Wow, this was really good. On par with a few other channels I’ve seen like it that have millions of subscribers. Well done!

Also I find it somewhat amusing that some people actually took school this seriously. I literally did nothing during my last two years of high school. I honestly didn’t even complete a single assessment or pass any test. In fact they wouldn’t even let me do the exams because they knew I wasn’t going to take it seriously, assuming I did them at all.

My teachers eventually gave up on me and let me do whatever the hell I wanted, because they knew that arguing with me would only cause even more trouble. By the last few months of the last year when everyone was stressing out over tests and exams I was put into a special room so I couldn’t disturb anyone. I got to play the on the computer virtually all the time, for every class.

For the vast majority of my last two years of high school I just read books on my phone and ate and drank whatever I wanted in class. It was great I would be congratulated for doing just about anything because my standards were otherwise so low.

School is largely just a joke. 90% of what you’re taught there won’t apply to your real life and you’ll likely just forget about it anyway, and the sad thing is that a lot of people would agree with me here, and yet most of them actually did work in school. I didn’t see why I should waste my time on things that don’t interest me are completely irrelevant to my life, so I didn’t.

You can’t fail your exams if you just read fashy books and drink energy juice all day, ha ha. My tip id if you do nothing in school people will expect nothing of you.

Well, as a 38 year old transwoman with more years as an adult than a minor, let me tell you from experience that you can't really know that for certain.

In fact, the fact that know one can really predict what will happen in their lives is kind of the reason educational curriculum is so full of seemingly useless information, it's taking the "just-in-case" approach to education, you don't really know what's going to happen to your life, so you might as well be prepared for the unexpected in life.

I've had a few like that, but they end up hateing me.
Normally because I passed with an A.

The only problem with that is that I’m literal White trash, and far from smart or skilled enough to work my way into any decent position. Education is for talented and skilled people who want to better their life and are willing to put in the blood and sweat to make that happen, I am none of those things.

All I want and all I know I’m going to get out of life, given who I am and the kind of background I come from is a minimum wage job doing literally anything I’m given. (That’s already a step up from most of my family) I’m not capable of achieving anything more than that. In light of this high school seemed to be just a big joke for people more fortunate than me. I don’t see why I should have paid any serious amount of respect or deference to an institution that offered me nothing and held me against my will, demanding that I do completely meaningless tasks.

>"just-in-case" approach
Why should a whole class of students be dragged through something like chemistry because one student might, maybe become a chemist one day? That seems like a completely waste of time for everyone else in the class.

I don't recall having outright sadistic teachers... I have, howeve,r had a few that were either alarmingly incompetent or just all out raging pricks that shouldn't be allowed five hundred feet near children considering they were clearly humanly incapable of treating anyone remotely well. Like, say, having a teacher in the same two classes for FOUR YEARS that still never learned your name and called you be the name of another student who was a head shorter than you and black-haired, just to name one example.

Okay, but still, I can guarantee you that you can't really rely on that sense of certainty about what will or will not happen in your future.

I'm not saying this as some sort of platitude like, "you never know what you could achieve". I mean like, "you never know if the people you are totally dependent on will die in a car crash tomorrow", or "you are literally too small and powerless to control what opportunities will exist or where they will be, so you might as well develop some adaptability, cause no matter who you are you will need that adaptatibility.

Otherwise you can't really be free.

There are a lot of other reasons to get educated beyond just job skills.

>"you never know if the people you are totally dependent on will die in a car crash tomorrow"
No offence, but I don’t see how wasting well over a decade of your life (most of your childhood) is worth it because of some unlikely “what if” scenario. Yeah you should have some kind of net to fall back into, but that net doesn’t have to be gold plated, especially if the chance of you falling into it is negligible at best in the first place.

>"you are literally too small and powerless to control what opportunities will exist or where they will be,
I’m not in the position where I can choose what kind of opportunities I want, I just have to take what I’m given. And working my way out isn’t an option. Most people in my position never work their way out of anything, so it’s better to just accept your life than try to be something you’re not.

>Otherwise you can't really be free.
And wasting years of your life on getting useless qualifications that’ll give you high stress job that pays just slightly more than minimum wage is freedom? I don’t see why I should let my job or education dictate my life worth.

Minimum wage is enough for me to live off, anything else is just unnecessary stress and bills for shit I don’t need. I think the idea of living in poverty is actually more freeing because it means you don’t have to worry about any major responsibilities. As long as you aren’t stupid enough to have kids or develop some kind of drug or alcohol dependency minimum wage (at least where I live) is more than enough to get by. Again I don’t see why I should define myself by my job prospects or education. A job feeds me, other than that I couldn’t care less about it.

>There are a lot of other reasons to get educated beyond just job skills.
In high school I read A LOT of books, (and fan fiction) and probably got more out of that than most of my class mates did from their work. If I want to learn something I’ll use the Internet to read about it.

