>>1167266Society is easily in the darkest place it's been since... I don't know, 9/11, at a guess? Everyone's so scared of Russia that it's almost like a second Cold War, at least in Europe. The US and UK elections are both set to be contested between two men who refuse to do anything to change the deeply unhealthy status quo. Wealth disparity is the worst it's ever been. We just went through a deeply traumatising pandemic the likes of which occur only once a century. And the internet, once a place to which people could escape, now exposes us to real-world drama on a constant basis, just so social media moguls can drive even more profit.
We don't run the world. We can't change it when the people who do won't give us the option. With that in mind, why not just pretend it's a happier time? Delusion can be self-preservation, and a delusion popular enough can become real.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ool4gyrJpM0>>1167269I wouldn't go that far, but I think to an extent millennials, while unhappy, are too entrenched in society to be comfortable rebelling against it. Y'all have to be adults. Zoomers can afford to stay teenagers, at least for a bit longer.
