Because we decided to disallow the use of slurs, as they run counter to the sort of environment we wish to cultivate. Cussing here is fine, using slurs is not. It's worked for years and we have no particular desire to change that rule. The opposite, in fact. If you don't like it, you're free to go somewhere that doesn't disallow it. We ask just the slightest modicum more of civility than other places.

Honestly if you can't even manage that basic level of politeness, maybe this isn't the place for you.

Well, then you can use those places for your degeneracy fix. Here that's not acceptable. The rules can be distilled down to the basic concept of don't be a complete fucking asshole. If you want to be an asshole you can at least have the decency to try to be enjoyable to be around while doing so. Part of that here is refraining from using words that have a history steeped in degrading other people.

To be blunt, I'm not terribly impressed with the sort of folks who stomp into an established online community just to try and stir shit for the lulz. It's gotten banal.

Flit about for a while if you so choose. Just follow the rules and the mod team will leave you be. Simple as that.
