...what are you making for your thanksgiving? c:

or, if not American... what will you make for a Holiday meal?

let us become autumnal, together.

File: 1668470771758.jpg (148.12 KB, 630x346, 315:173, I will pluck and cook you.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

I was about to say that since I actually do cook more "real" food recently, I should probably try and do something with Turkey for thanksgiving...

And then I remembered thursdays are when I host my workshop and I won't be home till 09:30 PM anyway. So I'd have to make something way before i leave for work and heat it when I get home.

Maybe I'll just eat some chicken and pretend.

File: 1668470822056.png (168.85 KB, 335x347, 335:347, Filly Flutterjoy.png) ImgOps Google

maybe you can make a turkey, but make it Wednesday!

Ugh fiiine, you and your sensible solutions-

But yeah, I might. Turkey just tends to be a tiny bit expensive, especially for one person.

But I'll look into it.

File: 1668471132512.png (38.81 KB, 170x189, 170:189, Thinking Fluttershy.png) ImgOps Google

perhaps you can get, a smaller other kind of bird, like a pheasant or partridge?

>Pheasant or partridge
>At small town grocery stores
>On welfare
Yyyyeah no

File: 1668471665728.png (535.22 KB, 1280x720, 16:9, hue hue hue.png) ImgOps Google

A turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Same as last year.

Same procedure as every year, James.

File: 1668471884055.png (1.06 MB, 1718x1744, 859:872, 475836783.png) ImgOps Google

White wine with the fish.

But for real, I probably should look up some easy-ish dish I can make.

File: 1668472270761.png (112.15 KB, 536x301, 536:301, Bar46.png) ImgOps Google

Thinking either Ribeye or Turkey.

God help me.

God help all the cooks.

We have a massive menu on the property for Thanksgiving.

The meal I will eat when I get home will be a bottle of rum.

File: 1668473512149.png (109.72 KB, 291x336, 97:112, Bar91.png) ImgOps Google

Good rum, I hope.

File: 1668473764029.jpg (186.04 KB, 1280x989, 1280:989, tumblr_pullqsRjXh1txxou1o1….jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

50 birds.

Not as good as I will need but I will have that Friday off to work out the stress.

File: 1668473892816.png (307.62 KB, 787x641, 787:641, eh heheh.png) ImgOps Google

perhaps you can negotiate with a local hunter, to acquire a reasonable game bird?

i think birds are so cute :c

aw, that is fun, bella! do you bake your own turkey?

gosh... i think ribeye would be really neat for Thanksgiving, especially with lots of horseradish!!

may your cooking be blessed, dawn friend <3

you will work hard... but earn reward.

what is your rum of choice, dear friend?

i wish i knew ... this stuff. i got a friend a bottle of... kraken once. it had a nice octopus on it, which means its good... i think.

Time to de-stress by heading out for Black Friday shopping!
I kid, of course, you should hoard up like it's a zombie movie.

I DO however, plan to order some last christmas presents then.

Okay, the town is not THAT small.

Birds are very cute, yes

File: 1668474230523.gif (233.27 KB, 600x899, 600:899, 835467943.gif) ImgOps Google

I originally took advice from some friends and proceeded to do it on my own every year. I always enjoy how it turns out. Delish.

File: 1668474489685.png (188.39 KB, 415x530, 83:106, Bar69.png) ImgOps Google

Wew. So over 150 hours of baking, and that's not including prep at all.

I recommend Kraken and a mixer if possible.

No horseradish.

Just meat, and a scotch.

File: 1668474525060.png (157.54 KB, 435x360, 29:24, you are a wonderful pony.png) ImgOps Google

awww, that is so wonderful <3 maybe you can also make some potatoes with it!!

hm, perhaps you can bake a rutabaga?

File: 1668474643183.jpg (50.78 KB, 415x946, 415:946, you have got to be squiddi….jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

oh!! oh!! oh oh!! Kraken is the one i got for a friend!! that's the octopus one!

that's a good one right? nothing with an octopus could be bad, right?

for the ribeye, the local steakhouses that focus on ribeye always serve it with a lot of horseradish to add. like, old homestead! it has been in NYC since 1868! maybe if you visit, tracer, i will take you to try steak and you can tell me if it is good for you

My reward is my paycheck/

I am basic and just have a Bacardi

It is so much.

All ovens on deck moment.

File: 1668475148151.png (62.25 KB, 219x305, 219:305, Bar61.png) ImgOps Google

Kraken is a dark spiced rum notably flavored with hints of chocolate and cinnamon. Many refer to it as a "Christmas" rum because of the flavors but I think it can be enjoyed anytime. It's best feature is that despite it being at 94 proof it's much smoother than it's more expensive competitors. Mixed with Coke or Dr. Pepper brings out the chocolate flavors even more intensely and makes a very delicious drink. It's very dangerous with how smooth it is however, as you can get inebriated quite quickly.

If you'd like. I'd still prefer something simple and done right. Like Katz deli or Joe's Pizza.

I'll get you a bottle of Kraken. Then you can get blasted with something that doesn't hurt.

