>>7520People will always have opinions, and they'll always pressure you. Simply trying to please the most vocal people can end up being quite destructive.
You were the one selected. I know that under all the pressure and uncertainty, you know what is fair, and what isn't. Somebody will be unhappy no matter what.
You could make your friends happy without being admin. It is good that you listen to everyone, and it is important that they aren't ignored, but I think you have a good mind of your own when you aren't so stressed. You know what is right, and what isn't. Whatever flaws you might have had and however you may have tried to cover it up in the past, you and I both know that you've always had a very strong sense of ethics.

No.12390
>>12385 After spending most of my Ponychan-time for several months in Story thread, one of the users informed me that everyone in the thread wanted me gone. I asked for clarification and was told to fuck off. Later that day, I came back and asked if there was any truth in it; everyone in the very active thread ignored me and when confronted, told me not to worry about it, even as I was clearly worrying about it. So, with nothing conclusive except one person claiming to speak for the group, and a bunch of people who refused to say otherwise, I left.
Months later, Admiral convinced me to give it another shot - thinking I was someone else. So I did. Specifically, I made a post asking why I was told to leave. I didn't ask for an apology. I simply asked for a reason: why I was told to leave, and why everyone supported me leaving and/or didn't raise a single objection to the initial statements that they all wanted me gone. To this, Minxy, the ringleader of the group and one of the people who was in that very active thread and who tried to brush it under the rug in the first place, basically told me once again to fuck off, saying the fact that I was even asking for a reason meant that they were justified in kicking me out previously, even as s/h/e/it was one of the people who gave no reason one way or the other.
So rather than be a second-class citizen to a bunch of back-stabbing self-righteous hypocrites, I left the site and haven't looked back. I refuse to be on the same site as that group and anyone who supports them.

>>12391 I appreciate that, but if I'm not getting an apology, and I'm not going to get one because they're too conceited to admit any wrongdoing whatsoever, at any time, ever, then I never want to see them even accidentally if they wander out of their containment cell.
I would still love to know what I did that was so unthinkable that they wanted me gone. I never argued with anyone. I can't even recall a major disagreement. Is it because i posted ponies instead of scantily clad anime girls? Is that really the reason? Because I literally can't imagine anything else it might have been.
At least have the common fucking decency to tell someone you have a problem with them, or what they're doing, before you kick them to the curb.

>>12393 I've thought about this quite a bit. See, I've been humiliated by this group, not once, but twice. The first time, no one even bothered to go to bat for me. The second time, the main person responsible somehow managed to claim the moral high ground while doing so, and was again unchallenged in this regard. So if I go back to your site, I'm admitting that 1) I'm a punk bitch with zero self-respect who, 2) was unable to stand up for himself and, 3) they were right to both kick me out AND humiliate me and, 4) everything they used as justification is true, because it remained unchallenged. So, because I have the tiniest shred of self-respect, I cannot return to Ponychan as long as that group is still there, because of 1, 2, 3, and 4. If there is no reason, then I can't challenge it. If there is no apology, then I'm a punk bitch for returning, because in that case I'd be purposefully hiding from this group on a site that they have free reign on. So, I guess I'm not coming back.

well, besides EMF, i guess. i dont remember entirely who decided to fling shit at you.

No.12396
>>12395 I already tried that. the response from Minxy was something along the lines of "I don't know why we hate you, but the fact that we hate you means we're justified in hating you."
possibly. I don't even remember exactly who it was that initially said they all wanted me gone. Rainy Days or Bleeding Raindrops I think - something with rain - but Minxy's taken up the mantle and become their spokesperson, so whether everyone else is gone or not is irrelevant to me, because the loudest proponent has always been and is still there.
and this is why I'd at least like a reason. maybe I actually did something wrong? maybe, since I was really depressed at the time, I did something particularly shitty that I wasn't aware of? but again, there was no 'hey, cut it out' or 'that thing you said was inappropriate' or anything along those lines, so not only did I have zero chance to address it, but I also have no idea what it might have been, if anything.