I mean, that was kind of my point. no one is really in control of their opportunities, that's why education is the way it is, you get a bit of everything "just in case" because you can't really be totally certain what you will not need.

Beyond that, that, a curriculum that includes what contemporary curriculums do is also meant to help a person in those situations where such knowledge would actually be very useful (i.e. like in making major purchasing or investment decisions, or avoiding being scammed).

Exactly.

To make a complex series of events far too simple, the English Revolution was based in a lot of ideas that later influenced the American Revolution, which played a role in destabilizing an already unsteady France into its revolution, which happened concurrently with the Haitian revolution which due to proximity also affected foreign relations of the nearby and newly formed America. The French Revolution was its own hot mess that eventually gives us Emperor Napoleon, but during this time we see a young idealistic Simón Bolívar go to France and revel in its revolutionary spirit especially of its leader Napoleon, just before he accepts a crown. So Bolívar gets disillusioned, and decides he's going to do revolution in Spanish America, and his strongest ally when he does so is the Haitian Republic. The eventual loss of most of the colonies ruins Spain, and then that just adds to tension with the restored Bourbons in France, eventually leading to the July Revolution in France, a new constitutional monarchy. Then from the actions of Napoleon during the French Republic days eventually leads to the areas of the Italian peninsula getting nationalism into their heads and deciding to form this thing called "Italy." Which sparks the first of the Revolutions of 1848 which will eventually spread to France, Austria, Prussia, and Hungary. Oh, also Belgium is in there somewhere. But during the revolutions of 1848 is when there came a difference between political and social revolution, and the people who want an answer to the social question are... well, the early socialists! And they end up seizing control of the Russian Revolution.

But that's a very, very condensed, short version that doesn't really make much sense without all the details being fleshed out like they deserve.

I'd like to add that at the end Simón opted for asking for help to Great Britain, which did not give much importance to the matter I think, but helped.

The French invasion to Spain by Napoleon helped anyways so the Bolivarian army gained control with some adventage.

Mr. Guillotine does seem the sort who just wanted you to try your hardest in life and to impart to you how you took it at 8:02.

He was probably fully aware he came off as difficult as a teacher but at the same time didn't want to just hand out top-marks with little effort put into it.
If I was a teacher like Mr. Guillotine, I would of announced my intentions to the class on day 1, that I'd be there to make it difficult for my interest but to make it challenging for yours so that you can feel a sense of acomplishment when it's done.

But then again I don't recall my SATs results much. I think I got Bs, Cs and Ds. Never really enjoyed school to that much and throughout my entire childhood felt like it was something I wanted to be over and done with.

(Also, what program do you use to animate with?)

i do understand that, but this wasn't an upper division class, it was a basic class for a prerequisite. i imagine over half the people in that class were not history majors at all. it feels that it was way too strigent to give to people looking to cover a pre requisite.

>hugs and kajis <3

>>991732
heh, i don't doubt at all that the sciences like chemisty and biology are that crazy

>what's with the number 2

maybe because it's because people in a "2" class are there because they want to persue that major and they SHOULD be challenged that hard :PP

But you did said in the video you always felt school was a bit easy. Perhaps the ultimate lesson Mr. Guillotine tried to pass to you is life isn't easy. Especially if he can make you a stronger person for it.

After all you stuck with the class in the end and got a passing grade. I pressumed the two others did as well? If not you would of been one in 23 students that practically earned his favour over a whole bunch of students who were given it.

that's assuming that students don't already know what difficulty and hardship is. i already was going through one of the hardest years of my life, and those classes only added to the stress that i had. plus when you are dealing with thousands of dollars in tuition costs, i'm less inclined to give benefit to "teach you how to be a stronger person" sort of thing.

if it were an upper division course, or heck even just like a "history 2 electric boogaloo" sort of thing, then i'd be more forgiving. but it sucks when your major is something completely unrelated to the class, and that one class is preventing you from receiving that grade.

life is already hard, there are already plenty of avenues of learning the difficulties of life, i don't think it's right to add that knowingly onto people already trying to keep everything together

Weeeelll yes and no. WIth the podcast I do with my friend, we write down timestamps for when I Gotta add sound bites to the raw recording so I can do those fairly quickly. Speedpaints are mostly speeding up the footage, talking over it and aligning things soit syncs. And the Gameplay only requires much editing if I have to retry a segment a ton of times or spend a lot of time figuring out where to go, so I can cut out the "dead air". It's more when I do my main video that it's a ton of effort.

Nice pic! It's so cool seeing your style develop! Do you have any older pics you'd be willing to share? when did you start drawing Noelle and Suzie so often?

well the oldest instances of drawing noelle and susie is when i started making vids about them

the first time i drew susie to any capacity is this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HW5hMwDzLo

and then the first time i started drawing noelle was this video

Me and the pineapple? W-ell... the only thing you can really do with a pineapple! enjoy it!
by drinking its juice! Or making a pina-colada! Or just eating it!

