Spookyween is just about two weeks away, and a lot of folks out there are engaging in spooky games and movies and whatnot.

Me, for example.

I am someone.

I do this a lot, all year round.

But that's besides the point.

One thing that always attracts me to a spooky story is a monster that is unusual - not necessarily the most original thing ever, but just a monster that rarely seems to get any use.

I mean, I've seen plenty of vampires, zombies, ghosts, werewolves, giant spiders and so on and so forth... but what about all the OTHER monsters from folklore, myth, cryptids, etc.?

So I ask - what's an unusual monster YOU would love to see get a movie or game or whatnot? One that'd make you go "Yeah I'll give this a go" regardless of wether or not you have reason to think it'd even be particularly good?

We do have Dulset Tarn on the board.

Then again, can all those sort of luring spirits be classified into a single "ghost" entity?

Also Japanese yokai

What about alien monsters, like the Blob, or the Thing? Those were all the rage at some point.

I think spiders were the most popular critters in those. I also recall one with ants.

Oh, I know it's basically zombies and all.

But I wouldn't mind a modern entry on Herbert West, the Reanimator.

The secret will keep you alive.

A Kelpie could certainly be interesting.
In a similar vein, there is a movie on my "to watch this october" list called Death of a Unicorn which is, well... a killer unicorn movie. Outside of one brief gag in Cabin in the Woods, I can't say I have seen that one before.

Giant / Swarms of bugs are pretty much a whole trope in and of itself with how many of them there are by now. Gotta get some other animals in there!

Well since we're referencing Move Your Dead Bones, that actually is one I'd like to see.

Someone having a much more skeletal kind of zombie or creature, and actually trying to make it scary rather than cartoony. Probably hard to pull off, but could be interesting.

I've heard great things about Death of a Unicorn. If you're into cartoon-splatter flicks, I'd recommend Unicorn Wars.

> Someone having a much more skeletal kind of zombie or creature

Or going in the opposite direction, AI trained on deseased people injected in a sculpted body could be a very modern way of bringing back the dead.

But that's probably a bland idea for someone who is a very classic horror film fan.
