The rage against the machine?

I keep getting this horrible reoccurring thought; a thought that makes me incredibly sad. In this world, there are people that are for whatever reason or another, essentially unlovable. Whether self inflicted, due to injury, birth defect, ect, ect, there are people in this world who are going to essentially die alone.

Male loneliness, female loneliness? There is a human loneliness epidemic. People are forgetting how to talk to people.

I saw a video of this desperate and lonely girl listening to a "Boyfriend ASMR video" and responding to the audio as she listened.

"Pizza sounds so delicious right now."

From one of the most unlikable, lonely, and desperate females on the internet. -- And it made me feel like I was drowning; like I was slipping into a void of hopeless. The way her voice said it so sleepily -- Like they were her last thoughts in life, slipping through her fingers like fine sand.

Why is this making me so upset?

on the other hoof, i avoid ASMR in general as well as videos in which a pony purports to be a boyfriend/girlfriend/etc. in their videos because those kinds of videos are just sad (for both the creator and listener)

I'd say it reflects on a lot of potential things.

The creators for wanting attention, money, clout, ect. The people listening to this stuff out of loneliness and a desperate feeling for connection. (Though I guess you could argue that about any romantic form of escapism, I suppose)

And society as a whole for why this niche has become so popular with the rise of internet interactions and less face to face social intertactions.

It's just makes me feel sad. For some reason this is making me remember this girl I used to see at school who would get bullied by some of the other kids there. It was high school, and while bullying isn't as common as middle school, it would happen. They used to just talk shit about her because she was admittedly a bit fat, and not the most attractive girl.

But she was really nice, I remember she gave me chocolate one time on the bus because I was one of the few people that didn't give a fuck and would talk to like everyone.

I wasn't ever really mean to her, but I do wish I was a lot more nice to her.

I guess that's slightly off topic, but its a thought that came to mind. Hope she's doing well.