Oo~ nice! your chalk video is so good! did you ever upload it to places outside of youtube? Newgrounds or albinoblacksheep or anything?

you can also have it on pizza ^^

oh yeah, i love my Chalk video quite a bit. and i would love to make another one like that someday, if it wasn't for the fact they take so long to make :PP

i have not, but i did share it all over the place, and as such have seen a lot of views on it

Funnily enough, I like my pineapple seperately from my 'za! Though I don't mind it on pizza, I'd rather have them on their own, y'know?
How long did the chalk video take you? I imagine it would take FOREVER!
I'm glad it's been viewed a lot! it deserves it ;) One of these days I'd like to make an animation, but I wouldn't know what of! Something to do with a mew, I think!

that's fair, but let it be known that i'm a total pineapple on pizza stan!

it took me 3 months. from mid december through March, it was a lengthy process that turned out wonderful in the end! i mean there are things i wish i could have done differently, but given that i never did anything like THAT before, i was proud of myself

oooh ooh! what would you want your animation to be? comedy? slice of life? some other third thing?

Pineapples on everything forever! If it takes a couple pineapple-y pizzas to get people talking about pineaples, so be it!
>that gif
I think that's my favourite part! It makes me hear feel funny... but in a good way. I only just noticed the little smile Noelle does when it focuses on the chest floof... so cuuuute

I don't even know! Maybe a music video type thing? But I don't even know what tunes! Maybe a melodic one set to adventurin'... what do you think? would my style lend itself well to anything?

all hail the magic pineapple!

and i'm glad to hear that part touched you like that. I REAAAALLY wanted to portray what Susie was seeing, and up until that point, i never drew anything like that without reference before. So i was actually worried that i couldn't draw her like that. but i was so surprised when the lineart came out as pretty as it did. then it was just a matter of what i wanted. and the crossfades with the medium close, the extreme close on the eyes, and then from the mouth down to the chest turned out well. i remember i had issues trying to time it right, and that was a bit of a pain, but it worked out. that was my favorite part of the animation <3

your style is cute, lively and bouncy! music videos and little sweet things and/or comedy could do you good! it might be a challenge to animate something like that with fluidity by yourself, so i would ask if you want full animation, or are you okay with animatics/or storytime comics? that will heavily influence the length of time it will take you to really put into your work.

and as for content, easiest thing to ask is what do you like to watch? what do you go onto youtube to just enjoy when you are in the mood?

Pineapple power!

well, you nailed it. You're hard work payed off! I can only imagine how satisfying it is to complete something like that. When a vision gets nailed, especially an art related one, it feels *so good*!

Aww, thanks for the compliment! Your advice makes a lot of sense! I don't know that I could do an full length animation... an animatic could be fun! One of my favourite youtube videos is an undertale animatic of death by glamour!

as for what I enjoy, it's all over the board! I like cute/endearing/inspiring things! Oh, and adventure! Maybe something like a mew setting off or getting prepared for a big trip? That could be cute!

nothing can stop our pineapples!
>gif related!

it was a validating and just purely awesome experience <3

anyone can do an animation if they are patient enough. it's just a matter of how fluid they want it and how much time do they want to devote to it. i know you could animate if you want to, but i also know that animatics are fun and faster overall

>death by glamour

oooh that's a good one! Mettaton is FABULOUS!!!

>mew setting off f or getting prepared for a big trip?

that sounds fun! what would you want to convey in this trip preperation? is it a sweet thing? is there comedy involved with shenanigans?

That's quite the pineapple trick! Is thst the famous "Katia Pineapple Move"? It's amazing!

Hmm... well, an animatic is helpful for planning out a traditional animation too, rigjt? Might be a good place to start at the very least!

mettaton is SO FABULOUS! I love you Mettaton! <3

Sweet thing, definitely! And I'd want it to convey some sort of hope for the future! And shenanigans *a-plenty*!

nope! the Katia Pineapple Move is far more amazing, and far FAR more NSFW

that is the traditional method yes! so there you go! then you can decide if you want to build on top of it or not from there

my advice is to go with your gut and try to pay attention to what feels boring to you, if something is dragged out to you, then it probably can use some more attention and key frames :))

OH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

i think that is a lovely idea! that would also probably work well with some music :))

youtube has a library of royalty free music that you can venture into, that's where i got most of the music for my videos. or you can look for them elsewhere if you need something that they don't have :))

o-oh my... can one really do such things with a pineapple...?

Cool! A starting point!

Royalty free music is a good idea! I will try to find a nice adventure-y one!

But for now I need to go to sleep... it's getting a wee bit past my bed time! Night Noelle! Thanks for threading with me and have a good night <3 Oh, and for all the advice, too!
