, you don't really hear from her again, and all you can do is assume she followed your directions and found her way back. If you get it WRONG, though, she'll call back in a panic screaming about how the "strangers in her home" are trying to have her committed, and you'll hear her being taken away by authorities while rambling about "needing to find her real Family."
It's also somewhat unclear whether the company you work for is actually helpful or sneakily malicious, as some of the entries on creatures mays ay things like "it's best to administer a memory wipe to speed up the grieving process" or give advice that really just amounts to convincing the things not to attack rather than killing them or getting them to go away.

The calls do get a bit tricky though, so when you play it blindly, you never really know for sure if you did well until someone calls you back and confirms that no, you did not. And again, they throw some mud ane problems in there too that have synptoms similar to the supernatural stuff. So basically - did that guy just call about faulty ventilation, or is there an actual malicious spirit? You can't know for sure till the end of the day. And you can't see who's calling until you pick up either.
It's not like a full-on piss your pants horror game. More like a guessing game wrapped in a lot of people pulling good voice acting performances.
It's best to play it blind the first time, then play around with fails afterwards.

Time for some pessimism based on stuff I read of reddit.
This may be suitable for /townhall/ though.
There still sems to be through the pandemics and in general a "disturbing" trend of going against established knowledge in healthcare. Anti vaxx is no longer like a fringe belief, but seems to be taken over parts of the Western world and seeping into politics and as a result into the policies that govern public safety.
News has it that Florida is dealing with measles epidemics and they are going for the route of "just put all your people in a room with a measles patient. Stop vaxxing and just build your herd immunity in the natural way".
I'm starting to wonder how far off we are to people just saying that medicine is a lie and diseases are btained by those who fell out of grace of God.
Anyways, I also read the concern of a lot of teachers that the students are not able to keep up and policies are made to deliberately undermine the education system and put low quality rivate schos in place.
I have to wonder if we'll see a complete dismantlement of the education system at some point and having it replaced by the old model of rich kids can get the education as a leisure activity, the rest of the kids can go work in factories, on the fields or literally sucking c*ck of the priviledged for tablescraps.

>"disturbing" trend of going against established knowledge in healthcareWe just came through Covid a few years back, during which we learned that the established knowledge in healthcare is itself suspect and controlled by special interests. Why is anyone surprised that people are refusing to follow the experts who showed they had no idea what they were doing and imposed contradictory mandates last time around? Don't wear masks, wear masks. 2 weeks to slow the spread, indefinite lockdowns, oh never mind don't even bother isolating any more. 6 feet social distancing based on nothing. You can't go to work, unless you're in an industry that donates to the political party in charge, in which case you're "essential" and can work. or unless you have connections and get to bypass the rules. get the experimental jab, and then the booster, and then the next booster, and then the next one, but Big Pharma is not responsible if anything bad happens to you because of it. and on and on and on. i.e. If they hadn't fucked up so spectacularly before, maybe there would be more "trust in
science authority"
And that's not to say that people shouldn't get measles vaccines, but goddamn, is it any wonder why people might choose not to after all the idiocy we just went through? Trust is earned, after all.

if we ignore the third movie Ghosts are spirits that fail to enter the light. There are rules about how one becomes haunted. If you can lead them to the light, you can help them pass on. They're generally linked to a sort of 'sacred' location related to their life and/or death.

>>1162693I've long considered the scene where Ghosts are described as "those who envy the living" one of my favorite parts of that movie, and of any ghost movie really.
Years ago I was playing with the idea of a movie about a haunting seen from the Ghost's perspective. Watching people move on, sell your things, start meeting other people... All while you're still there, begging for them to look at you and see you. And then gradually, the more times they refuse to step into the light, they become more angry, and eventually retaliate violently... At which point the light no longer comes and the spirit is just left to spiral.

>>1162700>I've never seen the TV show. Is it any good?Oh. I've seen the first episode of the TV show in a 'bootleg' kind of fashion online on Dailymotion. It's decent-ish. Very reminiscent of your standard campy production, with lots of melodramatic staging and cliche lines of dialogue that you'd expect to see in on daytime TV slots besides game shows and expanded commercials. It actually made me think of pre-reboot
Doctor Who a lot.
The overall storyline is that a wealthy and well-connected group known as the "Luna Foundation" uses the recovery of lost artifacts as a front for analyzing and stopping paranormal activities that pose a significant danger. If I'm brutally honest, the only reason that I like the first episode so much is that it's about Irish mythology, in part, and I'm not just an Irish-American myself but also am somebody who takes my Irish heritage w.r.t. spirituality at least kind of seriously. I would say that the show doesn't contradict the film series at all, logically, but it also doesn't relate much to it either (other than being about, conceptually, trying to keep the doors between the spirit world and the human world all closed while having the detail of ghosts manipulating little girls).

So yes, I actually did sit baked in a port-a-potty lifted off the ground by a forklift on countrywide TV once.

A cutie mark I considered for him was a video game controller, making him more of a ponysona than a fan character.

I was just watching the saberspark video on Twlve Forever.
It had something mentioning someone whose ex also brought allegations forward to them.
And I have to wonder, I don't want to dismiss serous stories coming out and I don't think bad people should get off scotfree when they do horrible stuff.
But in times hen there's breakups and arguments happening, and people are active on social media, could my ex write about me that I was a very abusive narcissit who took pleasure in demeaning her? would people have to come out and go avoid me as if I'm a horrible predator because I managed to upset my ex partner against me?
And with all the stories flying around, are people wont to inflate their grievances online? Or are there just many jerkbags out there that used to be great at covering their behaviour up.