Dearest Gaku. It is with the sincerest apologies that I disturb you, because I do not wish to do so, but I simply must inform you of something.
I am incredibly thankful for you from the very bottom of my heart. It is because of your creation that I now have some of the most wonderful and positive people I have ever had in my life. I would not trade these friends for the world, and without the realm of wonder you created, I would have never ever had the opportunity of interacting with them. Without them I would be much worse off in the health of my spirit and mind, and thus due to your world, I myself have been made a better person.
I hope that you can forgive me for taking up a bit of your time, I understand everyone has quite a limited amount nowdays, and I don't wish to waste your's. But please just know that I will be thankful to you and my wonderful friends until the day I depart onto the next adventure, and so I just wanted to let you know from my own heart that I would not change the experiences that I have had, and it's because of some of the positive experiences I have had with these people. So thank you, thank you very much, and please. Please never stop being the person who created this wonderful world. Please, for everyone. Thank you very much again and I hope everything goes wonderfully for you. Sorry for the disturbance again. Sincerely, Branden.
PS: I don't want anything from you, even a response. Please don't, actually, unless you really want to. Like... I'm not a pictures kind of guy, I don't think I ever will be. If I could draw you a happy little painting instead, I think I would, but I can't. So I hope that maybe this can bring you a smile, or maybe even just lift your frown up a bit if you are doing that. I don't know. Thank you for your time again sir. Salutations and best wishes.

Introduction
Amoeboid motility involves the coordinated extension of a leading edge followed by substrate adhesion and cell body retraction. Although nematode sperm share these hallmark processes with all other crawling cells, they are devoid of actin and rely instead on a cytoskeleton based on the substantially smaller 14 kDa major sperm protein (MSP), which comprises approximately 40% of the soluble protein and 15% of the total protein in sperm (Klass and Hirsh, 1981; Nelson et al., 1982; Sepsenwol et al., 1989; King et al., 1992). MSP and actin fill analogous roles in amoeboid cells; however, MSP has little in common with actin at the molecular level, and the two molecules share neither sequence homology (King et al., 1992) nor structural homology (Bullock et al., 1996b). Instead, MSP belongs to a large family of proteins to which it lends its name, the MSP domain proteins (MDPs), the divergent members of which are present in species ranging from Saccharomyces to Homo sapiens (reviewed in Tarr and Scott, 2005a).
Sperm of the parasitic roundworm Ascaris suum contain two isoforms of MSP, both of which are 14 kDa 126 residue-long basic polypeptides with dimensions of 15 x 20 x 45 Å3. Monomers of both isoforms associate in solution to form tightly-bound homodimers which are held together by an extensive hydrophobic interface and exhibit 2-fold non-crystallographic rotational symmetry (Haaf et al., 1998). MSP dimers may be induced to polymerize into filaments in vitro through the addition of water-miscible alcohols, and filaments formed in this manner are indistinguishable at low resolution both from each other and also from filaments formed in vivo (King et al., 1992; Bullock et al., 1996a). Additionally, MSP filaments may be induced to assemble into long, needle-like crystals in the presence of high molecular weight polyethylene glycol (PEG) (King et al., 1992).
It has long been believed that MSP filaments are constructed such that MSP dimers assemble into left-handed single-helical subfilaments, a configuration represented within the needle-like crystals formed by MSP dimers in high molecular weight PEG, and that two such subfilaments coil around each other to form a double helical right-handed filament (Stewart et al., 1994). Higher order assemblies may be formed by purified MSP in ethanol when three or more double-helical filaments coil around each other into left-handed helical fibers (King et al., 1994). Put more plainly, the long-standing coil-of-coils MSP filament model posits that two left-handed helices coil around each other in a right-handed double-helix, and that multiple right-handed double-helices may coil around each other into left-handed helical fibers. This model is based on data conflated primarily from needle-like orthorhombic crystals of purified MSP and from low resolution electron micrographs of non-physiologically polymerized MSP filaments and filament assemblies. While there are many valid conclusions to be drawn from these studies, there are significant discrepancies in this model that have never been addressed or resolved. The model additionally remains unproven, due in large part due to the extreme difficulty in extracting useful information regarding MSP structure at the filament level. In fact, no subsequent structural studies at the filament level have been published, and thus the coil-of-coils model has never been challenged or otherwise revised in the decades since its publication. A careful reevaluation of the published structural data on MSP, including the several atomic structures which have been published since the coil-of-coils model was first put forward, has made it clear that a radically different model is necessary to accurately represent the various independent findings. This paper seeks to demonstrate the unambiguous conclusions that have long been overshadowed by the coil-of-coils model, show how these conclusions better represent the existing data than the coil-of-coils model, and reveal a more elegant model for the structure of filamentous MSP which is in full agreement with the existing data.

