I'm more terrified of the fact that people with PhD's such as Rupert Sheldrake pursue pseudoscientific endeavors. That's one hell of a biologist.

>>1165010Considering the top search results for "sun conscious" lead to IFL Science and other sites of questionable scientific authority, I think it's probably safe to assume that no, that gigantic ball of plasma is most likely not conscious, just like LaMDA.

>>1165006One guy.
>>1165008>>1165009Honestly upon looking it up this doesn't even seem that bad as far as horror scenarios go.
You still get to be alive, and you still get to be sapient and have a memory. So you're alive and you're still you. You're just, y'know, also goo now.

But also it's essentially creepypasta so whatever's spookier is probably true.

Influential U.S. science fiction author Ross Rocklynne wrote a story about a sentient group of stars from their point of view called 'Into the Darkness' back in 1940 and otherwise was a part of the 'Golden Age' era of writing alongside Isaac Asimov. Rocklynne also did some other, critically praised things. Reading his story alongside stuff by Asimov and other luminaires such as Harry Bates and Fritz Leiber when I was a little kid influenced me a ton growing up.
That piece is hard to find online, but in print there's details here:
