So I had a pretty neat experience this morning
I had to go on a long train ride. As always, I bring some reading materials and my sketchbook. Soon enough I'm doodling, more specifically Candace and Stacy from Phineas and Ferb. Not really anything special, just doodles of them doing random stuff.

At the last stretch of the trip, I notice two boys standing near my seat. I am Not good at gauging age, but probably in the 10-12 years range. So I take off my headphones and address them. They say I'm good at drawing, I thank them. So far vrything is just nice and pleasant. Not th first time somethin like this has happened

But this is where things get a little different from usual.

Because all of a sudden, there were like six more kids. I'm guessing they were a class on a trip or something. They recognize the characters. They all seem quite impressed. One girl asks if I'm a youtuber too (I have no idea why she would ask that as a first thing, but it IS true). I answer yes, and before I can clarify that I am SUPER small (5K subs) and make very nerdy English language content she probably wouldn't care about, she actually lets out a movie-styl fangirl-esque squeal. Earpiercin stuff, but it's well meaning.

They tell their teacher/Guardian/whatever she is, and I end up having to hurriedly explain to her that no, I am not some kind of celebrity or big time professional, I just draw a lot and do it on long train rides and make videos at home.

At this point, I have to get off, and the kids actually say shit like "bye art/Youtube man", only half jokingly. I am a bit sad that this all happened like five minutes before my stop and I had a new sketchbook with me with barely any drawings at all. I don't mind showing them off when people ask on the occasions where people chat me up about it in public, and from my outdoor art sessions for town fairs and the classes I teach, I've found that kids react positively to all the cartoon/game Fanart I draw, and just the notion of me knowing som of this stuff in general. Adults that care about most any cartoon shows/games are, apparently, still rare around here, so it's exciting to them.

And the whole thing just made me think.

Now, The point of this story is not "funny thing happened" or "kids dunno anything". The point is, even if you don't think highly of your own work as a creative - you see it with very different eyes than most. Others will consider what you do fucking MAGIC.

A lot of you know me that and that I have a really bad tendency to.. .well, not consider myself very good. Hell, I feel like I missed the bus most of the time and as if any random sixteen year old on twitter is worth ten me's or I am just psychologically Incapable of Improvement, of creating or of achieving anything in life.

Basically, I am not kind to me.

But still, just from doodling some cute characters from a cartoon I like, I probably brightened about ten kids' day considerably. Because to them, I have some crazy kind of magic power that materializes drawings out of nothing.
And I remember thinking similarly a while back when I saw a dude writing music notes on his iPad and realizing I couldn't begin to comprehend how he was doing it, even if I could tell he was writing music.

Your/our work is magical to many, many more people than the one grumpy troll sitting around nitpicking at it all the time and telling you to stop trying.

I won't  instantly learn this like some big lifechanging epiphany in one sweep.

But today it made me smile.

Yeah, that was a lot of sap, I know. But uh, for th sake of threads and conversations:

What are some out of nowhere wholesome moments you've experienced?

Whether like to believe it or not

That sounds like the kind of stuff that makes your day.
Glad to know this train travel was different from the other in a positive way, Esh.

I have considered you a good artist, not doubt you are levels above me, perhaps you should take this little expecience as a beginning to give some credit to yourself a bit more, just saying.

Honestly, I am jealous.

What do you mean?

It did. I am tird as hell right now, but still riding a little high off of it.

No, I most likely should. I am just not sur I have ever learned to consider much of anything I do worthwhile.

Oh, don't be. Ther's rally no need to.

Flexible schedule, viking friend.

Not much of a schedule when work is the exception rather than the rule

Living the dream, then.

You have got the most important asset: Time.

That I waste with my lack of motivations.

>hugs and kajis <3

I may very well finish those doodles wen I have some time tomorrow. Not cause they are all that interesting, but now I just kinda wanna do it cause they brought something so positive on.

So, earlier today, I finally had a little time to kill. And with this encounter still in mind, I pretty much felt I HAD to finish the doodles that caused this happy little moment.