>All ovens on deck
I believe it. Also not mentioned are all the sides and accoutrement.

File: 1668475323159.png (298.48 KB, 563x602, 563:602, happy shy 6.png) ImgOps Google

ohhhh... katz... you would like that very much, i think

it is also, meat. lots of meat c: and mustard!

poor dawn friend :c you are not basic!! and you work so hard.

maybe you can also cook, yourself, a pheasant!!

File: 1668475401737.png (247.46 KB, 460x589, 460:589, Bar88.png) ImgOps Google

No mustard. No horseradish. Meat.

I'll figure it out, Moon.

It sounds like so much. All the best.

God I forgot about Thanksgiving.

I need to call my sister to figure out if she wants to do something for Thanksgiving.

Lookit Duolingo owl there

Just like "Thank God I am not a turkey"

File: 1668476094033.png (203.19 KB, 600x450, 4:3, derpy shy 3.png) ImgOps Google

brisket! well, okay c: brisket is okay without mustard... but will it not all be... a little fatty? a little salty? will you not desire... some acid or something, to cut through that strong salt and fat taste of the meat?

maybe you can... make... potato. and popcorn. and add... cheese. and...  yeast.

<3 oh andrea, that... is the saddest duolingo i have ever seen

maybe... a nice thanksgiving trip will be good, dear friend. turkey and family c:

File: 1668476190641.png (76.72 KB, 309x265, 309:265, Bar70.png) ImgOps Google

Fat is where the flavor is. Salt magnifies it. Meat is delicious.

Eh, I think I found one or two nice recipes now. These should be fine. And i can just buy a bit extra of some of the ingredients to make another dish afterwards.

>turkey and family c:

Maybe, but it's been kinda hard to coordinate since both my siblings have irregular schedules and my mother isn't around anymore to really coordinate it so ...

File: 1668476490132.jpeg (140.68 KB, 731x1024, 731:1024, And if i wake before i di….jpeg) ImgOps Google

but what about... balance?

is one of the recipes a potato? c:

it is understandable :c it will be confusing to coordinate

but perhaps, still good, even if irregular. still... healing, yes? good for the soul.

File: 1668476606914.png (105.27 KB, 287x498, 287:498, Bar3.png) ImgOps Google

I'll use both hands.

Yeah, I will probably get some turkey breast, cut some slices in it and add red onion, tomato and mozarella, and make some potato/broccoli/carrot sides. I can get a couple servings out of this for relatively little, and use the exdtra carrots and potatoes for another dish I like to make.

File: 1668478602646.png (157.54 KB, 435x360, 29:24, you are a wonderful pony.png) ImgOps Google

...funny tracer c: okay...

i will remember, no accoutrements. only meat, for you.

awww... that is pretty good too! will you also make, stuffing, esher?

File: 1668478792147.png (67.59 KB, 197x297, 197:297, Bar67.png) ImgOps Google

Accoutrements are fine. Home fries, salad, drinks, etc.
I just don't find most condiments all that great.

File: 1668479249607.png (203.19 KB, 600x450, 4:3, derpy shy 3.png) ImgOps Google

hm... peter luger is well known for a very harsh salad of raw beefsteak tomato, eye-wateringly pungent onion, and their house steak sauce.

and, their creamed spinach. and german fried potatoes.

do you like creamed spinach, tracer?

File: 1668479332551.png (301.61 KB, 491x671, 491:671, Bar83.png) ImgOps Google

File: 1668479969931.png (67.39 KB, 216x275, 216:275, Bar81.png) ImgOps Google

With venison? No I'd probably make some garlic bread and a side salad.

My turkey always ends up greasy on the outside and bone-dry on the inside

I believe that I'll be working, but I haven't had tabouli and couscous since I was a child. That would be nice to have.

File: 1668482427331.png (282.97 KB, 526x353, 526:353, Shy Fluttersmile.png) ImgOps Google

ohhhh, we can have couscous, wheatles!! hand-rolled couscous is hard to beat c:

you are so funny, tracer <3 c:

oh... i wonder why that is, rainbow? have you researched it?

For starters, a lack of marinade.

It is going to be something.

At least I get to take some of the leftovers home.

Honestly, I want some green beans.
They are blanched for 30 seconds to take the edge off and then sauteed with garlic and shallots, A splash of white wine, and then butter to form a sauce.

I have some beets that I plan on roasting and eating with goat cheese.
I need to be a bit kinder to myself. I found out that I am having issues digesting red meat, and meat in general so I am busting out my vegan books.

I am so stressed out and I am the one cook that doesn't smoke.

I love you too.

File: 1668738802661.png (247.46 KB, 460x589, 460:589, Bar88.png) ImgOps Google

Sure, I don't mind.

I'd help if I could. Barring I know they wouldn't allow outside help.

Solid green beans. The quality of the butter would be key. I use Kerrygold usually.

Oh no, guess you gotta give the red meats to Wheat and I.

Should get a massage.