Sometimes we must remember to stay in doubt.
I'd feel pretty sucky though if I get a lot of hatemail over some claims of being highly improper.
And like, I wouldn't say I am consciously trying to be horrible, I do feel like it can be very easy to incur the wrath of someone over something trivial.
Or when you need to make a hard stand on something.

Oh my gosh
I'm going out of my mind over how insanely stupid modern technology has become.
I get an email from the gov that documents are there for me. (no spam)
But they don't send the documents over mail or email anymore. Instead they are on a secure inbox on a personalized account.
To log in, you must identify yourself, but my cardreader is no longer accepted.
You need to log in on an external identification app, that also requires an acount and there you also need a cardreader to create yet another account to be able to log in on your identification account.
Then I need to start using a password and an app on my smart phone to process the security tokens to log in.
After finally getting things through and getting everything set up, I am able to log in a few times using the password I set.
Not today.
Today the app is like "Who are you again? Do you want a new account? hey, your account already exists, do you want to go through the entire process again to set up your already existing account again? nevermind, we have a server error."
Geez, technology is supposed to make your life easier.

I don't even remember the last time I had software issues. Uh, I do use Linux, which means I only have myself to blame for software issues. Well, I'm still a young individual so I guess there's lots of room to eventually witness modern technological fails.

>>1164311I remember back in 2013 or so, you could build a virtual deck and you could play the MLP CCG on a virtual board as well.
I don't know if that's still an option.
The similarity with MtG is that you can play a card with a bunch of action points per turn. These action points here are given at a value at the start of your turn and increase per turn depending on the progress you made.
In the middle of the board there are friendship problems (or troublemakers?). You have to solve those in order to score points. You do that by moving your ponies from your home base to the problem until a condition is met (and doing so, you are in competition to your opponent, so you must hold them back from solving their problems).
To move ponies around, that's where you pay the action point cost)
You have a deck master with a particular ability, originally a Mane 6 card, but later a lot of different characters became deck masters. They have stuff like boosts for ponies in your deck and they start in a powered down version, but you can flip them if you meet a certain criterium and flipped they become more powerful.
Deck cards also have a colour and that colour helps, I think with synergies. You don't have to pick a single colour, but I remember the strategy was to pick a deck master and build a deck from ponies who share the color. And pick a secondary color as well as your offhand.
Then trying to find ponies that work well together.
Oh, I think there's also rules in how many cards of each 'strength" you can put in your deck.

>>1164313I'd assume Boat is like way smarter and more knowledgeable than me on the subject, so my answer may be a bit dissatisfactionary.
ReST uses transfer protocols (I see mainly HTTP(s) ) mostly to fire requests and return responses. Messages contain the standard headers and a body that can be encoded in any format desired (xml /json / plain text)
It is particularly stateless, so each request is understood to be an object on its own (it does not rely on an underlying history with previous messages).
This is circular reasoning, but it's now the most commonly used transfer method and as a standard, it's supported basically everywhere.
It's fast, has security tied to the transfer protocol of choice and it's easy to use.
I know SoAP was one of the main competitors, but working with XML can be clunky and the whole list of formalities to set up wsdl and such can be more complex than need to be.
I don't know if there are other transfer paradigms that come with their own supporters who think that ReST should be improved upon, so I don't really have a horse in the race yet.

> So in order to have Fluttershy as a master card, the entire deck needs to consist of yellow/kindness cards?I don't think it is required to have specific colors based on your deckmaster. It is just advised based on the synergies.
> Can't you have more than one deck master and switch out on occasion? I think there are rules however on how many deck masters you have. I think you can only pick 1. There are however none-deck master mane 6 cards as well. So in that way you can, for example both have Fluttershy Caring & Kindness (deckmaster) and Fluttershy Staremaster (Friend) in your play.

>>1164398Of course they stopped using her, the show ended.
...I mean I never got to the part where they stopped using her so I don't know the full circumstances, but like... her niche was as an obstacle to the CMC, right? And the reason she was an obstacle to the CMC was because she was a bully. When she stopped being a bully she stopped being useful to the writers.

There's like five different maps in IW Zombies. And I'm on the fourth map just barely getting acquainted with it. The demonic announcer sounds nice. But now it's time to sleep here in a bit.

>>1164471I can be a bit lenient on places.
A little ads are not something I worry about, and even know I am mostly "anal" about it.
Some rules:
1. Ad should not break the functionality of what I try to achieve. My initial push to adblock was because of pages breaking because ads covered the interactable part completely
2. Ad should not be malicious. i should not get a virus if I accidentally click an ad.
3. Preferrably I can take some modicum of ads, but it should not interfere with me using the app. If a 30 seconds clip is prefaced with 2 minutes of ads, I am tapping out.
4. content of apps should not be annoying.
It is at the latter point taht I take offense now.
Like, I don't care much and I can ignore it perhaps, but I'd rather have ads on the latest videogames, then having ads about political parties I am against, or ads about blatant scams.
Honestly, the crypto stuff bugs me even more than dumb mobile game apps.
i feel like crypto scams are so blatant that it gets insulting to look at them all the time.
