How often do you eat something that's a 'do not eat', drink something that's a 'do not drink', touch something that's a 'do not touch', and so on in your life?

I eat raw cookie dough all the time.

I know there's science and stuff behind it, but sometimes I wonder how people can mix up raw egg sauces and not die of escherichia coli all of the time.

You do that often?

I'm trying to improve my diet right now, so I've restricted what I can eat during lunch.

I would really love a burger or a funnel cake, but I have to remain vigilant

What a weird question. I only respect rules that I have a reason to respect.

Why, do you want to point me to something that's marked "do not consume" that you have a good pitch for me to consume?

Homemade or uh, prepackaged? Because I'm pretty sure you're not alone.

Hell they made "raw cookie dough" an official flaour: https://www.cookingclassy.com/edible-cookie-dough/

"Burger", as in the whole sandwich, or just the beef bit. Because there's a lot that can be done with beef that's not burgers.

Idk about funnel cakes. You could go for a regular cake I guess!

If microplastics are a concern, well... idk, macroplastics might be a bit much

I don't normally respect such rules unless the reason I should not eat, drink or touch is because it belongs to another person and I don't have consent or permission, or it would be dangerous to do so.

In the states, when people say burger, it implies the whole sandwich with buns. Don't think I've had it without bun

Funnel cakes are an amusement park classic! Basically fried dough with powder sugar! Don't think we sell cakes at the north pole

Yeah well I'm sure you've heard of burgers being served Rare, and the Rarer the beef, the harder it being classed as The Proper Way To Have It. Well... what if I told you, you could have all the rare, with none of the burger faff. And out-rareing all the rare snobs.

Steak tartare. It's so good.

As for funnel cakes, there's some hipster places that try to sell them but I've never seen the appeal. But if you're looking for something that's not a funnel cake, a yeast based cake will be mostly air (zero cal, see) yet be cake!

That's understandable. I should eat less in terms of total volume, but it's quite a difficult ask given my current life circumstances. In the plus side, trying to get more and more steps in while walking around each day is a realistic goal that I'm focusing on personally.

I don't.

Not really, no. I don't really self-criticize. I self-reflect, but that's different.

I do eat a lot of junk and candy, I have to admit.

Incredibly frequently, yeah.  Probably eat a tube or two a month, really.

I have no idea how any of the science works, but I'm not particularly ill, so there's that.

Both, I suppose, but usually I just buy it packaged.

Therefore you eat things labeled 'do not eat' such as silica gel?

I wonder about this since such a great many people online who've been otherwise skeptical about scientific labels, such as you, have eaten it and nothing negative seems to have happened to any of them.

Like does it even have the same earthy, sweet, and all around positive taste that raw milk or other libertarian foodstuffs usually has? What about eating wild honey? Wild berries?

You will pay the Chef's tax.
It is law.

I don't eat, drink, or touch things that have clearly labeling not too.
I have a hard enough time keeping other people out of my product.

But again, you will pay the Chef's tax.

Silica gel was literally brought up in the thread. Most of these rules are there for a good reason. No way it's good for you, especially since while it appears inert by itself apparently it can sometimes also be coated in actual poison in those packets. The other stuff you listed is at least food, though consuming raw milk in particular seems kinda daft if you don't have a very specific use for it in mind. It's the perfect growth medium for all sorts of nasty things that can mess you up, and it comes from cow udders which very well might have had contact with cow poop because of their location. Wild honey, never had it, but that's just honey right? Bee made liquid sugar? Not much point in seeking it out, but it'll be fine, unless you're in an area with a lot of rhododendrons or something in which case it'll mess you up too. As for wild berries, they're just berries. The risk with them is that someone who doesn't know what they're doing picked them, and so there's poisonous ones in the mix. It's like the popular local activity over here, foraging for wild mushrooms - pick only the ones you are sure of, and then it'll be all good.

Anyway, my actual bucking the labels mostly happens with me being fine with eating slightly out of date things that are actually still perfectly fine, and tossing them would be pointless food waste.

Silica gel says "do not eat" because it gets packaged with food but it is not food. It isn't a warning, but advice. Like how eating the wrapper of the gum won't kill you, but it isn't part of the intended gum eating experience.

Silica gel packets are a gram of dirt. You shouldn't eat it but nobody is going to stop you. We will just quietly judge you.

I never contemplated what the "Don't Touch" switch in Shadow of the Beast did, so I flicked it anyway.

You'd eat them, right, /pony/?

File: 1716725518207.png (340.61 KB, 768x512, 3:2, 7.png) ImgOps Google

Sure, yeah. I wouldn't order it myself, but if someone was offering.

Yeah, I feel like I'd give them a shot.

To be brutally honest, though, if I could express myself fully in the biological sense, then I wouldn't be a carnivore or omnivore with a hardwired biological need to eat any sort of meat at all. Would be nice to not have to do that. Maybe someday.

File: 1716734134308.jpg (25.98 KB, 287x287, 1:1, Tech.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

If I could express myself fully in a material sense I'd have cut out the need to do anything except inject a bionutritional slurry into an access port to fuel my few remaining biological components I couldn't adequately Ship of Theseus off myself.