File: 1668738918061.png (116.63 KB, 360x409, 360:409, Rarity flutterhug.png) ImgOps Google

be not afraid, dawn friend. you can do it!!

i am excited c:

...i wanted to make something big for my family, but they tell me, i should not use the burners, because others will need them.

i might make... curry on the night before, so it does not bother anyone. and it can easily be heated, and hopefully nobody will be upset. it is very simple, pleasing food, yes? i think so... maybe it will be good.

We did a mini thanksgiving today

File: 1668739015863.png (188.39 KB, 415x530, 83:106, Bar69.png) ImgOps Google

oh no... i cannot. i will make a good curry though! it is a recipe i am proud of c:

what did you eat, wheatles? no big thanksgiving, because so busy?

File: 1668739367532.png (92.16 KB, 282x349, 282:349, Bar78.png) ImgOps Google

Why not?

It will be fine, just means the next few days are gonna be prep-heavy.
I caught my chef smoking so it tells me it is gonna be a real mess.

Kerrygold is good I use president. For making clarified I just get the cheap stuff as I am going to get rid of the solid and flavor it with herbs.

Truly you and he win no matter what while I am around. Guess I'm lucky for you both.

Thank you little moon.

I really don't get how your family expects you to cook without burners.

Curry is always a treat.

If your family is still gonna insists on you not using them then I would recommend getting a plug-in induction or a camp burner.

And I agree with Tracer, you should cook what you like.

Hopefully, I will be off next year and I can make something.

File: 1668739548209.png (77.21 KB, 224x404, 56:101, Bar2.png) ImgOps Google

Uh-oh. I'll have a cigar in your honor then the week of.

Very fair. Don't need the good stuff for everything.

Hopefully you two can do something together for Christmas.

Very small without dad

If it is a means to an end then I can doctor it with spices and herbs, if it is an end I better just pay the extra dollar.

Thank you.

I have a bottle of Pinot Gris from Erath and a few blends from Apothic because they are a very good price/taste ratio. I should get a sparkling while I am out tomorrow. I adore good sparkling.

I use kosher salt for most things, but I keep some finishing salts on hand when I want to be extra fancy.

I gifted the last of my Fluer de Sel to a coworker.

I am going to become a stared chef just so I can build you a kitchen you can do anything you want in.

They certainly go down a bit faster too.

Hoh, I've only ever used that flaky salt for some deserts. Kosher is best for multi use.

Oh Dawn, always spoiling those around you.

i have a secret, funny dream

it's called Moony's Fermentorium c:

it will look like a little mad scientist apothecary lab inside of a tree

and we will sell, all kinds of the best fermenty stuff ever

aged tofu, and kombuchas, and all kinds mushrooms.

Beer, wine, and liquor are fermented too. You got those too?

I wanted to make something, but I don't know what to make :<

I was thinking, maybe a fruity cake. Not a fruitcake, but like, a vanilla cake with real fruit mixed into the batter!

Raspberries, blackberries, sweet yellow cherries perhaps~ Ooh, and maybe some chopped pecans to give it a nice crunchy texture :coco1:

File: 1668968137907.png (169.49 KB, 959x833, 137:119, covered in cake.png) ImgOps Google

Hey, Moony

My mother told me today that New York's been crazy snowed in.
Is this true?

Is it bad?

File: 1668973931753.jpg (5.46 MB, 3492x1960, 873:490, Winter cottage.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

oh! New York City has not received any snow at all... but Buffalo, where buffalo wings come from... is buried in snow

over 1.8 meters, if you can imagine. some houses were snowed in so much it reached the second floor!

File: 1668974082001.png (309.95 KB, 446x430, 223:215, so that's going on.png) ImgOps Google

Gosh, that's still pretty close.

She showed me a picture of a frozen, well, buffalo.

What's the prediction for NY?

File: 1668983858910.png (867.4 KB, 2000x1400, 10:7, Winter fluttershy 2.png) ImgOps Google

it is closeish c: Buffalo is still in New York! But it is about the distance from Aachen to London -- far enough that the state often doesn't have the same weather in place to place

NYC is not expected to receive any snow!

it is cold though... gosh i am so cold

it is -3 here, in nyc :c

>Decides to actually maybe make SOMETHING Turkey based this week
>Literally no shop in town sells Turkey
>Would have to go to actual butcher which costs WAY more

Welp, guess I am making chicken and pretending

Hmm the next holiday chomp is Xmas.
No idea what we'll eat then yet.

what about a game bird, like a grouse or partidge, esher?

can you walk into the forest to ask for a bird?

if i were you, maybe i would like to make mushrooms for Thanksgiving! wild mushrooms, from the forest c:

will you have broccoli?

File: 1669165109660.png (248.33 KB, 506x574, 253:287, Capture _2021-12-08-22-08-….png) ImgOps Google

Chicken is way better anyways. Turkey is like, the worst bird to eat, i swear to god.

Yep. And potatoes and carrots.
Which I can all use for the next dish after that, so money saved.

Turkey CAN be very good, but it's not the easiest. Last I tried turned out alright.
