The recent Strawberry Shortcake show Berry in the Big City seemed like it was something of a haven for FiM staff. It had Jason Theissen and some of the voice actors at least.

I actually only ever watched the Christmas special, but there was definitely a FiM flavor, so I've been meaning to check out the show proper.

I think the music has to be a big factor in it.  That's why I agree with you about Steven Universe.  I've seen the show occasionally and it's got some really good songs.  The music in Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games were really good too, which is why I love them despite being Equestria Girls. Hazbin Hotel is coming to mind too.  It has great music from what I've seen (which is only like two songs) but it's certainly not very ponylike.

Lauren Faust went on to make Super Best Friends Forever.

I never watched it, but I bet it has the same vibes as her MLP series.

Though I don't know if you're looking for anything in particular.

I will say that there's a very common vibe in 2010s cartoons that I can't accurately pinpoint.
It's in stuff like Adventure Time, Infinity train, Disney shows like Star vs, Amphibia, Owl house, Ducktales 2017 or a Netflix show like Centaurworld. Millennial sort of quirky humor?

Which was picked up and adapted into the second series/generation of DC Super Hero Girls which was so much better than the first one. And has a bit of MLP:FiM-vibe, especially the six-girls formula.

mermicorno needs more music. some eqg isnt bad in the right context, hazbin is 2 dark, -- i suspect there are a bunch of niche japanese or or perhaps south korean, etc. cartoons that would be similar but that few have heard about....

...hm, perhaps -- didnt watch much of those but might look into. i like uplifting cartoons with world-building and christed heart consciousness allusions/metaphor the most, i guess -- so, cutiemarks/symbols/gems, magic of friendship/creative force defeats raw power, and a world somewhat detached from everyday life through special terminology (hoofs, mare, pony) or through different species/characters forgetting memories, etc. ...&without a strict good vs. evil plotline
