You know it's funny. I've always enjoyed Pinkie Pie the most for her boundless energy, a reflection of my own, and her free spirit and kind heart. And most people who meet me for the first time agree Pinkie is a good fit.

And yet every person who has spent considerable time with me has come to me and said, you're actually a lot more like Rarity. And season 1 I never got it. Melodramatic, panics a lot, obsessed with frivolity, frills, and status. But towards the end of the show's run, I saw it. The kindness, the generosity, the determination and drive, the leadership she displays, creative resourcefulness, and a far more refined and relaxed grace that allows her natural beauty to be displayed and enhanced. She's an artist, with a strong mind and a bleeding heart, and that I can indeed relate to.

I used to absolutely love Rainbow Dash but now it's Pinkie Pie all the way

still don't like Rarity at all.

Rarity definitely had the strongest development throughout the show. She was commonly regarded as worst pony in S1 days but became a solid, likeable character later on. At least that's my memory. I literally haven't watched the show since the finale.
