I should probably wait until the 1st of January 2025 to start an official thread that lists everybody's fitness related hopes, dreams, and goals... but I want to do it now, I guess, just for fun!

I disagree with the concept of waiting for specific times of the year to do things. If you want to give someone a gift, give them the fucking gift. if you have the motivation to start a new habit, start the fucking habit. it's not complicated, and assigning it to specific days of the year not only ruins momentum, it spoils the specialness of the item.

i am trying to find ways to intergrate more training into my day. before i injured my knee, i was getting into the habit of doing 5 tibetan rites and basic stances first thing in the morning; then followed by tai chi and my Plumblossom Mantis
but while my knee recovers (it's almost there); i've just been doing the tai chi, but i also have been working on my staff forms and basics
plus i'm trying to embrace spontenaity as a general mindset; and doing what comes to mind in the moment; like doing crane steps downstairs, or seeing if i can keep balance in a buddha stance (it's one legged) while riding an elevator, or seeing if i can do a mirror version of a form while i wait for water to heat for tea

I'm mostly focussing on improving my snowboarding this winter. I'm keeping on going to the gym too.
It's been hard keeping my weight though... I'm super skinny at the moment...

I have never been ice-skating before, let alone know any ice rinks in my area.
And even if January is colder than December in Mid-Wales, I have never seen a frozen lake in real life let alone people skating on one.

>>1181633I think if you've got some hopes, dreams, goals, or whatever that're explicitly about exact numbers (like "I'm going to walk 3,000 steps or more over the course of these two days"), then naturally you're going to feel the urge to set these up based on specific dates. Since you're just adding math to more math in your mental project based on math (like "I'm going to ___ from January 1st to 31st").
If you're just doing whatever, whenever, then do whatever the hell you want, I suppose!
