>Remember back to when I was young and always finding it funny that my dad after work would be tired and would just sleep
>Now fast forward to now, me in my mid 30s
>Worked from 8am to 3pm today
>Get home and I can hardly keep my eyes open and just want to sleep

Yeah we all turn into some version of our parents eventually. It's always surprising how much is genetic and how much is environment.

At some point though you'll notice some things they do that you don't, and some things you do that they don't, and you'll find comfort in it.

I would spend all of middle and high school sleeping, and then come home after school and sleep for the evening, waking up to enjoy the night.  My parents would always yell at me about it.

Now I still do that, but no one yells at me about it, which is super cool.

I thought the same today. I never understood how my mother could just nap in the afternoon. Now - especially on Friday after the work week is over - I am regularly dead tired and nap on the couch.

> Be 40 with kids
> Be tired often
> Still get up at 6 in the morning every schoolday to make sure my daughter's ready for school
> Haven't been able to properly doze off in the middle of the day due to always being busy with house work and stuff

Also, my daughter has exams now and I am extremely anxious and fail to fall asleep worrying whether she studied enough

Anxieties and worries about school is soooo much worse - or like at least not comfortably absent when you're the parent.

< Forget homework as a Kid
^ Shit, my parents gonna be cross with me
< Kid forgets schoolwork as an adult
^ School is gonna contact me to question why my kid isn't keeping up with schoolwork lately. With a side threat of CPS involvement

Anxiety!

Sometimes yes.

I also have the problem of snapping wide awake after work.

>work 9pm to 6am
>go to gym for an hour after
>go home and sleep at about noon or 1am

I think so much of this is basic physical experience hitting different.

Like being a man or a woman in your 30s doing something like getting a box out of a car, putting it inside somewhere, going back for another box, and then putting that one back... like... your body will be screaming at you...

Damn. Yeah.
