this might not be political persay, but do any of you guys believe in UFOs, aliens, ect? Do you think the government covers those sorts of things up?

 No.15539

I don't think it's likely when there are far more probable explanations for UAP or UFOs than extra terrestrial, usually really stupidly simole phenomena.

Like a lot of things, I think belief in aliens is mostly wishful thinking, especially the circular logic that comes with beliefs in government cover-ups to explain lack of any definitive empirical evidence.

Yeah. There is a lot of strange shit in the sky if you look long enough though. I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not going to scream aliens, but sometimes it's pretty unexplainable

Quite a lot of things involved with normal physics look freakin' crazy at the point of mentally frying a regular person's understanding of the world.

For example, there's not just ball lightning but basically anything to do with 'concentrated waves of plasma'.

A lot of it is perfectly explainable if you have sufficient evidence. It's just arrogant to conclude it unexplainable.

The statements "This is unexplainable given where we are right now." and "This can't ever be explained." aren't the same thing.

Also, neither of them are the same as "This clearly involves alien creatures." as an assertion.

To use the Carl Sagan framework that he used for examples of intellectual analysis, saying "My neighbor's garage has a magical dragon inside of it." is distinct from "I don't know what's inside my neighbor's garage." and "I don't believe that my neighbor will ever show me what's inside their garage." too.

UFOs as in designed by extraterrestrials that are appearing on earth? I think it would be foolish to completely discount the possibility but it's not particularly high on my internal probability meter for "paranormal" stuff at the moment. Extraterrestrials existing anywhere at all outside of earth? It feels like it would be unlikely that we're the only form of life anywhere at all I mean it's a huge universe but somehow there isn't any conclusive evidence for this yet. I'd say it's much more likely than extraterrestrial UFOs on earth though. I personally believe in extraterrestrial life of SOME sort but in the same way as someone would be agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist. In other words I have no reason to be remotely certain it's just a personal belief that I'm open to be disproven or proven or anything between.
>Do you think the government covers those sorts of things up?
Probably. But are they cover ups of extraterrestrials? Less likely.
