Let's talk about games.

Video games, Role playing games, stuff like that.

I've been running an RP forum for almost 9 years. It's kind of astounding how far we've come and how the fandom it's based in has changed in that time. It's gotten much more progressive and accepting, mostly by recognizing the books have aged poorly and fans can do better.

I've also been super into Hollow Knight. It's such a perfect game, even if I had a lot of trouble with it at first. It took a while to really get into the groove but once I got there, I was just immersed in the world, the art style, the music, the story, all of it.

well i am an absolute fan of Undertale and Deltarune, and given that i avatar as a character from Deltarune consantly should be a bit of a hint

i am obsessed with the souls series, and poured a ton of time into Elden Ring and loved every minute of it <3

recently i've been playing FFXIII and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves! It's been perfect for scratching my Indiana Jones itch ^^

Been playing some different stuff recently, and also bought a bunch on sale.

I am doing a casual replay of Dragon Quest IX cause I love that stuff, for one.

Most recently, I bought Evil Within, The Megaman Zero / ZX collection and The Mortuary Assistant, the latter of which I streamed. A very cool and interesting indie horror game that I need to get some more endings in.

Also, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was one of the free PS Plus titles this month, so excited to finally try some of that.

Uncharted 2 is a hella good time, yeah

it's so much fun! and Nathan Drake is always the loveable rogue type!

ooh i never played any of the Yakuza Games! i should download Like a Dragon and get a taste!

Those all sound like good burnout recovery games.

I haven't gotten to Elden Ring yet, but I have poured so much into Bloodborne. I love that game a lot.

Yakuza is SUCH a great series. It's equal parts goofy and really emotional. I love it a lot.

bloodborne is like one of the greatest games ever! so good choice ^^

and i think you'll love Elden Ring too when you get around to it! like a true souls game, it will consume your soul and you will enjoy every moment of it as you rage ^^

All of then a Good time. I played 1 through 4

Yeah do it. Brav is a big fan, so that's a big reason K wanna try.

That's Wwhat I hear.

she asked what it was and i just replied " uhm. think like a male tombraider?"

and the yakuza game is crazy and wild!

Oh Hollow Knight is excellent. I can't wait for Silksong. I can't really find the time to play video games nowadays, but when that drops I will MAKE the time.

Otherwise the last game I properly played was the Return of the Obra Dinn. It's... not much of a game, really. Almost-but-not-quite a walking sim with a large puzzle to frame it. But it's absurdly good. The atmosphere is great, the weird graphics just work and allow for some proper complex
(and at times gory enough that it's probably a good thing there's no color) scenes, and the puzzle is actually very nice. The small scale makes it a nicely focused experience, too.

Not the worst description.

truth to be told.. that´s all i know bout it >:<

Ooh Hollow Knight is fantastic. It has so many delicious little morsels tucked away that you can nibble on while you digest the greater affairs, and it all fits together so perfectly.

Just thinking about it makes me so very hungry for even more...

Oh yeah I remembered one other game I played through properly recently. Desperados 3. I loved Desperados 1 back in the day. Wasn't a fan of 2. Then suddenly some randos called Mimimi came out of nowhere with 3 and wow they know what they were doing. It does have some things I wasn't fully onboard with, like I wasn't 100% a fan of the inclusion of actual magic on one character, but I get why it was done (the two magic skills on her do make for some fun tactical options which would be hard to justify otherwise) and I'm kinda okay with that reason so I'll let it pass. Also the overall big picture story plays it a bit safe, but it's perfectly serviceable and it makes sense to go this route as it's going to be the first such game for many. And the enemy variety could be a bit greater (it's still WAY greater than in the original). Otherwise the game is basically a perfect entry for the series. The individual scenarios are fun and varied, the voice acting is great (I especially LOVED how it actually changed mission-to-mission and sometimes situation-to-situation, rather than having just stock character responses to commands), the visuals are very nice, and the whole thing is just fun as you basically tactical-puzzle your way through this huge variety of situations with different combinations of characters and skills that are available to you. There's just so much content packed into the game, too.

The genre might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this game is good enough that everyone would do well to give it a try.

I've been talked into playing WoW again by some friends, and I'm actually having a fair amount of fun with it.

