Well for most of the world, the summer time is over and education is starting to creep back into our lives again.

Whether going back to school, entering college, or maybe just learning how to cook for yourself in your 30s it's never a bad time to start learning. Expanding your mind and your skills can show you things you may never know about.

So let's pick up a book, and a nice cup of what beverage gets us in the brainy mood and talk about anything and everything on our minds.

Well canonical she's into rough stuff

In deltarune chapter 1, when you come back to the normal world, you can talk to her. She'll ask you about Susie

You can tell her that "Susie is mean" and "she slammed me in a locker"

To which noelle says "God I wish that were me..."

MSI. GE76 11UH-010NL specifically. The only step away from perfection in this thing is that the refresh rate could have been better, but 120Hz is still almost twice what I have on my current one.

>>1149810

Unfortunately it's got only one empty NVME slot, and it's gen3 to boot. Ah well, at least that means I can go cheap on the drive and not lose any throughput - and also that once I slap this inside, that's it, I'm done with upgrades. Except maybe for the screen, but that's probably far in the future and only if it breaks or something.

 No.1149814

>>1149812

You can always just turn on heavy scaling in Windows I think, so it's not like everything will be small in regulra use - not to mention the fact that if it turns out it's Just Too Much you can just set the resolution to 1920x1080 and there won't be any distortion because of a whole number being the factor between it and 3840x2160. Obviously there's no such option in the other direction. Anyway, 1920x1080 is usually good enough but then sometimes if you want to see things in close detail it's nice to have the extra pixels.

Wait, ultra-wide but 4k? How does that work? 2160 lines, but more columns? Also, why not just get two monitors instead of going ultra-wide?

>>1149813

Have they? Huh. If people are synchronized like that, perhaps there's some external factor. The pandemic driving up demand for clunkers that people are now getting tired of, perhaps?

I like my 2 monitors + laptop screen setup, though I use that for work mostly. It just seems like it's easier to organize things when there's a distinct hard break between these work areas, and if I personally wanted more space it would be vertical rather than horizontal. Still, hey, having just looked into 4k ultrawides I now realize they're not as wide as I imagined, so there's always the option to have two of those.

Well that's good to hear. Hopefully this will be a little "scared straight" moment at worst.

I haven't really had one. I haven't had to go Be admitted at a hospital myself ever. Last time I was in a hospital at all, it was as an extra in a TV show episode.

Before that it would have been my eye operation like, seven or so years ago when I got a crosslink.

was that like, under full sedation or one of those creepy fully awake local sedative eye surgeries?

Fully awake.

Which was extra terrifying cause I already fucking hate everything about one's eye being exposed or hurt.

So there I laid, 26 or so years old, basically crying and holding a nurse's hand the entire fucking time with some Clockwork Orange-ass nightmare instrument jammed in my eyesocket as they scrape at my cornea.

Fucking horrible.

Well, it's that and the lack of native chiral scrolling on the new laptop. But I think there's some software to simulate it, so I'll be trying that. Otherwise yeah, it seems to be the one major loss of the transfer I encountered thus far. There might still be more down the line as I'm not yet done. One big annoyance - for some reason the SteelSeries software doesn't see the keyboard, so I can't mess with the RGB settings. I like it lit up, but I'd rather it weren't doing a "moving wave of color" thing. It's visually nice, but distracting. This might be solveable by either updating or rolling back the software, it's hard to tell at this point. At least it sees the Aurora, so I was able to change the settings for that.

Sort-of!

Me and my friend recently got into 10Er (essentially danish Patreon) for our X-Files Podcast.

We promised we would do a Halloween special if we got a certain amount of supporters, and we did. So now we're gonna cover the first two movies in the Kolchak franchise.

Short story, it was a pair of TV movies in the 70ies based on a novel, about a reporter who gets involved in serial killings performed by a vampire in Las Vegas. The two movies got popular enough that it became a short-lived 20 episode TV series that became a cult hit, and has been directly referred to as a major X-Files inspiration.

So we're covering those first two movies and saving the series itself for another time.

Watching the second movie right now. They're very entertaining.

Of course, I was also drawing and editing Spooky Month stuff earlier today, so it is a very spooky day altogether

>>1150449
It is, if you remember its from the 70ies and enjoy that style.

Some of it looks corny now, but Kolchak is a very fun character, and it occasionally gets pretty legit spooky. The vampire in the first movie is about as classical a vampire as you can get away with putting in a modern setting, and this second movie features a killer returning every 21 years to harvest blood for a life extending elixir.

I reaaaaally wanna watch the show, cause some of the episode summaries sound completely bonkers in the coolest way.

Sorry, taking a lot of notes here.

It's a Season 6 episode of X-Files. Mulder and Scully go undercover as a newlywed couple in a slightly-too-idyllic planned community where it seems people go missing if they fail to comply with the ridiculously strict HOA regulations.
