i have started watching Owl House, in the meantime. it's so much different than infinity train, but i feel really enchanted by it in a different way

it's not nearly as mysterious or thinky, but it is very charming, in a pony sort of way... it's heartwarming to watch, which is great

Well it is a Disney Channel show. It's a good one and goes some fun places on occasion, but it is certainly a different beast from "An experimental series of largely unconnected stories that share a setting", heh.

I've already watched most of the cartoons in this thread (dear lord She-Ra Moony please watch She-Ra immediately), and I have to add Over the Garden Wall. It's quite short, beautifully animated and written, and has this comfy vibe that feels like you're inside of an old folk tale. Just try not to get distracted by the fact that Elijah Wood is one of the protagonists. I can never not hear Frodo.

Also, this thread finally prompted me to start watching Owl House and this has got to be one of the most adorable shows I've ever seen.

It is indeed! I can't go too long without stopping by to visit and chat. :) Life is...very strange but good. This year is turning out to be a transition year for me, so I'm trying to figure out what direction I want life to go in now. It's exciting and scary.

I think if you often because I recently moved into a 100 year old cottage in the woods in the middle of Oakland, and the front yard is perfect for sitting and sipping tea. It's so peaceful. How have you been doing?

...strange, but good? a transition year? i think those kinds of years are important! Once again, i might follow in your footsteps

if there is one thing i know though, about hawkeye, it is that you will emerge from the changes in your life for the stronger, and better. of this, i admire you so much, and think so highly of you, dear friend

a 100 year old cottage in the woods... with a front yeard for sipping tea. it sounds wonderful, hawkeye. it sounds incredible.

peace is good, for the soul! good for times that might be scary and exciting. i should wish to ask you sometime, about your adventures and journey, dear friend.

i have been okay! i am still working at the new firm... i am at my... third year? it is a very intense job, and it has a very high turnover because of its demanding hours, and extremely high pressure... i am the third senior most attorney, after just three years, in an office of sixty.

But, it is rewarding! i do asylum and VAWA work, so i get to do my best... helping very vulnerable people. of that, i am certainly grateful. maybe, for my transition year someday, i shall go off and do these things on my own, in my own way.

...you can totally do it, hawkeye. you are the best. you will do great, just as ever. i believe in you.

Cartoony update!

i am more than half way through the season of Owl House, and i am super, super smitten

i think it is great. i love all the characters so far, though gus is a bit grating

i especially like how the relationship between luz and amity seems to be developing.

they are so cute... the blushing is the cutest part. luz is pretty great too all around

hm... infinity train

Season 1 remains my favorite, and i still miss the characters and dynamic of the first season

i found Season 2 impressive once it got going, and was very shocked and interested in Season 3.

i am a bit through Season 4, and so far, am not so impressed - even though the situation is much more relatable to me, and even directly applicable to me, i have not found it as compelling and wish we could have focused on a certain turtle and woman instead

i will slowly finish season 4, and hope it picks up like season 2

i will say, my favorite infinity train season is 1, then 3, then 2, then 4. 1 is far away my favorite. 3 is slightly better than 2, because 2 took so long to pick up steam. and 4, so far, is perplexingly tame in comparison

that said... allen dracula is so great of a character, and is my favorite companion so far. but, i also loved tuba. 11 and atticus are great, too.

the best side character though, in general, is the cat. the cat has been fascinating in every single season so far. ..then hazel. i love hazel.

So... The thing about Season 4...

Owen Dennis, the creator of Infinity Train, always wanted a total of eight season (due to 8 looking like an Infinity Symbol), but the shows production has been troubled. Season 3 was released on HBO MAX due to its darker content, and for the longest time we didn't even know for sure whether or not we were getting a Season 4 at all... And when it did drop it was declared to be the final season, unless someone else picks it up or it somehow gets renewed.

Owen and his crew already have a Full script for Season 5, and it would indeed have answered a lot of questions still lingering and focused on some of the things you're aKing for. But they were told of the cancelation a good chunk into production of Season 4.

Season 4 was never meant to be as strong as the three that came before it. It was supposed to be a breather. A softer, less high stakes story to function as an intermission between two heavier ones.

Lord knows if we will ever get to see the rest Owen had planned, but this is just to say that this really isn't the crew's fault. Someone else pulled the plug at a point where they were basically warming up for something bigger.

I watched a good chunk of the first season when it was new. For a similar show, I'd recommend Craig of the Creek.

Well similar in that it's basically just "world seen through a kid's eyes" with every game or conflict being presented as if it is some manner of fantasy epic and it's very endearing.

About the sexism, I was not sure whether this was being an isolated case or an allegory to a japanese social problem. Since Sexism at workplace does not seem to be a problem here.

But do people in the US know about Studio Xilam cartoons?

Oggy and the Cockroaches is hilarious, and you know I at least have SOME knowledge of french/belgian animation since animation based on their comics (and the comics thesmelves) are very popular here. I haven't actually seen any of The Daltons, but plenty of the other Lucky Luke stuff. The 2000s movie "Go West", animated by some of the Oggy folks, is absolutely hysterical.

I know Xilam is French and all.

I found that a Oggy / Zig and Sharko and Daltons were a lot on children's broadcast over here. I found the quality of the cartoons top shelf.

I probably should find more time to watch their other stuff / just watch the stuff I know consistently.

But it's always nice to hear what others think about those shows/movies. It has its own style.
