I light of his recent thread >>489735

Should someone who is clearly unhinged, delusional, and detach from reality as Steam Twist be allowed to post on the board? With the actions we all failed to talk him out of in this thread it's quite possible he's going to slip even further into insanity and become (even more) disruptive and dangerous. It's already becoming a hindrance to the board as a whole.

I feel like we should be discussing this, rather than ignoring it.

Everybody has the same right Manley, unless they somehow harm the board rules or any sort of law.
The mods aren't allowed to permaban twist (again) unless he breaks any rules.

that being said, the best advice I can give is to hide his threads, if they're causing so much disturbance.

Why should we have to be the ones to hide them? It's clear that Steam Twist is not mentally stable, as he's shown time and time again. Why should he be allowed to subject everyone here to his insanity without reprisal?

I understand Steam's personality might anger you and many people here, however clicking a small button to hide the thread is not rocket science or a great task.
Steam has the freedom to post, speak and express his opinion as much as anybody here or anywhere with a few country or cultural controversies so therefore, there's nothing much to be done other than leave him alone or deal with it.

Well, I'm a strong believer in the principle of the rule of law.  If Steam Twist doesn't break any rules, then he shouldn't be banned.  If his behavior is unacceptable but doesn't break any of the existing rules, then the rules should be revised to prohibit the unacceptable behavior.  If Steam Twist then persists in his behavior after being informed that it has been made verboten, only then should he be expelled.

I admit that even though Steam has not broken a rule, I understand Manley's point.

But What could we do?
I'm afraid this may be an slowmo traincrash.

Congrats Manley, you've caught on to what I've been saying for the better part of 3 years.

But yeah, agreed, he's clearly both a danger to himself and the mental health of anybody visiting this site.

"There's an escaped mental patient wandering around with an ax. Just ignore him."

Yeeeaaaah, the burden of avoiding someone with mental problems should not be on the people who use this site. He has no right to post here, no one does. It's up to the moderators and to a lesser extent the rest of the community to decide if he should be allowed here. Hence why I'm bringing this up in an official capacity to those moderators. His behavior is getting worse. More detached from reality and more misanthropic. It doesn't help foster the atmosphere this board should have, it actively works against it. Maybe you are ok with just pretending the problem doesn't exist, and you are free to continue to do so. But I feel it should be addressed.

he's already been banned once for his disruptive behavior, but was let back in on the grounds he understood what behavior was unacceptable. Which he has repeatedly shown to be a lie.

That would be up to the mods. But I'll let them know in advance that his delusions are so strong that trying to reason with him is not a viable option any longer.

I honestly thought that someone could get through to him. But that thread shows he's not going to listen to anyone, even those who genuinely want to help. And that makes him a destructive, disruptive force on the board.

As a counter-argument, in hindsight, you folks have all said that Steam Twist have shown in more than a singular ocasion, small gaps of humanity and conscience.
After coming back from his permaban, Steam Twist has proven to be able to refrain from demonstrating his previous otherwise superficial hostile behaviors, which includes rude and hostile reprisals, and internet tough guy-level half baked threats, and again, he did not break any rule yet.

I understand the general concern about his mental health, however none of us are either professionals or paid professionals to deal with him, as said many times before by the own site staff.
It's not a question of pretending to not see the problem, the question is no one is trained to properly deal with taht sort of problem. Therefore, interfering or trying to forcefully push a concept he can't even begin to grasp into his mind, might not be the best idea.

So once again, I will give the following advice as my word:

If you don't want to relate to any Steam Twist issues, simply hide his threads, it's a single click and not much of an effort.

I'm afraid Sweet may be right.

Not exactly the right thing to do, in my opinion.
But perhaps we should just ignore him and hope he is just trolling us, as Mondo suggested.

>and hope he is just trolling us, as Mondo suggested.

I'm getting really sick of this "you're a troll" nonsense! Believe whatever you want I don't care anymore!
