How early is too early to put up Christmas decorations? It's not even Thanksgiving yet and I'm seeing Christmas decorations in stores already!

I think traditionally they're not supposed to go up until the day after Thanksgiving, though putting them up on Thanksgiving while the family's all there is acceptable.

Stores put out Christmas decorations as soon as Halloween is over. It's a combination of wanting to have that stuff out as long as possible for monetary reasons, and for not having to re-arrange the store twice when they already made room for Halloween stuff.

We can't do much about stores and when they put it out, but in terms of the home, I'd say You should not put up your Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving. Black Friday is the official start of the Christmas season for me personally, and it runs from then through to New Years.

Local stores where I live have Christmas isle set up around August-September, with enough room for the breif Halloween stuff for October.

Adorable. Try living here where stores were filled to the brim with Christmas Candy on October 2nd, didn't get Hallwoeen candy until like the 12th, ran out of it by the 23rd and didn't refill it.

Granted, Halloween is not a big holiday like it is in the US here, and it is largely something people do for personal fun, but when it's like this I just wonder hat the point of putting that shit up is at all.
