Ok, so I learned from selling drugs in Grand Theft Auto that the secret to these kinds of things is to buy low and sell high.

I've been told that turnips go on sale Sunday. What is a good price for me to enter the market at?

i would feel confident entering into turnips on Sunday without any issues if the price is under 100 bells per turnip

i usually put a price cap of 105 bells per turnip, for purchase price

otherwise, i will look around for a friend who has lower price to buy from them

and if i am feeling lazy, and the price is 105 or more, i might not buy too many - just some, in case i, or a friend ,sees a substantial increase in price that week

otherwise, you can use bells in other ways to make bells! time value of money!

I don't have any good projections at the moment.

For Biomed I'd be looking at Cefeid, Abbott Laboratories, and Roche Pharmacuticals for their current products and ambitions as well as the fact that they'd be relatively insulated from future litigation, but I'm also terrible at these predictions as the investing world seems to have minimal interest in financial viability. I know in the past when I've looked at Cefeid for offering viable products that have rapidly growing demand and that will only have higher interest as time goes on and adoption of their proprietary proven technologies becomes more widespread I've been shocked to find investors considered it to be an uninteresting company with suffering stock prices compared to other more sensationalist competitors who lacked anything financially attractive to me besides their compensation package.

To avoid the hazard of weighing in on industries I understand, my guess is that very mainstream ETFs and companies that the investor class is spooked away from "normal". I would combine safe havens that have proven resilient to the current crisis with some research into overlooked assets whose value has remained constant and selecting a wide pool of these. For example, money managers prefer having a portion of their portfolios in commodities, but energy and base metals that have normally been the bread and butter of such portfolios are suffering horribly. On a quickie check semi-precious metals, cotton, and livestock are doing quite well. I'd look for moderately well performing ETFs that represent some commodities or other commodities that would be attractive to managers of larger mutual funds.

While getting valuable assets at a bargain would have absolutely been an excellent move when these assets crashed, I would be concerned at the moment that the market has already moved on and the short-term viability in such a volatile environment would leave me hesitant, though as I understand it a fair amount of the crash had to do with toxic financial assets that as a result have been wiped out so I would hardly criticize somebody for disagreeing with me. For more long-term investing I believe that high demand products have suffered irreparable damage to their production infrastructure. While long-term futures reflect this pricing optimism, I do think the market underestimates the long-term damage and has (necessarily, capital is needed right now) taken a myopic view towards commodity pricing.

So in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the DS, there is an included drug dealing minigame. Six types of drugs are for sale: Heroin, Cocaine, Marijuana, LSD, Ecstasy and "Downers" (probably Quaaludes). Dealers would call you and let you know when they were selling drugs for cheap (which wasn't very realistic) and when they were willing to pay extra for certain drugs (a bit more realistic) So I learned that the best way to make money was to wait for certain drugs to sell low, buy as many as I could and hang onto them, and then sell them when the demand was high. Now, if the cops caught you, you would lose all your money and drugs you had on you at the time. But drugs could be stored in your Safe House and the cops couldn't get those. So I started taking taxis home from drug-deals to avoid trouble. It was a little pricey at first, but the profits I was making made up for it in the long run. Cops would also randomly bust any drug deals you would make, the chance of a bust going higher the more money was being exchanged.

How much of this knowledge can I transfer to the real-life stock market, Moony?

Where you keep your wealth?  In USD?  Because although USD is commonly used to measure the value of other investments, its real value can (and usually does) decrease due to inflation.  I'd recommend depositing a percentage of each paycheck into a broad-based low-fee index fund.

This is probably a silly question, but how exactly do you get involved in the stock market? I remember doing this thing when I was in high school where you could put in imaginary money, so to speak, and the simulator followed the changes in the actual stock market.
It was pretty interesting, but investing in the actual stock market is obviously a lot more complicated.

I'm not sure. I bought some a little bit ago, and then just recently they did a reverse split, shrinking their volume into fewer more valuable stocks. The next couple days the stock price plummeted, but I went and bought even more. Then this morning they exploded in value, no idea why or how. I didn't expect it to last so I unloaded for a good profit, and it kept going up. I'm betting they'll have dipped by monday though, stabilizing from the volatility.

I DID earn a good bunch today cause I Realized I had been ording metal like a motherfucker, so I just decided to make a shitload of Barbells.

Like I told you - I am gonna make a big waterfall at the top of the island that splots into two rivers - with the little island in the middle being the museum and a café area.

Then I am gonna put Mabel's on one side of the community center, and Nook's Cranny on the other, to make it a little shopping district. Then I'll put my house and two others there.

Then I'll put four houses on either side of the river up the first incline. From there, I dunno, but I have this design in my head at least.

I recommend trying this if you haven't yet, Moony.