The first two I mentioned before (one blew me off, one is relatively inactive). The third - I found today and messaged him about the group. He enthusiastically joined and said he's down for in-person meetups.
While considering the problems with this sort of local group, I came up with an idea to work on a card game of sorts modeled after Drinking is Magic (

One person's blog post pointed out some unusual but completely legitimate uses of the site, for example focusing on computer Q&A, a cooking blog, etc. So given those extremes, there's no 'wrong' way to use the site, but YMMV, especially depending on what you're looking for.
You're one of my favorite people to debate with on the 'chans, 1) because you acknowledge nuance, 2) because you don't intentionally strawman, 3) you don't keep repeating the same arguments over and over without addressing my points or counterarguments, and 4) we can actually come to agreement on things as we debate.

Sometimes I worry I get a bit too into it, moralize too hard, come across smarmy, etc. We've both got fairly strong convictions and while sometimes those convictions give us common ground, other times they put us in diametrically opposite positions. >>14726So. Debate for me has always been an attempt to combine processing resources. Ideas are quickly developed and abandoned, sides switched and reswitched, and it almost never ends anywhere close to where it started, but the journey is quite satisfying. I had a deeply religious friend I loved debating with in school.
Otherwise, when I detect that the goal is convincing people rather than trying to understand something, I drop into the same mode I use when dealing with authority. I conceed the point and try to make the person go away with their petty victory quickly so I can go back to what they were trying to talk me out of.

>>14840A few years ago she did. Atrial fibrillation since. Untreatable due to circumstances. Last week she had sudden fainting spells, which she has never had before, so after the fifth in a couple hours dad called an ambulance and I came down. Protip: don't ever go to an ER if you work in healthcare. It's not good knowing the procedures and the shortcuts and miscommunications. They kept her a few days but couldn't ID anything, so her cardiologist ordered a wearable heart monitor with a button to push to record and transmit when she feels faint. Thursday morning he calls her to say the fainting episodes are her heart stopping for around 10 seconds, and he orders her to the hospital for a pacemaker. Because she was on blood thinners the surgery had to wait until today, with the longest stoppage measured being 90 seconds. I was supposed to meet with the surgeon and the pacemaker person yesterday but I was at work. Again today but the latter couldn't make it and the former was looking for me in the wrong waiting room. I'll talk with them tomorrow and she'll be let go in the afternoon. Until then I'm taking care of dad, who can't really care for himself.

>>14901 Lately I've just become really tense. It's sort of like I'm doing a crunch 24/7.
I've also got some neighbors who just refuse to fuck off and keep bugging me for rides, even as I explain to them that I can't be interrupted right now. It would be fine, but they don't pay enough to make it worth my time. As an example, they'll waste like 2 hours of my time by wanting me somewhere, then not being ready, and oh but actually they're somewhere else, and then they're still not ready, and the destination is just down the street but in reality all the way across town, and there are 2 extra stops they didn't tell me about. and I'll get something like 5 bucks for it. And as I tell them I'm busy, they just interrupt me constantly AS I'M DRIVING OTHER PEOPLE "You done yet?" no, you idiot, I'm not done yet. Or I get home at the end of the night and ready to go to sleep, "Hey, you ready?" Or they'll wake me up in the morning/day, even after I tell them when I sleep. And one of them just doesn't even pay me. says he has money to pay me, but oh wait, it's actually at the destination, but surprise surprise it isn't there either.
I'd love to just sit and down a couple of bottles of wine that are in my fridge from when my mom visited a while back, but I don't have time for that.
If you've had a chance to watch it, I'm curious, what did you think of the video?

