I wish I lived in a world in which a man giving children illegal drugs and then molesting them resulted in the person doing that going to jail... instead of them just getting mild criticism and having to turn down career opportunities.

I don't know all the details, but it's very suspicious that he didn't even want his congress seat back and just said, “I think that eight years is probably enough time in the United States Congress..." (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj0jgle8qnyo). It's like a kid saying, "Oh, someone found out something bad about me? Eh, I didn't want that candybar, anyway, kek." But then again, we've always had children running the government (see "Dr. Strangelove").
