i have not been here in...quite a while
so instead of making a generic "hi im back" thread, tell me about what anime/manga/japanese games you have been consuming if you are an enjoyer of such things!
currently i am...
playing kemono friends 3 (cute animal girl gacha);
watching waccha primagi (a kids idol/somewhat magical show) and tokyo mew mew new (i'm sure you know what tmm is) live;
reading an ongoing manga called ruri dragon (about a girl who suddenly grows horns and other dragon traits);
catching up on watching pripara (a predecessor but unrelated series to primagi, with slightly less of the magical girl stuff)

if you don't have anything to do with japanese media then i guess we can go for other countries (even if it's an obscure show from the 70s from like turkey or something). but i thought i'd start with something more focused

also i appear to have lost my tripcode and i'm not sure if i should make a similar one or something completely new or just stay anon since i'm here so infrequently anyway

I just got Yurukill in the mail yesterday.  Not sure exactly how to define it.  A mystery adventure?

It's got like some escape room sequences, and then some argument sequences, and then also shoot-em-up sequences that lead into argument sequences.  It's very Danganronpa like in that sense, but it's got a fairly different tone overall.

i don't think i've heard of it, but i hope you have fun!
i enjoyed danganronpa, i suppose(?) i liked watching someone play it than actually playing it, when it comes to games and stuff i like being able to switch my mind off

>Did you watch the Kemono Friends show too?
yes, but generally i have separated myself from both seasons due to various reasons, and my favourite character (green girl, cerval/cellval) doesn't appear at that point in the timeline. but i've been following kf since the third or so episode of s1. i was really heavily involved in following the background lore and stuff like that but now i'm just following the story of kf3.
>I'm watching Honzuki and OreSuki currently.
i think i've heard of oresuki in passing, but i'm pretty out of the loop in anime in general so i don't know anything about it other than the name. honzuki sounds kind of interesting from reading the summary

I have a pretty intense dislike of gacha games on just the concept. Not in an anti-gambling way, I have no problem with gambling inherently. It's something about digital waifus/husbandos and/or skins for said characters that just completely fails to meet my threshold for money value. And I buy overpriced plastic miniatures that I paint myself.

The newest anime that I've watched is Mob Psycho 100, and the third and what I suppose is the final season got announced a couple weeks ago, so I'll probably check that out.

As for non-Japanese media, I finally finished War and Peace yesterday. Throughout the book I did get the impression that Tolstoy was operating within the limitations of Tsarist censorship to criticize the government malaise of his own time. Specifically of do-nothing socialite Russian nobility. Also that they utterly need Jesus. He was clearly very, very, very religious. Which itself isn't surprising for a Russian man in 1865-1867. He also had a bone to pick with the historians of his time, which I can respect.

I have NOT kept up with anime for a long, long time. Most of what I have watched in recent years are more feature films than shows. I am still ever-so-slowly getting through Demon Slayer on occasion, heh.

I've recently taken my first stab at trying to see if I could feasibly draw Vash the Stampede sometime, what with the new Trigun show being announced though. Although I stink at drawing guns and machinery, so oops.

And sticking with 90ies anime, I really should give Slayers art another go sometime. Those characters have so many details, I'd like to see if I can do that decently by now.

And I am of course keeping an eye out for whenever Dragon Ball Super Hero is available to watch anywhere.

Really just a lot of geometric shapes to start with, I would think. Disregard if you've tried that already, which you may have.

>And I am of course keeping an eye out for whenever Dragon Ball Super Hero is available to watch anywhere.
Really glad I managed to yar har Super Broly off YouTube in a good quality when it came out.

It's figuring out ways the machinery would actually make sense that gets me. I know how to work with basic shapes, but robots require a level of detail I ma not often good with.

Heheh, I got a blu-ray box se twith all three Super movies a while back from Brav. Broly really was a hell of a ride.

And I am SO looking forward to a DB movie that shifts the focus to someone other than Goku.

I really should draw more DBZ stuff too, I don't do that often enough. Did do a pretty good Roshi recently though.

understandable, it's not for everyone, personally i've spent probably more than normal on kf3 but it doesn't make me personally upset/regretful so that's all that matters...?

i'm generally not a seasonal anime watcher (my most recent ones were spy x family and kisekoi because i liked the mangas of both) so i understand that, before that it was only both kf seasons and before that pokemon xy - that was my first seasonal anime following, the only other time i followed anything live before that was mlp

>Pokemon XY
I admit, I have limited patience for the Pokemon anime's tendency to constantly repeat facts for the kids, but I do sometimes find myself looking up Gym Battle and League episodes just to watch some interesting fights - cause the y can be damn good. And frankly, I probably should if I am gonna be drawing some Pokemon stuff soon. I hear good things about Journeys, so I might watch a few episodes.

