Are you ready for those cool evenings? For all the yellow and orange trees? Hoodies, jumpers and hot coco?

Autumn Days when the grass is jewelled
and the silk inside a chestnut shell.
Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled
and the things I love so well
So I mustn't forget, no I mustn't forget,
to say a great big thank you, I mustn't forget.

>>1199734There are variations of the song.
It was a "school hymn" growing up, though I've always been curious why it was regarded a school hymn when it isn't direct praise to god.

Still funny, what the heck does autumn having to do with jets refueling mid flight? And what's the attraction why did the song writer love it so well?

>>1199736I honestly question if it's a Brit song to begin with.
I mean yeah, it was sung at the schools I grew up with, but it sounds a rather Americana take on Autumn than the Autumns I'm familiar with.
Only reason that says otherwise is Americans call Autumn "Fall".

No.1199757
>>1199756If it's anything like here, there are some schools were singing together is a thing, especially in younger grades. Or it used to be a thing when I was a kid ,at least.
We also did it when I was in boarding school in tenth grade. Every morning we watched the news, discussed them and sang a couple songs. It's largely to keep older culturally relevant songs alive.

>>1199756>>1199757In UK primary schools, at least when I was growing up, we had school assembly that often has a school hymn to sing and usually concludes with the lords' prayer.
I dunno if it's changed since.

>>1199757>>1199763Never had anything like that growing up in Texas, closest thing was a school anthem played at football games by the marching band. That sounds kinda like what I expected a school hymn to be and it just seems so british and makes me think of Pink Floyd or old Monty Python Sketches.
No.1199767
>>1199763>>1199764Some of em are old hymns, sure, but they're not all religious and it's not so much a religious activity as just a cultural one.
The School Songbook includes a few more contemporary popular music evergreens, surviving viking hymns, as well as just poems and such.

>>1199764Eh, British schools usually start with assembly where the headmaster or teacher gives out any school news, then we sing a hymn, then the lords prayer.
Of course, with how multi-cultural and mixed Britain is these days, I dunno if they stil do it.
>>1199767We had some bangers such as "Whole World In His Hand", "Sing O'Sana", "Kum ba yah" and, if Christmastime, some traditional carols.
What's strange though is, I'm pretty sure I recall one school hymn about the infanticide of King Herod, but putting in the lyrics I remember, I can't find anything on Google about it. I'm starting to question if it's one of those Mandela memories.
>>1199796Even back then, public schools were mixed, but everyone just accepted school Assembly was a Christian thing and just wanted to get school over and done with,

We had a few that became favorites. Ramund Hin Unge, an old viking hymn, was pretty popular in my tenth grade class.
