i have always been lucky, in that i can sleep really easily. i can fall asleep just like a stone, at any time, no matter what

sometimes, i even fall asleep by accident!! but, it is okay - i love the feeling of sleep

how about you? do you like to sleep?

Haha, nope.

my sleep comes about either because of a massive caffeine crash, or copious amounts of alcohol.

Well I don't sleep normally, I just kinda go until I crash. It ends up with me sometimes having to "reset" my sleeping after a few weeks where I just go about 24-36 hours and then sleep at around a normal time.

And then the cycle continues.

My tolerance for caffeine is low. I can feel my heart rate increase when I have soda, for instance.

I find coffee as a commodity interesting, though, and I've been part of many communities where it verges on a spiritual necessity. Yet, at the same time, there is so much artifice which goes into a good cup.

What's your ideal cup of coffee?

my ideal cup of coffee? not too acidic, but very nice and caramelly. a little earthy. smooth, with a touch of brightness, but not too bright. hints of vanilla.

anything bolder, and you are just drinking burnt stuff in a cup - https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-93cbb7f27fa5e53f633c049730d9eac1

this is an Italian Roast - it's basically just completely charred beans

Bustelo is already so dark, any of the beans natural characteristic is lost, which is okay for some

but it is not really what very fine coffee should be, as it would be a waste to roast an expensive coffee so dark!

We can't lay down at all because we'll instantly crash from exhaustion. So yes, we sleep very easily.

I could fall asleep in a hot car if I tried.
Or a couch, or just the pavement. Anywhere really.
We can't get enough of sleep.
Too much sleep makes us sick though.

i am unsure how to say Starlight Glimmer - i can look up and see if they have translated her name in the Taiwanese version of the show

"Starlight Glimmer" shi zhui bang de xiao ma
"Starlight Glimmer" 是最棒的小馬.

i think best is literally translated as "zhui hao" [most good]. But figuratively, "zhui bang" [most impressive] is more accurate.
彩虹小馬

Starlight is 星光 "xing guang." Glimmer? i am unsure how to best translate that. i would just say "光" Maybe you can call her xing guang guang
星光光. But it doesn't make too much phonetic sense. Though it sounds nice.

depends if you believe sound is something that needs to be perceived to be considered a sound ^^

i doubt it, but that's not exactly surprising. it's a gridcore band with a very niche novelty focus. so it probably is seen as a fun novelty amongst grindcore fans

unlike the Flanders based death metal band, Okilly Dokilly! Those guys are very popular!

hmmm... i guess for me would either be the initial brain storming, where you come up with the story, themes, and beats.

or towards the end when you are on your 2nd-3rd-4th draft and you are tightening the story, making the little nuanced details and changes that elevate the story, and making it really become the unified whole that you first envisioned in your head in the first place <3

pfft in a way yeah. although i guess it's only natural for a creative. people love to come up with ideas and start projects, or to talk about shows and media they loved to watch and just how complete and whole it feels.

but the middle part is where so many stop, cause now they gotta make the darn thing, and see all the flaws, hiccups, writing blocks, and malaise it brings.

we love the ideas, but the work is seldom loved. but it's that work that seperates those who love stories from those who make the stories we love <3

I'd say I'm okay with the work. If it's going well it's about 50/50 torment/enjoyment. But there's a lot that can stop you. Self-doubt is a big one. Losing touch with one's original vision is another. Scrupulosity, comparing yourself to other writers--particularly writers you admire. The prospect that what you're doing may in the end be just for you.

i can safely say i'm much the same way, and all that stuff affects me as well. i don't want to lose my style by focusing too much on the writing of others, but at the same time knowing how others write and make their stories helps you make their art.

My approach to that is to go through the problems on my own. I don't read a lot of other fiction and I don't look for talks or lectures on the "art" side of it. Stay with it--see where the work takes you, and when you come out on the other side, then you will have something to stand on when you observe the masters.

Learning from "our" people is tricky, because it can be a distraction and lead to overconfidence; learning from those who are not "our" people is a good exercise, but one has to learn indirectly. The right guidance from the right teacher, as you know, is something one has to be in the right place for. But it takes a long time to get there.
