I was wondering if there was any conversation about "rebranding" this website. Other pony imageboards are in the process of rebranding, and getting away from the pony references, for several reasons.
Would this board ever consider them?

I think that rebranding would make it faster. Other pony websites are becoming general ones.

Because many places are rebranding, I feel all the more that this place stands to gain by not rebranding. Ponychan may soon not be ponychan anymore, but ponyville can remain as a true reminder why we got here in the first place.
I don't see any good reason to rebrand.
And this is probably harsher, but I don't exactly know what kind of traffic we could boost by throwing out the legacy.
Better to wait on G5 and catch potential traffic from there than to throw away our identity.

Silly Iara, change is bad.

It had years on it, and on bourbon street it got soaked in liquor. Turned from a fedora/trilby into a bucket hat.

it is a... discussion worth considering, but not yet, and maybe not for a time
even then... it would not be a full change. probably. we could setup like, maybe a new domain, that defaults to a different site theme... but i would never get rid of the ponyville domain and template... it is too meaningful.

>>7272>>7273it is evident that even amongst our present users, some would be more comfortable with a non-pony template, or place to be
aside from traffic... i think, might not be the fairest take. aside from our own comfort zones, rather, what would it take away?
i am not excited by the prospect, either. but, i can also not see the harm.
No.7295
>>7294Our comfort zones are an important consideration, aren't they? That's part of why this place was made. The site is pony themed for a reason. The themeing matters to me, because the show and its values matter to me. There are plenty of other sites without this themeing, you know?
If someone
else is discomforted by the expression of those values or that love, then that's fine. It's to be expected. We can't appease everyone. Better to go out being oneself, I think. I feel it's strange and a bit insulting to come to a certain culture made for a certain purpose and demand it be changed

>>7300I mean, I can see that the site and MLP itself is very important to you, but I'm struggling a bit to see the insult part.
From my perspective, Muffin observed that other websites were rebranding, so they asked if we were also considering rebranding.
If they had come in and been like, "yo you
should rebrand, then that might have been a bit more insulting, at least to me.
But either way, I think Artee had a good point in that we can hold onto the legacy and be one of the few still doing the pony thing. I also thought Moony had a very good compromising suggestion, though how hard that would be to implement-and if it would be worth it, is another question I don't know the answers to.

But honestly, Moony gets to make the calls as it's on his paycheck, I think. Which is a pretty huge deal that I shouldn't take for granted.
I'd still be saddened to see the pony branding go, even if it wouldn't be relevant anymore. For sentimental reasons.

Keep it pony-branded. Nothing is stopping anybody — or anypony — from posting about other stuff.