I'm curious, have you ever encountered this issue before:
Every couple of months, my dog will all of a sudden become super sensitive to touch, where she yelps out in pain if I just barely touch her torso. It lasts a little while, she's sluggish for a day or so, and then she's fine after that. She did it again today, and she even yelped when I touched the top of her head. She's a bit better but sleeping now.

>>15097 I think so. it'll be interesting. it's my old neighbors who moved half-way across town, who I still give rides to almost daily. father, wife, eight kids, sister, grandmother(?), perhaps some additional cousins and relatives? I was over at their place today, and there were well over 15 total. really nice people, though the father is possibly a drug dealer, which also makes things interesting.
He was telling me about some weirdness that happened to one of the other neighbors, here. She had a boyfriend who she let drive her car, and the cops tried to pull him over. The cops had been staking him out for some reason and the father had seen them hanging out in the parking lot outside my apartment a few days back. Anyway, instead of pulling over, he fled, threw 3 guns out the window including I think two sub-machineguns, and then totaled the car. He's now in jail and she is without a car.

Well, someone did that to him today, and we waited, and waited, and waited, and then we went to a gas station to meet them, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and then we drove off and they called saying they were at the gas station, so we parked at another gas station a half mile away, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and then finally this woman shows up.

No.15238
>>15236Reviews I think are bombing harder than they should be. It's fun. Still, needs *a lot* of polish, balance, and QoL improvements. Borrows good ideas from a lot of games but I appreciate the very few unique things the most. Huge downside is that a lot of systems are actually impossible to balance well. My civil war broke out because I discovered too late that I cannot release vassals. I can convert pops at 20 oratory a pop but I need to convert upwards of 200 and I produce 5 oratory a month. I am informed of this being relevant 2 years before war breaks out. It discourages aggressive play (since AE is more meaningless; no coalition threshold) but it's hard to respond to besides getting more aggressive.
Needs to improve the casus belli mechanism for sure. Either decrease the stab hit for no cb wars or give more ways to get a cb besides spending 200 blue mana for a claim, or being Rome and getting unlimited free claims if you play through the events. Obscure mechanics need to have better tooltips or access to the information *somewhere*. It's hard to know which mechanics are relevant to your form of government and which aren't, and what governs them. As Carthage I start with low research efficiency because I have 900 pops and only produce 500... and some cryptic icon that appears nowhere else and does not say how to increase it.
I do appreciate that hard caps have mostly been done away with. Your economy no longer implodes by having 150 troops instead of 149. Taking taking Rome, Athens, and (unpopulated desert) no longer makes you literally Hitler when taking Rome and Athens and all of their money was 100% acceptable and encouraged.
It needs polish. They borrowed Vicky focuses to guide provinces and fused them with Stellaris sectors via CK2 characters and they're really neat. Could be more useful but I understand not wanting to subvert all player control. But player control in province development is too cumbersome to be useful. The building planner lacks the projected impact. The lack of hard limits is double edged as you can say "I don't know what that means and I don't care" about certain penalties. Especially since sometimes it actually doesn't affect your situation, but that's hard to know if it does or not.

