It is true that there is no smoking gun definitively proving that seed oils are a major cause of the obesity epidemic. And the obesity epidemic is likely not monocausal. The exfatloss guy needed to reduce consumption of BCAAs (in addition to cutting out seed oil) to lose weight. SlimeMoldTimeMold thinks that lithium contamination explains a lot of the obesity epidemic. Convenient hyperpalatable foods are probably a factor too.

But still, there is a significant amount of evidence suggesting that seed oil is unhealthy. At the very least, cutting out seed oil forces one to avoid lots of junk food, because seed oil is in most junk food.