I did also doodle ISabella from the same show, but that wasn't on the train, and I didn't finish that one earlier. Still, here's Candace...

File: 1568414473106.png (178.59 KB, 1280x999, 1280:999, Stacy Golf Swing.png) ImgOps Google

Great job Youtube Man!

Teaching a few of the new girls how to work in the kitchen was very wholesome for me.
I felt like the mama I want to be.

File: 1568425751175.png (15.34 KB, 590x600, 59:60, medium-7.png) ImgOps Google

That's pretty cool. You have fans now.

>like the mama I want to be.

I want to be a mama

Yes.  Magical!  I hope you are sufficiently inspired now.

Why thank you train kid.

Yaaaay, that's lovely!

Well I have had that for a while. This was mor of an unexpected instance.

Well it made me wanna work for a bit, so sure!

File: 1568470356548.png (1.68 MB, 1856x1080, 232:135, Thebestdayofmylife.PNG) ImgOps Google

Damn, look at that crisp style.

Oh hush. Just me trying to emulate the show.

File: 1568472101267.png (164.38 KB, 810x986, 405:493, 1434265947626.png) ImgOps Google

Sounds like a heck of an experience, Esh!

It was a pretty nice time.

Like I said, it's not TOO unusual for someone to comment if they se me drawing on the train. It doesn't happen oftn, but it happens. But it suddenly being half a car full of kids was something else alright

File: 1568472550766.png (87.27 KB, 249x263, 249:263, blues29.png) ImgOps Google

You're going to become a local celebrity yet!

Hardly. Not like I was around my hometown either.

Do you need to be?

To be "local"? That'd be what local means. Cause this sure doesn't reach "local" as in "In Denmark as a whole" either

File: 1568473126496.png (93.36 KB, 272x322, 136:161, blues38.png) ImgOps Google

Local as in within the locality!

>Over 30 miles away from home
>Not even in the same commune
Er. Sure.

File: 1568473615747.jpg (28.1 KB, 400x600, 2:3, blues54.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

That counts as local here!

It doesn't when your country is like half the size of some of the smaller States.

File: 1568473957574.png (129.13 KB, 751x1065, 751:1065, noteworthy_vector_s4e19_by….png) ImgOps Google

Then you'll just have to become a national sensation!

I like it.

You're funny.

For a moment I thought it was official Disney artwork.

Heh, well thanks. A careful comparison will shiw I draw the arms a bit more realistically defined, though. Have a bit of a hard time staying with those stick arms.

File: 1568476240156.jpg (25.51 KB, 455x600, 91:120, s_23.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

>Have a bit of a hard time staying with those stick arms.

Not compatible with your style?

I am not personally convinced I HAVE a style of my own whatsoever.

But yeah, I keep wanting things to look a little more real than styles that go for more basic shapes. Which is also why he girls above have slightly more realistic torsos thant he more straight triangular shapes they are in the show.

Buy we're those squealing fans?

Considering they are usually behind computer screens, I don't exactly get to hear if they are.

File: 1568476915750.jpg (44.9 KB, 600x504, 25:21, p_9.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

No problem with that, you add your own touch to the character.

Sure. Just saying they aren't exactly 1:1

File: 1568478608367.jpg (53.95 KB, 1200x1200, 1:1, 7fd.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

What are your thoughts on Modern Art?

What do you mean?

File: 1568478944320.jpg (53.95 KB, 1200x1200, 1:1, 7fd.jpg) ImgOps Exif Google

Which one do you like more, classic or modern art?

Assuming you're talking fine art for museums, I don't really have a strong feeling one way or the other. It's not quite where my interests lie.

File: 1568479438392.jpg (45.09 KB, 909x496, 909:496, g_3.JPG) ImgOps Exif Google

Are you only into fan-art, comics, etc?

I don't dislike fine art. It's just not my own scene. I'll happily tag along to visit a museum and appreciate things from there.

I bet museums are lovely there.