I tried to go to sleep early last night. I couldn't sleep. Instead, for hours, my mind was racing, playing a scenario over and over in my head, of how I'd go about ending my life. not what ifs or alternatives, but walking though it, moment by moment, refining it. Some time around 6a, I got up and started looking up guns online. What I would need is very much in the realm of possibility. It's hard to describe the feeling I had, a mix of dread and giddiness. It was the first time I'd felt "alive" in months.
But I wanted more information. So I did a search for something like "suicide gun to the head", and google instantly gave me a link to a suicide hotline. Thanks, but I ain't interested in that. I found instead what I was looking for - a site that gives no-nonsense information to those who seek it. I spent a good bit of time reading it, starting with their page and statistics on self-inflicted gunshot wounds, including how to do it "right".
I decided to check out the rest of the site, including some of their background information. I started reading about people who go through with it, and what gets them to that point, "risk factors" and the like, and I was like yep, yep, yep, that's me.
But as i read, they also made some good arguments against doing it. so much so I almost started crying a couple of times. But aside from all their specific examples, the main point is that things can get better, and basically the only way to find out is to live it. would seem obvious, but I guess it's easy to lose sight of that.
Anyway, my mind finally stopped racing, and some time after dawn, I finally managed to get a few hours of rest. I can't entirely shake the idea, but getting a different perspective has helped.
I know I could have come here at any point and said this. I could have come here when my mind first started walking me through the scenario over and over. And I'm sure you guys would have done anything you could think of to help. Just knowing that means the world to me.
Now maybe I'm going to sound like a hypocrite, because I know you're all overwhelmed in your own ways, and not wanting to contribute more to it was the reason I didn't say anything in the first place. So even though I know you'd all try to help, I didn't want to force you to do that. I decided to post this now because I don't think I need to be talked out of anything at present, so please don't feel that there's any urgency to what I'm saying. Maybe it's still selfish of me to say it, and maybe it's still unfair to burden you with knowing - I'm not sure. But I do think it's something that needs to be said, and honestly you're the only people I can trust enough to say it to.

I went out to the river last night. I hadn't been out there since some time last year. I took a tall white russian, a small set of speakers, and some bug spray.
When I arrived, half a dozen people were loading their motor boats onto trailers and leaving the landing. After they left, I had the whole river to myself.
I left my shoes in my car and headed off into the forest. I love feeling the ground. It's been ages since I did that.
It was a cool 75 degrees. The insects weren't bombarding my light. Instead, there were moths just lazily hovering along the trail. beautiful.
I walked a couple hundred yards through the forest. The place where I went is one of my favorite places in the world. It's also the place in that scenario that I ran through for hours and hours. Before I went, I wasn't sure what the water level would be like - if the whole area would be flooded out or not (as it sometimes is). There's this saying that you never visit the same river twice. But it was kind of surreal - walking out of the forest and finding it to be
exactly the way I was picturing it.
A long, white sand, river sandbar, gently sloped into the shallow water, all to myself. I took my shirt off and the very light breeze was amazing. Some mosquitoes finally found me, so I ended up using some bug spray, but they weren't too much of a problem after that.
I planted myself on the sandbar, let my eyes adjust to the moonless night, and watched the show. fish jumping. fireflies. the glow of the city in the distance, and constellations above.
I put on some music - a Pandora station of music I grew up with, and I sang along with it. For harmony, I had crickets, cicadas, frogs, and birds calling to one another through the forest.
I savored my drink. delicious. and I just took in the experience.
eventually I laid back on the sandbar and started watching the stars. I traced a path up to the North Star. I found a handful of constellations. and I watched dimmer stars shimmer in and out of sight. a couple of shooting stars as well - how lucky is that.
A couple of nights ago, I thought this would be the perfect place to kill myself. how selfish is that - to just ruin it for anyone else. to change it from "that incredible spot on the river" to "that place where that guy killed himself"
and instead I realized that no matter how things get, I've always got this incredible spot that I can come back to.
And I wanted to say, thanks again for listening.

>>15297 today was pretty decent, not for progressing in any way, but I certainly feel better. I helped some of my former neighbors move a portion of their family from one apartment to one on the other side of their complex. (They'd been waiting a long time for an apartment to open up and finally got it.) I ended up doing about 75% of the work. 4 trips using my car, loading and unloading, about half of it in the rain. they can't afford much but they paid me a bit. it's nice to feel like you're useful, even if it's in a small way.

