>>1199829ah, very neat that ponies are interested in them again. i would guess that ponies are memeing them more now as an antidote to the rise of conservative ideals (family, loyalty, hierarchy), as they provide a silly outlet within the bounds of conservative rules -- the silliness making it easy to edit with an eye towards liberalism (society, caring, democratic process)
film analysis: can be interpreted on multiple levels (twilight hayburger obsession, twilight being a glutton, video as a metaphor for intimate relationship with boyfriend) ...while at first glance it seems like it's just a silly video about twilight calling a hayburger her best friend, i think the hayburger is actually symbolic of twilight's intimate relationship with her boyfriend. This is confirmed further because when the video opened, all of Twilight's friends were happy for her finding a boyfriend (Fluttershy being physically absent (but her color still there) in this conversation because she was too embarrassed to talk about it). ...whereas in the final scene when Twilight is eating the hayburger, only Princess Celestia (who actually read Twilight's letter and is presumaby cringing because it describes her intimate relations in detail -- as she has the look of cringe, disgust and disbelief that wouldn't happen if it was just about a hayburger), Applejack (the literalist, who would have believed Twilight was actually talking about a hayburger --although her expression seems to indicate she might also know), and a random pony (who probably thought she just really liked hayburgers) were present. --Actually, I just noticed Pinkie Pie was there too (the pony that would be least concerned about proper eating) -- appearing to hide her face. of course, this could also be about twilight getting fat, which is why it works .... (The other ponies -- Fluttershy -- again, too shy to be there, while Rarity and Rainbow probably don't fit the song/message too well and would have made more sense for them to just not be present - RD more interested in racing than sensitivity and the situation being too crude for Rarity to be there
So, the videopony was able to convey liberal values of the openness required for democratic process directly through the animation paired with the lyrics and music while also reinforcing conservative values, as the lyrics are silly and could have multiple meanings (silly video about hayburger obsession on first glance/video about getting fat/intimate relations with boyfriend). Regardless of level of interpreation, however, Twilight seems to have gotten way too carried away -- even Princess Celestia is cringing and Pinkie is hiding her face