Haha, well, I can mainly draw characters. Machines, guns, robots, vehicles... not so much. Or at least, I don't have a lot of practice in it. And my one Vash sketch so far isn't more interesting than "just standing there" cause I just wanted to see if I could get his design down.

Oh, Slayers is great. Imagine if D&D and early Dragonball Z had a baby, and the protagonist was a female Munchkin player, and you have some idea.

It did get five anime seasons and a bunch of movies for a reason.

I suppose. It's just one of those things I don't think that I'll ever understand nor will I recommend it to anyone.

>i've never watched it, would you recommend it?
Yes. It's probably the best representation of the awkward teenager trope I've seen out of anime, and is definitely making a commentary of the trope while still having a genuine core to it.

>i can't give a good comment on this because i've never read it

Most recently watched Demon Slayer Kimetso no Yaiba cause it seems to be the current hotness and that got me curious, also went and read all the manga. I gotta say I love a good Shonen Jump series that knows when to wrap up it's story in just a few years and not overstay it's welcome.

Also got caught up with Dr. Stone and finished the manga along with it. A pretty ridiculous series but I greatly appreciate a shonen series whose whole theme is "science! fuck yeah!" as opposed to some heart-of-the cards bullshit.

I've been wanting to rewatch maybe Samurai Champloo which I might still do but right now I'm mostly waiting for all the fall anime coming out in a couple months. So much anime coming out... more episodes of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, new season of Mob Psycho 100, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, the new Urusei Yatsura... I'm not much of an anime watcher of late, but I have been watching Uncle From Another World.

It's a "Post-Isekei" anime about a Japanese man who has awakened from a 17-year long coma. He claims that he was in another world for the last 17 years and, from speaking the spells he know into Japanese, able to cast powerful spells along with other magical abilities he knows of.

He's also a huge Sega fan, having to have had his accident around the '90s during the height of Sega's career. So when he's not reminiscing his adventures in the other world he's often on about Sega Saturn games.

The city close by has been getting a weeaboo store that I've noticed since this year.

Perfect Blue definitely is. I dunno about Paranoia Agent outside of its base premise.

Yes, Perfect Blue is famously a major inspiration for Black Swan, and Requiem for A Dream has a scene basically directly recreated from it. It's quite an unfluential piece.

I haven't really been keeping up with anime lately. After binging hundreds of seasons of anime, I kinda got tired of it.

Especially after I just started reading the manga instead, because most anime never actually finish the story and that just wears me out these days.

I have rewatched some of my faves lately (Dragon Maid, Little Witch (Amanda best girl), Nichijou, etc.), and watch the standouts of each season (Spy X Family, let's go!)

I'm pumped for the new season and new spinoff of Konosuba!

And looking forward to anything else KyoAni puts out. They're friggin' the best. (I'm still sad heartbroken over the fire.)

As for manga, I've been slowing down with that too. I've read so many that it's hard to find anything that really stands out as unique. Everything is so cookie cutter and predictable, it's just no fun most of the time.

I'm keeping up to date on the main ones (Komi-san, Nagatoro, Dressup Darling, Spy x Family, etc.), but those don't take a lot of time.

The last anime I finished was Evangelion. It was way better and less intimidating to watch than I was expecting, which is kind of a common experience I have with everything, really. It was a year ago and I never did watch End of Evangelion. Yay for cognitive dysfunction.

The last anime I watched was Yuki Yuna, but I think I stopped midway through the second episode and just wasn't in the mood to go back. Again, nothing to do with the quality of the show. I was feeling like dark magical girl stuff and that was kind of what I got.

Evangelion is 26 episodes or two movies, depending on how you prefer to watch it. There's also the Rebirth... quadrilogy? But that's different in a few ways.

Utawarerumono is... from what I understand, kind of like Fire Emblem but lower-budget with more text and inspired by the Ainu people. Also it has more kemonomimi.

Nichijou is another thing I've been meaning to watch for a long time. I feel like having more things you've been meaning to watch for years than you've actually ever watched is kind of an issue.
