at what point do you think it's personally acceptable to start killing spiders that have invaded your living space?

after dizzy recently deepcleaned our room, spiders didn't get the hint that they were unwanted, and more came in here anyway

at first my sisters dealt with them via kindness and throwing them outside or scooting them with a broom, but i think they're being dangerously optimistic

we have brown recluses here, and shit, so i started fucking sucking them into the vacuum hose because i don't have the time or emotional energy to worry about whether the spider staring me in the face while i try to sleep is going to induce spontaneous necrosis by biting my dick

As far as I've seen there's no spiders that pose a danger to me here, so I usually let them be. I'd rather the spider than a fly.

That depends, are the spiders a serious detriment to you and/or your property? And would removing them safely be practical? I’d personally say that if you can’t safely and easily remove them peacefully (E.G. there are too many and/or they are dangerous) that you have moral permission to kill them.

Also, side question, are you vegan? If not why do you have problem with killing insects that have virtually no sentient, but you’re fine with killing mammals that are about as sentient as a dog? (Not looking to get into a big debate about it, just pointing out your possible hypocrisy.)

Okay.

Name the trait absent in animals which if absent in humans would cause us to deem certain other humans without said trait as valueless, or at the very least not worth any moral consideration beyond simple taste pleasure and/or convenience.

E.G. “Humans are more intelligent than animals, therefore it is ok to kill animals because their lack of intelligence gives them  significantly lesser moral value in compassion to humans.” In which case I’d ask, “if a human was say as stupid as a pig or cow would it be justifiable to kill said human for food?”

I keep a truce with the cellar spiders in my house as they are said to keep the larger spiders at bay.

Outside the house, I am letting the cross spiders do their thing, although we had a tiff a bit over the last week, when a spider decided it's a great idea to weave it's web all accross the pathway. I cut the web once and it rebuilt its web the very next morning. I cut it again and nudged the spider around until it was off the wall and on the terrace around the corner. Likely the same spider snuck on the inside of the fly screen and I had to chase it outside again. then it stuck on the outside of the bugscreen again and later it was gone.

I do know a family of cross spiders inhabiting a web just outside my window, so when the moon is up, I could watch them sit there out of my window.

Now there's a cross spider rebuilding its web as well at the garden gate and I always destroy part of the web when I open the gate. t'll have to deal with that.
More annoying, some spiders crawl into the slots of the gate's lock mechanism. And that means thatI have seen the occasional spider zip out of there in a panic when they find I am opening the gate giving me a fright.

In the house there is aside from a load of cellar spiders, something that resembles a small cross spider on the in-side of the doorpost of the upstairs toilet. Like half a fingernail in size.

In my room I just caught a spider sitting where the wall and the ceiling meet. I'm not sure what kind it is. It doesn't look too big (maybe like the tip of my finger) looks dark brown/black and has a small round body and a pair of slender legs pointing forward now. (don't know how big it will seem when it stretches all its legs) I might deal with it and bring it outside should it descend onto the walls.

I've already put a couple of sizeable wolfspiders outside that were crossing the walls.

Now, house spiders I don't like. they freak me out, fortunately I have not caught any of them inside the house yet.

I know they inhabited the shed this spring and I don't look forward having to go deeper inside the shed. (I had already dubbed the spider shed, but the big one in the door I already found dead a few weeks later)

In my home I make it a big challenge to capture them with a plastic bowl and try to get them outside.
I hate them in my house, because they scare me a lot. Though I manage dealing with them if I find them outside in plain sight.

I try my hardest now to catch them and put them out without killing them and can manage to do that perhaps with one or two on a night.
My old house had "giant" versions of them, I swear. Like, frightfully huge.

Last year I dealt with a few by emptying a plastic box of legos and trying to scoop them up. That I could manage.

At 3 or more, I might snap and grab the vacuum or something, though I'd regret taking that resort.

Generally, i'll just move them from places i don't like, such as near my bed, and try to keep their webs down. The number of spiders that actually have the potential to harm humans is absolutely minute, and they do a good job of controlling the population of common pests like flies and gnats.
