Elaboration:  when power is up for grab, people who desire it will do whatever they can to obtain it, and in the process use things like deception and emotional manipulations and conformity pressures to justify it, which will and always has suppressed rationality.

Perhaps positivity comes from letting those who wish for power to have it.  We just need to live a rational, ethical life as individuals.

That would be a really bad idea. Not everyone who wants power should have power. Not everyone who wants it would use it benevolently, and at that point no one can afford to be apolitical.

The important thing is good people respect authority, obey the law but do not presume to know the law unless they are lawyers, and they don't complain or cause trouble.  It won't matter how anybody came to power once they are in power.  Nobody who is an authority owes you anything.

Still, your core result is probably apt.
Caring about politics won't change anything, as ultimately, we have very little power.
Better to focus on your own life, and improve that.

It is their right, I suppose.

I think so.  We might allow response to imminent threats to ourselves and we might allow boundaries when it comes to how we are treated.  But going beyond that will be seen as activism.

Thus, politics is a self-defense burden that many carry. You're political because you don't have a choice. Otherwise, other people will use politics against you. It's frankly not that much different than owning an AR-15 and training with that even if you dislike firearms given the neighborhood you live in. Your weapon is there because others have weapons that could harm you otherwise.

That's life.

As a general rule as much as you can, yes, don't be political.
