I'd discourage it

Being a girlfriend isn't a job. Once you start going down that road all the pleasure gets sucked right out of it.

And Japan is also notorious for terrible dating atmosphere. That's not a normal interaction for someone to have.

They're both stupid, is what I mean.

It's supposed to mean love. As in, significant other, and all that jazz. Not just "person who has something I want".

Tbh I think pathetic people are worse, in some contexts.
Something like "buying a GF" is not enforced on the guys. They could very well improve themselves and not fall for that, but they don't. So all in all I think they deserve what they get.

In this case, I really doubt the individuals responsible are going to be checking out Ponyville. It's not really rude to laugh at a story. Laughing at people's mostly only rude if you do it directly to them.

Gilda was a bit crass, sure, but, I don't think she was a bully.
She was just jammed into an unfamiliar environment, had clear issues around trusting others, and was pushed into more and more uncomfortable situations by a resident probably autistic pony who couldn't understand her discomfort, and a friend who just didn't seem to care.

Only thing that comes close is her shouting at Fluttershy. But, I'd pin that on having a bad day, not a general state of action.

The girl was a bit greedy, sure, but I don't think she was harming anyone.
She was just jammed into a probably difficult economic situation by her father who couldn't understand she needs more money to live her life and goals, and a guy who gave her the option to make some quick bucks.

Only thing that comes close to harm is her charging that much to the kid. But, I'd pin that on not knowing the value of money, not a general state of action.

I'd call direct exploitation of someone who's clearly got issues and needs help through that, not someone who's taking advantage of you, pretty harmful.
I'd excuse it as kids being dumb and not really understanding morality, though.

I'd call direct exploitation of someone who's clearly got issues and yet is trying to help you, not someone who's annoying you, pretty bully-ish.

I really fail to see how Gilda directly exploited anyone. Pinkie's parties were not something Gilda wanted, that was clear from the get go. She was woefully uncomfortable, in a situation she'd never been, surrounded by strangers, hitting prank after prank which wasn't even something she seemed to be interested in besides.

Pinkie's got issues, but, she was the cause, not someone taken advantage of. It's her issues that make me excuse her actions, not make it okay to take advantage of her, which I don't think happened.

The theft's the worst one I saw. Fluttershy's interaction I think can be chocked up to having a really rotten day.
She's trying to hang out with an old, and honestly it seems like only, friend, and she constantly gets interrupted by a pink pony who cant' follow even the most direct of hints.

Stealing is pretty shit, though. Even if it was only an apple, and pony economics are stupid.

I mean, it's a tad shitty to mess with someone's stuff, but, given this is a cartoon we're talking about, where these sorts of things happen all the time, I would hardly call it 'attempted murder'.
And Gilda did try to tell Pinkie off before. She's just got some major problems where she can't even understand blatant and direct statements when it comes to this sort of thing.

it's clear by the ponies' reaction to falling (particular the pilot "trust me" aj to twiggy moment) that they see falling as potentially fatal, and I don't care how annoying someone is, unless they are threatening your safety directly, it is NOT ok to send them falling hundreds of feet or more to the ground.

You can dismiss it as throwing your beloved character under the bus with behavior you don't think she would normally do, but you cannot justify said behavior and I don't wanna argue with you so, moving on.

Ponies've fallen countless times in the show without issue. It's not something that could be considered consistent.
I think the show would've treated actual attempted murder a bit more seriously, if it were that. If it were attempted murder, none of the rest of the show at that point makes any sense. Gilda should've been arrested, or otherwise kicked out.
That obviously didn't happen, however, because it isn't treated as 'attempted murder'.

lots of ponies do awful potentially fatal things and are quickly forgiven.  Only a select few are exterminated or incarcerated in Tartarus so that argument doesn't hold water.

However, I can agree that the handling of such things IS inconsistent so I'll leave it there.