I've got a semi-weekly Pathfinder 2 campaign on Mondays where I am playing Nyx, a small kobold who aspires to be a dragon queen.  On Thursdays we just had a session zero for the Power Rangers RPG, something I've been looking forward to since it came out back in February or so.

Also I've been playing a fair amount of Warhammer 40k lately, a brand new Chaos Space Marines codex came out in July that's been a whole lot of fun stuff.

If the new Pokémon is going to be a more open world affair, I'm curious if there will be sidequests peppered throughout. The series has rarely done sidequests beyond a late-game legendary or two, so I'm curious what it might look like as more of a traditional rpg, and what the rewards could even be. What would be suitable, less than a legendary?

I've been playing Escape From Tarkov, mostly, or I've been playing through my Nuzlockes.

I finally beat Red in Soul Silver after grinding up my Kanto and Sinnoh "Immortals" and finally moved on to Black. After the crazy grind, it's nice to play through a fresh Pokemon game, I haven't played the original Black since it first came out and I've enjoyed the selection of Pokemon in it more now than I did.

On August 1st, 2018. A new game came out on Steam called Yakuza 0. I gave it a try. I LOVED it. Yakuza was originally a PlayStation exclusive, but now it has gotten remasters for PC. Now every August, I dedicate myself to playing the next title in the series.

Hollow Knight is fully amazing, i've clocked over 200 hours on it. Beating the Pantheon of Hallownest is one of the worst things i've ever done to myself in my entire life. I even thought about learning to speedrun it but so far I haven't bothered, seems a daunting task.

Been playing Tales of Berseria on and off but I am really bad at sitting down and focusing for hours sometimes. It's pretty good tho. At the moment i'm waiting to buy the remakes of Klonoa they just put out, but the shit's expensive.

Good! As it should.

I am so excited for Silksong. Everything looks great and I just can't wait to get in and explore everything as Hornet.

Obra Dinn is super neat! It's very focused and is really such a nice little story. Super cool, I love Lovecraftian Ocean Horror like that.

Go away broodmother!

TTRPGs are so good! I'm running a DnD game myself, and am playing in one that's been running for about 3 years now.

If you ever wanna play a dragonrider hit me up, I got a forum for that /shill

I unfortunately don't care too much about mainline Pokemon games these days. The last one I played was Moon, and it was so underwhelming. I loved Legends Arceus though, I would love more games like that.

Neat! I find myself dipping into Pokemon Showdown when I feel the itch. Mostly waiting for Palworld to come out.

The Yakoozie games are FANTASTIC. They're really just great, solid games that are the perfect mix of goofy and serious. I like Majima a lot, and Ichiban in Like A Dragon is super good.

I'm very bad at the Pantheons but I'm trying my best. It's so satisfying though, the combat and exploration just feels so good.

Bought and played the entire Uncharted series around 2017 and played them in 2018 myself.

I think they're decent games.
I wanted to rekindle my time with Tomb Raider Legends- with the whole explore old temples and solve puzzles while climbing and doing death defying stunts.

To be fair, I think uncharted has a bit too much shooting action going on, felt kind of like those arcade style rail shooters with climbing elements attached.
Still, pretty cool games.

Oh, I got myself a lot of tomb Raider Games at the Steam sale. they were like 1 euro each, so come on.
I finished Tomb raider Anniversary last month. decently fun title and tied up the time I spent at my neighbour watching him play Tomb Raider the original game.
There was a frustratingly hard part in it, though. But yeah, it's exactly the type of game I was looking forward to in Uncharted.
I did start Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3 and I'll be honest, those have a downside for my desire of a more modern experience. Plus they look pretty buggy in the Steam versions.

As for my current activities...

Well, I spent last week going back to Realm of the Mad God on Steam.

It's free it's kind of like an MMORPG with Bullet hell + roguelike elements.
Shame I play it on my own.
Took it up in my Ponychan days. Then left it dormant for a long while.
Now I went back and unlocked all the character classes. I don't think I can solo any of the real challenges, though. As those bosses can kill you quick and I barely get a scratch at them with my current character capabilities.
It's probably a lot of grinding or spending actual cash on my game before I can really take on the actual challenges.

Oh and I got my daughter Just Shapes and Beats in June and she did it a lot better than I feared for.
Eventually it's an aesthetically pleasing game on visuals and on OST.
It may be something I will be partaking in from now on as well.

