>I do want to bring caution to the fact that the closure of /townhall/ should not lead to a flood of political threads on /pony/.

>Now it's an interesting voting PSA. Later it will be a video on this or that government policy. Soon we're discussing paedophilia and whatever on this board and calling eachother names and what not.

This is an important point and needs a proper ruling sooner than later. Moderation should not wait on this.

And yet here we are six days later. If nobody else has an opinion I'll post mine.

We should either bring /townhall/ back as a politics containment board that isn't forced anon and permits banning people for explicit and unapologetic bigotry, or ban political threads altogether on the grounds that you can discuss politics in great detail literally everywhere else on the internet at this point and there's nothing to be gained from doing it here specifically.

>ban political threads altogether
I've said that for decades, politics only serve to poison communities. Albeit that's mainly due to one particular sect who can't set such things aside, but, still...
Should've been done ages ago. Probably would've kept this place afloat longer.
'Course there are other problems, but honestly even then, half of those were started from disputes over politics, too...

>and permits banning people for explicit and unapologetic bigotry
Pretty sure this is/was already a thing, but then I suppose it might depend on what you mean by "bigotry". Naturally, some are rather slippery with their usage of such a term, what it covers, and what it doesn't...

Yeah, I don't think bringing back /townhall/ would improve the atmosphere.

I'm willing to give it the push of fairness to not ban political discourse in one direction only.

Only thing I can imagine becoming some issue if people call out random topics as political and fight over whether they should be allowed here or not. Like LGBTQ stuff and all.
Me, I can be lenient, I hope.

If I need to get politically involved, I'll be looking else where.