>>15300 I'm sure some of my late family members would have agreed with you. I'm not sure about God per se, but honestly, when I was out there, the thought that "the universe is trying to tell me something" did cross my mind. I wondered what all I've missed by simply not looking in the right place and being open to it. I was wondering if anyone else happened to be gazing up at the same parts of the sky, and if they too saw the same shooting stars, or if I was the only one who noticed, as incredibly cheesy as that might sound.
I would love to share this place with others. I've only shared it with one other person in the same capacity. He was someone I'd never met before, back when I was doing Uber rides, and he was having an amazingly terrible night. So I offered to drop everything and take him out to my favorite place just outside of town. He picked up his fishing gear on the way, and we fished and talked for hours while sharing a 6-pack, and we finally headed back into town some time between 5 and 6 in the morning. I don't know if it made a huge difference, but I think it brightened up his night.
When I left to go to the river 2 nights ago, I didn't take my dog with me, because I didn't want to be distracted and I knew she'd be too excited for me to do anything except chase after her. She knew exactly where I was going when I grabbed the backpack. She whined and pushed herself between me and the door, and once I left, she started wailing. I felt really bad that I left her behind, but I know that I needed to go alone. So I figured I'd make it up to her by taking her out to the river later this afternoon.

I took a mother and her daughter to the Dollar Tree yesterday. The daughter, roughly 3-4 years old, remembered that I had a dog and was really excited about it. When they came back out, the daughter gave me a large doggie chew toy and a bag of treats. It was really cute. Unfortunately she was scared of the chew toy (almost as big as she is!) and hasn't (yet?) taken to the treats, but I told them she liked to treats.

Anyway, over the past few months, and mostly the last week, I've made the decision that while I do still desire a female body, God needs me to be a man. I might do the odd roleplay online, but I'm switching all my pronouns back. It's sort of a bittersweet feeling, but I trust that God knows what he's doing. I do feel better after all of this, knowing that he's carrying me.

Many fundamentally schizoid individuals display an engaging, interactive personality that contradicts the observable characteristic emphasized by the DSM-IV and ICD-10 definitions of the schizoid personality. Klein classifies these individuals as “secret schizoids”, who present themselves as socially available, interested, engaged and involved in interacting yet remain emotionally withdrawn and sequestered within the safety of the internal world.
Withdrawal or detachment from the outer world is a characteristic feature of schizoid pathology, but may appear either in “classic” or in “secret” form. When classic, it matches the typical description of the schizoid personality offered in the DSM-IV. It is however “just as often” a hidden internal state: that which meets the objective eye may not match the subjective, internal world of the patient. Klein therefore cautions that one should not miss identifying the schizoid patient because one cannot see the patient’s withdrawal through the patient’s defensive, compensatory interaction with external reality. He suggests that one need only ask the patient what his or her subjective experience is in order to detect the presence of the schizoid refusal of emotional intimacy.

So, I think this is my map I'll be going with for an alternate CK2 start. There's going to be a gap of around 500 years in history, but I figure that will be fine. The territory that would normally be in Germany I'm going to set up as client states instead of directly controlled, but in exchange the bit of England I control is all I'm going to do on the Isles.
Sunset Invasion on, we're going to go full alt-history with this one. The Roman Empire never fell, but instead stagnated and an advanced Aztec Empire crosses the Atlantic to find an established Empire that cannot match their technology.
Basically, it's going to be this set of territory, a couple of my client states, and a 500 year gap to explain the CK2 nations existing in the areas that aren't Rome or Rome client states.
Everything else I'd do with this campaign is just holding pattern and breaking up any nascent superstates that arise on my borders, so I figure this is a good place to stop.
Dunno if either of you two ever really look here anymore.

should be able to stand up to a smaller unit without much issue.
