Whats the maximum .gif size limit?

I found some i really want to use that are like 14meg but wont post (gets timeout error even from good comnection at work) and it looks like i was just able to post a 7 meg one (barely).  Is the limit 10 or something?

Can we increase it a little bit?  Any ideas on maybe a site that might squash them a little for me to get under the size limit? Etc,

Edit:  found a free compressor:

Problem solved.

I'll look into it. Might be easily configurable :3

Some not quite nsfw classics while we wait for the King to produce

Please don't make it too high.  Some of us are dirty phone posters with capped or pay-per-GB data plans.

Also there are some Canadians I think.

Kinda agree on principle. Gifs are basically the worst form of 'video', even if they are common. I'd rather not allow them to slow down or clutter the page, even if I can afford the bits.

>gifs are best form of video

Dirty fone posters like me?  Gifs dont crowd download until you click them, that argument is moot.

I'd like to post up to 20 meg, is that too big?

Has your phone never registered a tap somewhere you didn't intend to tap?

Provided they don't play, does it matter? I thought it'd only hit that sort of thing if you clicked it.

Sometimes I accidentally tap on an image on my phone.

Understandable, but, I'd rather avoid file limits just because someone might accidentally click things.

At that point, a better solution'd be some toggle-able function for hiding images above a certain size.
Might not be practical, though.

Got this from 13meg to 7 meg using compression.  It still takes a while to upload but did the trick!

I think WebM would be a better format for something like that.

Webm's are great but I'm stuck in my ways and I love .gifs.

As I said, I compressed the size range I had trouble with and I'm quite happy now with the existing limits.

And thanks.  Webms really are pretty awesome.
