>>1208484>>1208485I don't think anon's opinions are extreme or weird or any kind of bait. I think someone mentioned a current event and he commented his thoughts on it, which is completely valid. Now we're getting all sorts of reports about him trolling and how much they don't want him in their thread, meanstwhile they're actively talking to the guy. Severe mixed messages here. If you think he's a troll, don't start a conversation with him. If we got CP spam in here, you wouldn't start by telling the spam bot how wrong CP is, you'd just report it.
Apologies if the people reporting anon and the people talking to anon are different people, I didn't actually check. But even then, the general vibe is that people want to talk to this guy, unless we're imagining that all the people talking to him are also trolls and they're in cahoots.

>>1208510you don't think "i would abolish any sort of events like Pride" in a PRIDE thread isn't extreme or weird or bait?
you and i have very different definitions then.
they came into the thread, spread extreme ideas, and are antagonizing others in here, meanwhile ignoring my wish as the thread OP to have them leave my thread
I stopped engaging witht he thread cause I knew they were gonna continue, hoping that things would be settled by now, but i can't help but disagree with your assessment here.

>>1208514Being OP doesn't really give you divine blessing to forbid or otherwise exclude those who wish to post.
This is a public board. If you want that control, I'd suggest just making a Discord group. Then you can kick whoever you like out.

>>1208513It's a fair question.
Why do some people get to rage and insult others with no consquence, when the other party didn't throw out a single insult?
>>1208514Nobody said "i would abolish any sort of events like Pride" I just said they shouldn't be held, especially in public streets where adult activities have absolutely been performed in the presence of minors and non consenting adults.

After discussing the matter with the staff a bit, i've decided to step in directly, and address the issue in the thread.
"Respecting the OP's wishes" has been a foundational policy of moderation on site since the very inception, and getting shoo'd out of one's own thread by deprioritizing the wishes of an OP was one of the reasons this site was founded.
i think, the knife of respect must necessarily cut both ways, and the through-line of respect starts with the OP's wishes, provided the thread itself is rules abiding, which this one is. Though the OP and posters are expected to respect each other, it stands to reason that the posters' respect to the OP should be prioritized in the OP's thread.
i will ask then, our anon to be respectful of the thread creator's intentions for the thread, and to keep the conversation civil. This is a thread for celebration and joy. Let's do our best to keep it that way.

>>1208519thank you for taking a look, and stepping in. I know you are busy and I'd hate to take time out of your day to deal with such a matter
my gripe is still with the substance of what was said in the original anons post, rather than my wishes on the thread in this instance, even though the ruling has been in my favor.
that being said, i do prioritize peace, and i see no further need at this time to complain. I just hope that none of my friends have been too affected by this, and that I hope you take it easy, and if you have any questions or concerns with me, just let me know

You guys should get a karma system.
You could really updoot or down-vote whatever you like or don't and let the adults keep having the discussion.

>>1208521topic is pride celebration, so any conversation that begins to stray too far from that would be considered off-topic, strictly-speaking ...
for example, a post about a negative recent event that happened during pride would generally be acceptable (unless the OP thought it was off-topic), but conversation around it would need to be made with consideration to the purpose of the thread (celebration). this means getting into a deep sociocultural discussion about the negative event would certainly be off-topic and require a new thread ....

>>1208528excellent question, little one
yes, i think ...first criteria to check in regard to rule enforcement is always if the thread is on topic. ...and if not, then does the op mind it being off-topic?
for this thread, if you're not sure if a post is on topic or not, you just check if the op is engaging in that course of discussion or not (of course, they could be afk so we couldn't be sure....) ...looking at this thread, we see introduction of a new sub-topic here:
>>1208391 ...judging by the responses that followed, the topic was of a personal nature. based on this analysis, then,
>>1208434 would have been off-topic for a neurotypical person. indeed, the image is of a guy in the shadows smoking a cigar. ....
OP does not engage the topic further, as it is off-topic.
>>1208465 , OP makes this clear (although they don't say it's off-topic). OP does not respond to
>>1208468would also note that if the op is engaging in the off-topic discussion, then enforcement of rules 1, 2, and 3 are somewhat more hazy to enforce on their own (cultural and personal differences), although ponyville does have a history of lax rule enforcement in this regard .....

>>1208480Put me to a wall? I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just telling my story. Do I have to be a certain kind of approved LGBT person, because I'm just me.
>>1208490 >then you must be either (or perhaps both) a very advanced and unique spiritual being or have another unique psychological trait. >99% of people can't change their sexual orientation at will.I don't think it's really all that hard. I wanted to be gay one moment in my life, and then I decided to be straight. I used to get aroused by the same sex, and now it literally does nothing to me. It's not like I was brain-washed or put through some electro shock therapy, though, I've heard that works for some people. My two cents is that most people just don't really try very hard or feel pressured into staying with what they like at the moment for life. You can change at pretty much at anytime you want.
My expartner took it a little hard at first. They didn't quite understand. They tried convincing me that I was confused or something and that it was impossible to change on a whim. I guess the best way to explain it is that I was just done with that chapter. It just doesn't do anything for me at all anymore. Gotta follow the heart and all. I have a pretty happy life now with my new partner and kids.