At least, thanks to her, now a few of the songs are stuck in my head as well.

I'm well past ready to play the thing and I'm tired of the delays but hopefully they mean the game will be one of those When It's Done™ things with proper shine and polish.

Oh yeah there's two more games I've recently put on top of my backlog, since I'm going to have some free time. Disco Elysium and Rain World. The former in particular seems like it would really benefit from the ability to give it some proper attention, but the latter is sorta intriguing and it seems to be making some of those "Indie Games You Should Play" lists lately. And since I happen to have it anyway because Humble Bundle, I guess slugcatting around a desolate and ruined yet eerily pretty if deadly open world is in the cards for me in the nearby future.

With how solid Hollow Knight was, I'm more than happy letting Team Cherry just take all the time they need.

Disco is FANTASTIC. It is such an incredible game, I can't praise it enough. Kim is the best sidekick. I ended up basing all of my decisions around if it would make him upset.

Oh! I've seen people play that. It's not my thing but it looked like people were having fun.

File: 1659811386829.png (251.66 KB, 446x430, 223:215, huh 5.png) ImgOps Google

Just shapes and beats?
Or Realm of the Mad God.

Yeah, I mean... "Happy" isn't the word I'd use since I want to play it NOW, but it does have my endorsement as a wise course of action.

Well then, I look forward to seeing him in action. So far all I know of the game is the praises it gets, and also this one encounter with sitting in a mental health draining chair which youtube served me up.

Oh yeah, any comment on Desperados? You kinda skipped over that one: >>1122920

Oop, Realm of the Mad God. Should have clarified.

Man I am missing things left and right today. I don't know much about Desperados but it sounds interesting!

Take your time!

Did you ever know about Just Shapes and Beats?

Because I found that fandom is also a rabbit hole.

Undertale levels of fanart / Alternate Universes and the whole shebang.

It's goooood. It's a game from what's basically a dead genre, but it's just so very good. A strong "recommended" from me. It might not be everyone's cup of tea (imagine a game which strongly insists you quicksave/quickload often), but definitely worth a try.

File: 1659819851073.png (13.95 KB, 145x174, 5:6, The_Knight_Shade.png) ImgOps Google

That sounds wild. I'm definitely going to have to look into it.

It looks really neat! I'm gonna have to give it a go when I have time.

I've been playing the Frost mod of Fallout 4 the last couple days. Pretty fun.

Also played the Stardew Valley Extended mod for a bit a week ago. Also a good mod. It adds SO much to the game, it's really awesome.

Rune Factory 5 came out and I played a bit of it, it's SO good. Best Rune Factory game yet, in my opinion. Lots of great quality of life improvements.

Also started playing a game called Blue Reflection. It's a magical girl RPG. It's set in an all girls school and the basic premise is that the magical girls go into the collection subconscious of humanity to fight off demons that attack people when they are experiencing emotions strongly, which makes them vulnerable to attack.

I also tried out Digimon Survive for a bit. It's an interesting game, but because it's so heavy on the Visual Novel aspect of things it's difficult for me to get very involved in it for long periods of time without getting tired of it.

Speaking of visual novels, I also started AI: The Somnium Files and as far as VNs go it's a LOT more interesting than others I've played so far. I've only played like an hour or so of it, but it's been really good so far.

aaaand I think that's everything game related I've been up to for the past couple weeks.

File: 1659934210657.jpg (295.55 KB, 1280x1019, 1280:1019, Tell me all about it.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

Showdown honestly seems like the way to play multiplayer Pokemon these days. I really wish they'd bring back Mega Evolutions to the main games, even if locked in the post-game like they were in Sun and Moon. Palworld seems interesting but I'm not sure if I'd get it. I've so moved into tabletop games that's where I like to spend most of my game money.

As for my current playthrough in Black, it's been pretty brutal. I've gotten five badges so far, and five casualties. In all my other Nuzlockes I've been able to avoid them but no. It makes my naming theme... appropriate.

So far, Jill the Woobat, Corkus the Patrat, Pippin the Herdier, Rosine the Whirlipede, and Azan the Krokarok have died on the path to immortality.

Guts the Dewott, Rickert the Gurdurr, Casca the Zebstrika, Morda the Zoroark, and Isidro the Darmanitan now have to push on with the memory of the friends they couldn't save on their conscience.
