Ah, so you use Wifi? Cable's certainly better.

We still have some snow left, or ice crusts rather, but they will be gone next week I guess.

I'm the DM, the heros are literally in a dungeon. Some old dwarven mines overrun by spiders and a cult.

Ah, RPG work.  I've got some to do, myself.  I've just started a campaign where I've thrust my party into the Olympics.  Should be a fun campaign, but I kinda got rushed into starting it, so I had to dig out my old notes and translate them from then to now.  First session went well, at least!

I'm just forcing it through Pathfinder 2.  The party includes an elf, a catfolk, a giant, a mermaid, and a stuffed teddy bear.  It's the kind of variety I love to see and it's something Pathfinder 2 can really deliver on.

You know?
Table top RPG (or MtG for that matter) are in a way peak Xennial / Millenial culture.

Yet I've never experienced these sort of things around school and my hang out spots until maybe some people were playing MtG before classes in university.

My kid's school however, does have a DnD session during the break and after school.

I mean when I was growing up, seeming even slightly interested in anything that wasn't cars or soccer was equivalent to stapling a "Kick my ass" sign to your forehead. There was nowhere to go to enjoy this shit.

Now basically every school here, even the small ones, usually have a TTRPG or other niche club. Its nice to see.

How did you eventually reach out?

>>1203734
Honestly, I admit, it would be social anxiety central for me.

When it comes to TTRPG for me, I just know I'll end up with a lot of sucky rolls and my character will just be killed all the time. And then I'm in a bad mood and I won't be up for being a pleasant player anymore.

I also finally decided to remove a spent spider egg sack this morning.
Well, appearently not all spider babies left yet. So I put the remnants in a cup somewhere else, so the remaining little ones can maybe get out sooner or later.

That depends largely on the game and your gm. Largely, your GM wont be deliberately trying to kill you, a lot of games have you "downed" rather than outright dead outside of extreme situations. Plus, there are plenty of systems more focused on exploration or rokeplaying than combat and deadly situations. Even then, many GMs will reward creative problem solving over "murder hobo"-ing your way through.

Of course, you also face systems that ARE made to he deadly, where the whole point is that you need to be careful and not act like youre Conan the Barbarian. These can definitely also be a lot of fun. One of my favorite campaigns I've tried were like this, forcing us all to be very careful and think out of the box. The campaign straight up ended with an impulsive action on my part forcing me and one other player' characters into gladiator battles with Execution on the line.

I won. He didn't. We had a full on funeral, and the emotional weight of it caused the party to split up out of a mix of grief, shame and frustration.

Now, this session WAS our last for that year so the campaign would've been put on hold or ended either way, but none of this was planned, and everyone loved it cause we'd been theough a lot of crazy shit and it really felt like an unexpected story twist.

Point is - tabletop RPG is not about "winning". There'll be a lot of ribbing and joking about bad rolls, but if you can find a decent group, everyone is there to enjoy the adventure with warts and all - not to treat it like a WoW Raid.

There's an undenable trauma stemming from my webcomic days where webcomics displayed DnD friend groups being severely punishing towards that unlikeable group member.

I dunno, still I personally don't know how to uphold a creative act within an actual social setting.

Possible solution: Don't be unlikable. Dont be a munchkin. Don't be an insufferable rules lawyer. Temper your main character syndrome. And you'll be fine

But of course, all that is just to say that the stereotype that people will tear off your head over a bad roll is nonsense. If it ain't your thing, it ain't your thing.

Competitive meta

You think you can be an anime character building a deck of cephalopods.
And you should have been building a deck of three or more rare equip cards and barely any monster at all. Just some random throw together of super elite ultra rare cards.

Arena has unfortunately commoddified victory, which means a lot of people find the deck that wins the fastest, often a turn 1 or 2 combo, and then if they don't have the cards they need for the combo in their opening hand they immeidately concede. If they do, they attempt to do it, and if you interrupt it in any way they concede. If you can't interrupt it, then you've lost.

All this basically amounts to you just don't get actual games of Magic.

>>1203748

Commander in particular can be more casual.  There's a community there that is usually ready to put their decks on a scale of how bad they are so that everyone can play their favorite decks.  Even cephalopods.

Hm... well, I never hosted a VTube or Twitch Stream or the like. But I have a few suggestions you might like.

1. Pine Forest clearing
Doesn't have to be in winter, just a plain pine forest clearing. Or maybe a "nook" within a pine forest such as a wooden platform or garden that Navi can decorate.
During October, the forest turns dark and spooky and during December, it's covered in snow, where Navi may decorate with lights.

2. Cottagecore
When it comes to Christmas as an "aesthetic", my favourite sub-genre of it is "Victorian Christmas". A time when modern Christmas traditions were introduced to our country from the German-side of Queen Victoria's family, a minature ice age keeping UK winters white and Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" hit the shelves.
Cottagecore is also a rather Victorian aesthetic. While often associated with Spring or Summer, it still primarily Earthy and homey. And can be complimented with lodges. For a more fantasy-direction, think Hobbit Holes.

If "Victorian Christmas" isn't your thing, there are other sub-genres to choose from, or maybe you can mix with other aesthetics to find more Navi's thing.

3. Wrapping paper
Just some plain green Christmas wrapping paper. Maybe a bit crinkled to show age and wear. Maybe star-shaped snowflakes pattern.

Just a few ideas off the top of my head.
