Like, even on youtube nowadays it gets... weird?
Aside from the Gaza charity stuff every 6 minutes, there's also a bunch of ads of random men/women that are just telling their stories on how illness took away their job or whatever and you can go to this link to help them financially.
And with AI these days it's hard to believe anything is genuine anymore online.

IRL I just ignore it unless I happen to have spare change. I'd like to help more but I'm not rich enough. It's a shame.
Online these days I find it really hard to ignore it. It's a constant fucking barrage (at least on BlueSky, where my filtered words list is several pages long). Either things are horrifically bad in America these days, far worse than they've ever been before, or people have forgotten how to take care of themselves. Either way, nothing one girl on autismbucks can solve.

My opinion is that homeless people's lives are shitty enough as is, so if I have cash available I give them a bit and don't give a shit if they spend it on alcohol or whatever else. I spend my money the way I want, why should they have to spend it the way someone else wants? Whether you get your money from a generous person or from a job, you should be able to spend it as you please.
That said, I don't carry cash around very much anymore so I rarely have any actual money to give, so if I do end up doing something for them, it's going to be a material need instead, so it doesn't really matter.

A few people willing to hand out food and cash though.
I find it harder to do nowadays, especiually since I have to use public transport and there are so many beggars out there every single day. I kind of lost my naivity along the way.
